Chapter 119 119 Lynx
"Release..." Alex mumbled and immediately flame burst out from his entire body freeing him from the dark binds and burning the mage's face.
Once again the crowd was stunned as none of them could believe what they just saw, because of the sudden burst of flames all of them thought Alex was a mage.
The flame that he absorbed burst out from every part of his body, the mage tried to shield his face but part of it was burnt causing him to fall to the ground.
Alex opened his eyes and slowly the flames from his body died out but he had already achieved what he wanted, Alex bent down and without mercy, he plunged both of his daggers into the mage's stomach dealing the finishing touch.
[You killed player Collision!]
[You have earned 250XP!]
[You received 10 blue coins!]
[You received Healing potion!]
'10 coins! I'm sure he spent all his coins buying potions' Alex chuckled as he let out a sigh of relief.
The crowd erupted into cheers as Alex finally won, every round Alex had shown something different and the crowd couldn't get enough of him, with the way he perform all three rounds he was definitely first place and the crowd was waiting to see if he would choose the death match option or not.
The VIPs who placed huge amounts of money on Alex were all smiling as their money would be doubled or tripled depending on how much they bet.
The player slowly turned into pixel and faded away and Alex picked up his dagger, he stood waiting to be teleported outside of the arena but after a few seconds nothing happened, he turned around and both of the boars were staring at him from afar.
They had to roll themselves on the ground to quench the flame that burnt their body so they were beyond angry, Alex was supposed to be teleported as soon as he won but for some reason, he was still in the arena and a barrier covered the battle area trapping him inside.
"Hey what's wrong" Alex shouted but his voice couldn't be heard by anyone.
The mage responsible for the teleportation was outside of the barrier staring at Alex with a smile on his face, he was told to wait till the boars acted then maybe Alex might be killed.
*Snort*
With feet brushing against the ground both of the boars were getting ready to charge, Alex was still surprised about what was happening cause he already won the fight, the man speaking to the whole arena didn't speak and the crowd was still cheering thinking this was all part of the plan.
[Inventory]
Alex opened his inventory and took out the healing potion he obtained from the mage earlier and drank it immediately.
[+100HP]
Immediately a warm soothing feeling enveloped Alex's entire body as soon as he drank the red liquid, Alex took a deep breath and held both of his daggers tightly.
He knew this wasn't right but all he could do now was to fight back, maybe if both of the boars were dead they would teleport him outside and start the next duel.
Loud footsteps ensured as both of the boars ran towards Alex, both of the beasts clashed their bodies against themselves on the way as they were competing on who would attack him.
'How would I defeat both of them, and I can't block against their attacks and they are no high ground' Alex tried to think of a way to defeat the beasts.
A white light shone and Alex immediately closed his eyes and when he opened them again he wasn't in the arena anymore instead he was in a room.
The room was large and unoccupied, all the chairs around were empty and they were 10 chairs in total and three doors that led outside of the room.
"Maybe it was a mistake" Alex mumbled as he walked towards one of the chairs, one of the doors opened and a player stepped inside.
[BattleAxe]
[Level 15]
Alex recognized the player and he was the first player to win in the duel, the player glared at Alex and took a seat far away from him as possible still Alex walked up to the player with a smile on his face.
"Congratulations" Alex spoke as he stood in front of the player.
"Stay away from me you freak" the player shouted.
"Huh! I came here to congratulate you on winning and you are calling me a freak" Alex said clearly angry.
"You could have left the other player to fight for themselves instead of killing everyone so you could qualify, if the mage teleporting us outside of the arena was a little slow I would have been dead" the player shouted.
"You don't have what it takes to reach the top ten, calling me a freak because I killed a bunch of players just to secure top place, maybe I would choose the death match option and kill everyone" Alex smirked.
"Do it...I dare you, all the players would come together and take you down"
"It seems you are under the illusion that 9 of you can defeat me, did you watch my duel just now, all of you would burn," Alex said.
[Lynx]
[Level 17]
Alex and the player faced sideways as another player was teleported into the room, the player saw the two of them and stood there staring at them.
"Your duel was quick" Alex spoke.
"Yeah, I shot him immediately we started, I didn't think he expected it or he would have reacted" lynx smiled.
"You shot him! With what? I didn't see you with a gun or a flintlock?" Alex asked.
"I was extra careful so I wouldn't reveal my weapon, you helped with that a lot during the second round, you killed everyone and the rest of us just qualified" lynx smiled.
"He helped! How is that helping, he probably took agility and strength potions together with his level and killed everyone without giving them a fair shot, you would have died too if you were close to him"
"Luckily I wasn't and I qualified, thanks man and if you don't mind I have a question," lynx said as he took a seat.
Alex smiled and sat close to lynx, "I'm listening"
"Are you traveling with a party or a group, I'm thinking of leaving here and I really don't want to go alone cause you know" lynx smiled.
"I'm with a group, they are my friends," Alex said.
"Can I join you guys, I know we aren't friends and we don't know each other but I won't stab you in the back, I promise" lynx spoke.
"You would stab me in the back, I didn't say anything about stabbing in the back," Alex said with an accusing face.
"That's what everyone thinks when they team up with a stranger but I won't betray you guys, I'm aiming for the top spot in Nova Online" Lynx said.
"The top spot, we are aiming for the ten top but you are aiming for the top, that's big" Alex smiled.
"Do you know wraith is a marksman?" Lynx asked.
"That can't be true, the top player of Nova Online is a marksman, how do you know?" Alex asked.
"I saw an article online, when names and levels began to appear on all the players, someone saw wraith and confirmed that he's a marksman," Lynx said.
"Wow I thought he would be a swordsman or a mage or something else, so that's why you are aiming for the top spot" Alex chuckled.
"Yes, so can I join your group?"
"Sure, but if the others approve, we can't just travel with everyone we meet, but a marksman would probably be helpful," Alex said.
"Ohh...so what class are the rest of your friends, I know you are an assassin, but to tell the truth I've never seen an assassin as good as you, I even killed some of them in the forest," Lynx said.
"I'm sure they are assassins stronger than me, but on my team, we have a paladin, a dark mage, and a healer"
"A healer, that's great, I'm sure all of them would be as powerful as you are," lynx said and Alex chuckled.
Alex and Lynx sat down for more than 30 minutes before the last player arrived bringing the tally up to ten players inside the room.
