Chapter 89: Chapter 89: After the Darkseid War III



[3rd POV]

At those words, the group of four giggled as they heard the sounds of shuffling behind the door, as the team stumbled in.

"Gwen, I'm glad you are okay" Kaldur said with an awkward cough, as Gwen gave the teen a small smile.

"Thanks, Kaldur. Is Atlantis okay after all of this?" Gwen asked, as she hadn't sent her legion there, primarily because she trusted in their defenses and military to let them deal with it themselves, had any parademons invaded it in the first place.

"Certainly, compared to the surface world, we have not even a tenth of the damages" Kaldur replied. The parademons had only come in small amounts towards Atlantis, and even then, they were killed before they could advance too far into Atlantis. With the advanced technology Atlantis held, they were much better off than just about any other place on the planet.

"Good, I was hoping that'd be the case" Gwen responded, happy that Atlantis hadn't underwent too many damages in comparison to the rest of the world.

"Are you okay?" Dick asked, as he walked towards his sister, who smiled.

"Yep! I'm all good, I guess absorbing Darkseid's power was a bit straining on me, but I'm all good now, better than ever actually" Gwen replied, causing her brother to sigh.

"Why'd you even do that in the first place? And since when could you absorb other people and their powers?" Wally asked, as he stood besides Dick.

"It was something I got rather recently. And I absorbed him because if I didn't, he would have come back eventually, and I don't exactly trust the government to use his body for anything good" Gwen responded, causing Wally to nod, finding the answer to make a lot of sense. The government wasn't exactly known for being trustworthy, and with a body of a being like Darkseid, who knows what they'd do with it, and what they'd attempt to create.

"And you know the League is about to question you, right? Captain Atom is flipping out about it" Zatanna said, causing Gwen to snort.

"When is he not flipping out? That man has a stick up his ass almost as big as his ego, so him flipping out is not even remotely surprising" Gwen replied with an eye roll, not even remotely surprised, before she flipped her legs over the edge of the bed, and got to her feet, while sighing as her clothes changed into something a bit more comfortable.

"Should you be walking?" Rocket asked on the side with a worried frown.

"Hmm? Oh yeah I'm fine. My body can't feel fatigue or weakness like that, I'm immune to that sort of stuff, have been for a while" Gwen replied, knowing that Rocket was still pretty unfamiliar with her abilities.

Rocket just sighed at the response, not even surprised anymore.

"I'm assuming the League wants me to go to the meeting room?" Gwen asked, causing the team to all glance at one another and nod.

"Yeah, they're a bit on edge though, so expect an argument" Conner said, causing Gwen to chuckle.

"There's always an argument when Captain Atom and Politics are involved" Gwen responded, before walking to the door and turning to the team.

"Wish me luck, once I'm done with the talk, let's hang out, yeah? I've missed you guys" Gwen said, causing the team to smile and nod, before Gwen walked out of the room.

'This is about to be incredibly annoying'

[League meeting room]

Sitting at her seat in the League meeting room, Gwen glanced around the table. She saw the uncertain look of Superman, the supportive ones from Diana, Aquaman, and a couple of others, and she felt the glare from Captain Atom and a lesser one from Hawkman. She ignored the latter two, of course.

"Gwen, I think I speak for everyone when I say that I am glad you are okay. But...why did you do what you did?" Dinah asked right off the bat, deciding not to even bother sugar coating it.

"Because it was the best possible choice in the situation. What do you think would have happened if the Government had gotten their hands on his body? And did you know he is immortal? Meaning, he would have eventually regenerated from it, even a blast to the head like that, or one that involved splitting him in half. Eventually, he would have come back. What I did was permanently get rid of him from the universe. Not only him, but all of his followers, his entire army, and his only sons" Gwen replied, causing Dinah to go silent. "And what did absorbing him do? What did you get from it? And that is what you did, correct? You absorbed his physical form into yourself?" J'onn asked, causing Gwen to nod.

"I did. And from absorbing him, I got all of his memories, all of his power, and every little thing that made him, him. Of course, my mind is strong enough to stop any sorts of mental side effects, so you don't need to worry about me going all evil on you guys" Gwen responded, causing Captain Atom to shoot to his feet.

"See! She did it for his power! She killed him to get strong enough so no one could stop her should she start anythin ! Why do all of you trust her, even after she says something like that!" Captain Atom exclaimed, with Hawkman nodding in agreement.

"Oh? And what would you have done with his body?" Gwen asked, raising an eyebrow at the

man.

"Given it to the proper authorities of course" Captain Atom replied as if it was obvious. "You mean the Government? Wow, you really are braindead, and here I thought you were just a tiny bit slow" Gwen replied with a snort, realizing the man was dumber than she thought. "You-" "Captain, sit down" Diana said with a glare, finding the man to be more and more annoying.

Growling the man sat, sitting almost like a child that just got yelled at.

"Gwen, we understand why you did what you did, but what of hiding this... Legion from us?" Dinah asked, as the League looked to Gwen in interest, wanting to know her answer.

"Because then you wouldn't have allowed me to create it. Then I wouldn't have a force that could stop foreign invasions that even you guys can't deal with. I did it because it was the best way of fighting off future invasions for when I'm not here, and I would have done it even if you or the government said no" Gwen replied, causing Dinah to nod.

