My Dearest General: It Has Always Been You

"We at the Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn!" Wang Chengbing sat on the highest vantage point overlooking the whole ship, witnessing joyfully how people scramble around in panic like a colony of ants. His voice exploded louder. "We at the Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn whoooo!"

"Oh my God!" Yu Li'er screamed to rival the deafening music. "This is so fun! Director Wang, you're so amazing!" She pulled the chubby man closer and planted a wet kiss on his cheek.

Wang Chengbing was stunned for a split second before his eyes lit up like no other. He stood up in excitement and entered a string of code to the broadcast monitor. In an instant, the song changed its tune to Shawn Mendes' melodious voice, singing 'There's Nothing Holding Me Back'.

      Oh, I've been shaking

      I love it when you go crazy

      You take all my inhibitions

      Baby, there's nothing holdin' me back

Bam! Bam! Bam! 

"Open the door!" 

"Whoever you are! Surrender right now or we will take action!"

Yu Li'er jumped in shock and turned to the door fearfully. The latch was still clasped, but it was just a matter of time until they broke through. "W—What should we do?"

Wang Chengbing increased the volume and tuned up the disco ball's intensity to its highest. By now, the whole ship was akin to exploding fireworks, shining in vivid rainbow colors. "We wait." He said casually.

"Wait?!" Yu Li'er shrieked in disbelief. The force knocking the door turned stronger and more extreme to the point where the hinges trembled, seemingly as if it was going to crash down soon. She could even hear a few gunshots. Fortunately, this was a high quality yacht with high caliber materials or else they would turn into human sieves by now! 

Yu Li'er bit her nails anxiously. Wait? What were they waiting for?! Oh God, she looked at Wang Chengbing's smirking face and couldn't help crying inside. God, Merciful Buddha, Jesus, please help us!!!

As if answering her plea, an ear deafening crash shook the yacht. Yu Li'er screamed as her body tilted to the side. Fortunately, Wang Chengbing caught her by the waist. The yacht swayed dangerously and the ground was flat no more. Outside, people stumbled and bumped against each other, some that were closest to the bow even lost their hold and plunged into the sea. This was a scene right out from an action movie!

"What's happening?!" Yu Li'er hollered in panic.

Wang Chengbing laughed maniacally. "Behold, they have arrived!"

"Manager Si, report your location!"

"Manager Si, did something happen to your side? Hello, hello?!"

"Not good, there's unknown people trespassing into the cockpit! They seem to carry some sort of weapon that can stun people!"

"Emergency! Emergency! The anchor has been severed by force and the yacht is sailing! The machine is on and the propeller has started to work!"

"Prepare the medical and rescue team! Someone fell into the sea!"

One report after another rang out from Si Yusheng's earpiece. The blaring music and rhythmic thumping sounded muffled as if they were in a separated dimension right now. He coughed and clawed on the arm choking around his neck, eyes bloodshot. "I knew it…" Laughing breathlessly, he said. "I shouldn't have trusted you..."

"Too late." Xu Binchen confiscated Si Yusheng's gun and weapons in a blink of an eye. "You took the gamble and lost."

"Who is it? Is it Director Wang?" Maintaining eye contact with Xu Binchen, he sneered. "Of course he is. I already got some untimely doubt due to Politician Bo's sudden absence. That old man is so greedy, how could he ever miss the gathering? What have you done to him?"

Xu Binchen didn't answer and tightened his hold on Si Yusheng's neck, his fingers clamped down on the man's pulse, feeling them throb under his skin. Si Yusheng gasped, red veins spread through his sclera and his tongue rolled out. Only when his eyes almost rolled back due to suffocation did Xu Binchen loosen his hold. 

"Speak." Xu Binchen said coldly. "Who's your boss?"

Si Yusheng half coughed and half laughed, tears sliding down his cheek. "Even if I tell you, you will never be able to catch them."

The corner of Xu Binchen's lips tilted upward into a chilling smile. "Try me."

Bam! Bam! Bam! Multiple loud bangs came from the door, followed by flustered and inquiring voices.

"Manager Si, are you in there?!"

"Manager Si, what is happening? Who attacked us?!"

Xu Binchen dragged Si Yusheng up. By now, the latter's limbs had already turned numb due to asphyxiation and he had difficulty regaining his breath. Xu Binchen strangled Si Yusheng's neck with his arm and plastered himself beside the door, pointing the gun muzzle on the man's temple. 

His eyes made contact with Lei Liqiu's frozen ones and he clicked his tongue impatiently. "Hide yourself."

Lei Liqiu snapped out of her daze and forced herself to look away. The storage they were in wasn't large, only around 10 meters square. Wooden boxes stacked on the floor. The small porthole showed the outside scenery; receding land and endless black sea.

The yacht swayed unstably along with the small lightbulb over their heads. Xu Binchen's face was obscured by the shadows and Lei Liqiu didn't know what he was thinking. She held herself up using the wall, whispering. "There's no place to hide."

Xu Binchen frowned. 

The banging on the door was getting more and more relentless. "Manager Si, we will count to three and break down by force! Three—"

Xu Binchen pressed the muzzle on Si Yusheng's temple harder. "Tell them to retreat."

Si Yusheng only laughed.

"Two—"

Lei Liqiu stared at the door in horror. Her whole body was petrified in place. Xu Binchen clicked his tongue again and was prepared to stance himself in defense when the yacht swayed again. This time it was so severe that it almost tilted 45 degrees. 

Lei Liqiu bumped her head onto the wall and her whole body pasted onto it like a lizard. 

Xu Binchen and Si Yusheng weren't as lucky. The latter seized the momentum to wring himself out of Xu Binchen's hold and scrambled to the door. Xu Binchen's pupils dilated and before his brain could process, his body had moved to shoot Si Yusheng on his leg.

"Arrgh!" The man lost his balance and tumbled down, the lurch of the yacht brought him closer to Lei Liqiu instead. With a pale face and vicious eyes, he stretched his claws toward the helpless girl.

"Lei Liqiu!" Xu Binchen bellowed.
