Chapter 396: Capturing the Enemys Hunting Dog
Chapter 396: Capturing the Enemy's Hunting Dog
Promptly two days later, two emails simultaneously landed in Qian Meng's inbox. One in her professional account and the other in her private account she had created when she was thirteen.
She found Qing Yuan's email and frowned at the title.
[Surprise Present For My Lovely Big Sis]
She looked at the email id and shook her head. He needed to get a new, more professional email ID if he was exchanging emails with his professors and fellow students. This was a complete wreck.
What was [email protected] supposed to mean? She would shudder if someone sent her a work-related email from such an account.
Inside was only an attachment. Obscure name aside, she was so busy that the date escaped her mind.
She looked through the document and her eyes widened as she scrolled through the details.
It was the minutes of the meeting. For someone doing it for the first time. It wasn't that bad.
It said the following.
[Emergency Board met at headquarters on Wednesday at 2:00 pm.]
The list of members present was given in detail and the agendas were exhibited.
Item One was the allocation of capital for the financial year and presented by Executive H, Financial Reporting Director.
It displayed the distribution of capital for the year on various ongoing projects of Yun Corporation. The Financial Reporting Director made a motion to decide on which of these things would happen.
The discussion about profit distribution amongst shareholders was brought up in this sphere, the allocation to eligible shareholders was postponed and said that it required future emergency board action.
With the majority shareholder voting in this regard, the motion was passed.
The second Item of discussion was the financial report, presented by the fiscal analyst. A detailed report was shown to the shareholders and no further action was apparently required for it.
Item three on the list was the official revenue estimate. Qian Meng looked over the funds and allocation of profits with disdain.
A small note underneath mentioned that a certain amount of revenue was not mentioned in the estimates as it would go to some sort of relief fund.
Qian Meng highlighted this portion and then moved on.
The general operating statement review also showed a rosy picture.
She read over it. The board meeting was orchestrated to make it look like the rumors were indeed just that… malicious falsehoods.
But as Qian Meng read through the figures and the mystery fund which was eating up revenue, she realized that her father had paid a petty trick.
While the Vice President, Li Wenyue had made the meeting happen, a little clause in the revenue meant that something was happening in the background that the shareholders weren't allowed to see. There was a lack of transparency and this time, their anger wasn't directed at Yun Sui Bo, but at Li Wenyue, who they trusted.
It was the perfect opportunity to weed out the VP's power in the company.
A good strategy, indeed.
But looking at the email that had landed in her inbox from the other, the petty trick had worked to her advantage. The response came earlier than she had expected.
She typed out a quick response to her brother:
[Thank you for the minutes. I would have still appreciated it if you went to class instead. PS: Please change your email address.]
She hit send and then turned to the other email.
It was short and sweet.
[I would like to propose a meeting between the two of us. Please let me know if you are available on any of these slots.]
Li Wenyue mentioned a list of times and dates and Qian Meng scrolled through it.
She pinged Li Min and called her into the office.
"Boss, you called?" she asked.
Qian Meng nodded. "I am meeting Li Wenyue tomorrow at twelve. It's lunch hour. Please put it in my schedule."
"Understood," Li Min said immediately. "Do you want me to book a restaurant or private location for the meeting?" she asked.
"Book a location near Yun Corporation. It will be a long discussion, it seems."
"Please inform me if I need to push back any of your other scheduled tasks," Li Min said immediately.
She was promptly dismissed and Qian Meng went back to sending out the email. The small note of her work number also helped.
The meeting was set.
Li Wenyue would be joining hands with Qian Meng. Now, she had to slowly use the enemy's hunting dog to finish the game.
She had tricked the enemy into believing that one of his best generals was a traitor. She had forced the VP to escape and join forces with her. There was nothing sweeter than this type of vengeance.
Plucking out people from the enemy's camp… It was always so harsh when the house dog bit the owner's hand. So much more hurtful than a rabid street dog doing it.
She chuckled as she imagined her father's expression. Ah, to be a fly on the wall as he raged.
She took out the list of executives and employees who had been assisting Yu Sui Bo in his dirty work and made note of them. Time to send the flies away. Somewhere where they don't dare to infect others.
There was a slight knock on her door. She looked up and saw Li Min peering in. "An anonymous tip to the media was made. The rumors just got dropped on a financial journalist's desk. He should be scrambling to publish first," she commented slyly.
"Mind keeping track of the news and the resulting action?" Qian Meng asked with a note of desperation. "I can't trust anyone else to do it."
Li Min smiled. "Don't worry about it." Just before she was going to leave, she said something beyond Qian Meng's imagination. "I have blocked your father's number. Please handle the issue yourself!"
She gave Qian Meng a blinding smile before skipping away.
Qian Meng shook her head and chuckled. Once the news hit, her dad would know for sure that Qian Meng was the one taking action behind the curtain.
No one else would have the guts to spread the news to the media, especially when share prices would plummet. Who else would care little about the current reputation?
Only someone who was as fearless and sure as her. She knew she could make the price skyrocket. Why would she worry about such trivial matters?
And as expected… her phone started to ring at nine that evening, an hour after the first news article came out.
