Chapter 88: Benefit of Risk
Chapter 88: Benefit of Risk
Nerodia woke up in a building near the temple with a headache, she had been sleeping from time to time because of her condition, it needed her to be in constant rest to help with her recovery.
"Ugh... where I am?" she muttered as a flashback of the last week come back to her.
"Another city? Teleportation gate? Demigods? Temple of Gaea? Invasion?" she reviews her memories of what happening when she was out of her sense.
Nerodia had her memories back faster than Minerva had expected as she had been feeding on Sol's blood and Sol also healed her with his healing dome power which done wonders in getting her memory back.
Nerodia found that her body was still weaker than her body was, even if she turned to her real form, she would still be weaker than she was physical.
On the other hand, her innate ability receives a big leap in power, her magical gaze could paralyze people even if she stop looking at them, how long it last depended on how strong her opponent was and she could also lift the effect on her will.
Her ability to resize her body could be extended to any object around her and she could keep them that way even if she left the object.
As for her healing ability she absorbed, she could heal unlimitedly as long as either her brain, heart, or bone marrow was left intact.
She had become even more overpowering with the bump of her innate ability but it wasn't all, she also forms her core divinity which gave her the ability to conjure things.
"Hmm... the risk was worth it" She mumbles to herself as from her knowledge, if she went toward the path of Titan, she would not have the ability to conjure things and her ability enhancement might not be as drastic.
Nerodia suddenly looked to the fortification area, even if she was inside the building she could still sense a big fight was happening outside, she could also sense a few people fighting from the city area.
She tried to get up from her bed and went out to see what happen when Jean opens the door to check on her.
"Oh... you are awake, please..." Jean was about to tell Nerodia to rest but her eyes turned wide in terror.
The girl before her seemed to change place with someone else, before this she thought Nerodia was a somewhat unique person but now she could sense danger clearly emanating from her body.
"Where is everyone else?" Nerodia asked the priestess of Minerva.
Even though she could sense what happened around her, having others confirm the information was important as well.
"Mr. Sol is out of town to fight the ant queen with the firebird help, Ms. Moon and the dog still fighting in the front line, and the other had not come back since they left," Jean explained as best as she can in fear of the girl in front of her.
Nerodia weight her options, her life was tied to Sol's life so logically she should go to Sol's location to assist him but the fight on the fortification and the city was worrying at best.
The fight by the fortification would result in heavy casualty but she didn't care about any of their life, as for Moon, she should be able to survive somehow.
On the other hand, the fight in the city was too one-sided, if she was not wrong then Miya and the other were there fighting against Antman.
"I need to go," Nerodia said as she went out of the building, Jean did not stop her as she would not dare to say anything if she wasn't asked.
She sprints through the city at her fastest speed, she decided to save Miya and Nerva even though she knew it was not her best option, she should have gone for Sol.
She did not need to find their location as she could clearly know where they are, she had some kind of internal radar which help her identify people by several kilometers.
When she got close, Nerodia could see Miya and the other two were cornered at the edge of the roof.
Nerodia turned to her true form and start to get bigger and stared down at the two ants who was an inch away from impaling Miya's throat.
Miya and the other were shocked they the ants' sudden behavior, as they would not stop no matter what they did.
Nerva had used her ability to the limit but they were still pushed to the corner, she could not predict Nerodia coming to their help as she was a Demigod and she was immune to her predictive ability.
The girl turned around to find a giant snake behind them, it stared down at them but they did not stop moving as she could control her ability.
"Anyone misses me?" the giant snake joked at them, she could clearly sense relief from them.
All three of them were tired as each one of them had pushed their ability to the limit to keep themselves alive.
The only one who was scared witless was Tanya, it was the first time she had saw a giant snake and she could also sense great danger from it, but seeing the other becoming relaxed, she soon calm down.
With a simple whip of her tail, Nerodia turned the paralyzed ant into a bloody paste, it was not hard for her to kill them even in her weakened state.
"Ok everyone, let's get back, My help is needed somewhere else," Nerodia said while lowering her head so everyone could get on top of her.
"Wait, we need to clean the city from ants too or they might do something" Nerva cuts in.
The pair of ant was not the only ant in the city, Nerva could predict that while Nerodia could locate them all.
Nerodia didn't think much of them but Nerva insisted to clean the city first, she said that something bad would happen if they let the ants be.
After some convincing, Nerodia finally agreed to clear out the ant in the city, with her being able to pinpoint each one of them it would not take long for her to clean them up.
In the end, they need fifteen minutes to finish all the ant around the city, she did not need long to kill them and find them but their seer number made it impossible to finish them all within a few minutes.
"Alright that was the last of them, let's get back before the ant crush out the defender," Nerodia said to Nerva.
When they got back to the temples, people already cowering in fear, for the ant was up on the fortification, and the screams of the defender could be heard from time to time.
When they saw a giant snake moving toward them from the city, people started to be hysterical, they thought it would be the end for them.
Nerodia let the girls down beside the temple and moved toward the fortification, those she passed by felt like their soul was leaving them.
Some people who were weak-minded would faint in fear, Nerodia did not have time for them as she safe her people.
Some of The defenders notice the commotion behind them, they could sense danger from the temple, when they saw the giant snake, some of them lose their wits, they tough the snake would be coming for them.
"Fuck! This is the end, sorry everyone we did our best" the defender started to say in despair.
When Neridua got close enough to the temple, She used her Magical eye to stop everyone, she could not differentiate between ally and enemy as there were too many of them there.
It was an advantage of a magical eye, it becomes clear as she did not need to expend any energy to immobilize near a thousand people, as long as she did not need to control who was affected and who did not then she won't get tired by it.
The defender's face turned white when they could not move, those who thought that they could survive even against the snake had changed their mind.
Everyone's life now rests in the hand of the giant snake, it was not hyperbolic to say that Nerodia was among the strongest Demigod there was, even if she was weakened, she could handle a thousand heirs with ease.
With a single thought, Nerodia conjured an uncountable amount of sand, they hover in the air like a sand storm.
Nerdia sends those sand toward the whole battlefield, every defender felt dread, they instinctively know that they would die if they touch the sand.
To their surprise, the sand did not touch a single hair of theirs but pierced every Antman with precision, the Antman soon dried up and turned into a pile of sand which made their hair stand on end.
"God of death has come to pick us up," that was what most of them thought when they saw the ants turned into dust.