"I wouldn't have said no, Gwen. I, and a quite a few others at this meeting, are thankful. Because without that Legion of yours, hundreds of thousands more would have died, and the rebuiliding process would take many times longer" Dinah responded.

"What of the bodies? The parademons, the elites of Darkseid's forces, what have you done with them?" Red Tornado asked, asking the question many of the members had on their

mind.

"I took them out of the hands of the Governments of the world, simple as that. And no, I won't be telling any of you where they are, and nor will I hand them to the government" Gwen

said, giving Captain Atom a pointed look at the end.

"I'm getting real sick of you, you little-" "What, are you gonna go cry to your daddy government?" Gwen cut him off, smirking, before blinking as her senses flared.

'Huh...what an idiot' Gwen thought, as her time resumed and the man let out what was akin to

a roar of range, before barelling towards her, slamming through the table.

"CAPTAIN!" Diana yelled, jumping to her feet, preparing herself to stop the fool. But before

she could.

*CRACK*

Captain Atom was promptly bitch slapped in the face, knocking him into the nearby wall, and unconsciousness.

"Huh...he was weaker than I thought" Gwen muttered, as she looked at the man's

unconscious form, the League's eyes wide at the sight.

"So...anything else?"

There was not much else to talk about. In fact, she was allowed to leave right after. Mostly because they wanted to talk amongst one another about Captain Atom and him becoming more and more of an ill fit for the League.

After leaving, Gwen ended up going out with the team for a couple of hours, mostly just whipping up food for everyone and having some fun, nothing really notable happening.

At the moment, Gwen was doing something MUCH more important, absorbing the bodies of

the Apokolips forces.

Standing in the underground of Lexcorp, Gwen stared down the stacks of bodies, filed neatly in large piles, several thousand sitting within this location, and the rest in other locations around the world. Of course, the most important of them were sitting in front of her.

The bodies of Granny Goodness, Steppenwolf, Kalibak, the Furies (except Barda, who's imprisoned), and a handful of other elites, including his other son.

Walking to them, she grinned "You've done good Lex, really good. I'll be sending over some new blueprints for technology that you can make and sell through Lexcorp, as a...repayment" Gwen said, causing the man to smile, pleased with it. As while he was being controlled by her, he could still feel pleased with a reward like that, knowing that the technology will most certainly improve his company.

"Thank you, Mistress. I'll leave you to it" Lex said with a small bow, before leaving the room, leaving Gwen to absorb the bodies on her own.

"Alright then, let's do this" Gwen muttered, as her body began to warp, black and red tendrils

trickling off her form.

Without hesitation, she began to absorb the bodies of every single being within the room. Magic pulled more and more parademons towards her, as she absorbed them first. Portals were created as more and more parademon corpses flooded into the room, and were rapidly absorbed by Gwen. Her strength was rapidly increasing, as was every other physical aspect of

her being.

At the same time, quests were rapidly being completed.

After nearly 10 minutes of constant funnelling and absorption, making more and more

tendrils to absorb the corpses, Gwen let out sigh of pleasure and power, as the last of the Parademons was absorbed into her being. She could feel her forms power had increased by quite a bit, her adaption and evolution had kicked in rapidly, and millions of years of memories were floating in her brain.

The useless memories (which was most of them) were rapidly discarded, while the rest were saved and memorized. Her biological powers had strengthened dramatically, especially her prototype powers from Alex Mercer, strengthening to entirely new levels.

As the absorption of them ceased, she followed her instincts, as the tendrils flowed to the elites of Darkseid's army, and began to consume and absorb them as well. There power flooded her form, as her very souls were consumed by her, strengthening her own, just as their

God's had.

Her mind was filled with new bursts of knowledge, a decent bit of it being somewhat useful to her, thus, it was saved away deep in her growingly powerful mind.

The absorption and assimilation took less than a minute, as even though they were New Gods, they were quite pitiful in comparison to Darkseid himself, and thus, the assimilation was over

with within 45 seconds.

Opening her glowing red eyes, Gwen let out a small sigh "Not bad, not as good as Darkseid

himself, but...not bad" Gwen muttered, as she clenched her powerful fist, the power of over

100,000 parademons, and Darkseid's elites filling her body with a new burst of energy.

Not sure how well it was made, but I did my best lol.

This will be the last character assimilation of this size for quite some time, probably until the

next world after ATLA, as she will just be saving them up for a while now.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

For Fate characters, ALL of them are their servant selves unless specified otherwise.

Gwen is now much much stronger than before, as she has more physical strength, and some

insanely powerful abilities under her belt.

I'll make an updated status chapter before she goes back to ATLA, as it is...long, very long.

I count Warframes as characters, mainly because I (if I remember correctly) do believe they

were living at one point, either way, they probably are sentient or have some making of a soul, thus, they are counted.

Next chapter will probably be the last in YJ, and then back to ATLA! The world after ATLA has already been decided, as has the one after that.

She'll probably be going to 4-5 more universes/multiverses, and then that'll be it. As she's going to start getting more and more powerful, quicker and quicker. At the moment she is the

weakest of my main characters (but by far the most skilled and the smartest). Anyways, have a good day!
