Awakened: Evolving to Godhood

Chapter 12: Shocked out of their wits

Chapter 12: Shocked out of their wits

“Hi, you’ve already heard it, but I will reintroduce myself again. My name’s Theo, a magician with dual abilities.” Theo said, extending his hands towards Elliot for a handshake.

Elliot feels shocked in his heart, wondering why Theo is talking to someone like him!

“Are you not going to introduce yourself and leave me hanging?”

“Uh, no.”

It was a rule in the world of magicians to introduce oneself after someone introduced himself as a magician. Otherwise, remaining silent or not formally introducing oneself means you don’t put the other person in your eyes.

“My name’s Elliot Vincent… a magician with no supernatural ability,” he said, shaking hands with Theo.

“Nice to meet you,” Theo said. “I hope we get along well for the next two years.”

“Me too,” Elliot replied, feeling pleased that someone has taken time to talk to him without making him feel bad.

“I’m looking forward to you taking the assessment.” Theo Rose said as he looked at Elliot with a gaze of deep interest.

“You surely won’t be disappointed,” Elliot said, rubbing the back of his head and thinking that Theo and the others will be surprised with his result for sure.

The students were startled and surprised to see Elliot Vincent and Theo Rose chatting with each other, ignoring the rest of the people in the examination room.

“Is this really happening?”

“Why is the most talented magician in this room sitting beside the weakest magician in history and even chatting with him?”

“What the hell?!”

A notification sounded in Elliot’s mind, telling him that he was only thirty-five people away from completing the trial!

The sudden appearance of the notification in his mind led him to think, “Huh? The only thing I did right now was talk with Theo. And that shocked fifteen people? People nowadays are too sensitive. But it’s understandable. A strong magician chatting with the weakest magician in history isn’t common to see.”

Elliot turned to look at the source of his trial progression with a grateful expression and sincerely said, “Thanks.”

“…”

His sudden words of appreciation came as a surprise to Theo, who was scouting out talented individuals from the lots present in this examination center.

“For what?” He asked.

“For talking with me,” Elliot replied, sincerity brimming in his heart, signifying that that really was the reason why he thanked him.

While they were talking to each other, Nina Olsen assessed the magic energy capacity and ability affinity of the students by using the devices handed out to her by the Magician Academy.

“Name: Lisa Charlotte.

Magic energy capacity: 39 points.

Ability Affinities: Wind, Earth.”

“Name: Rodriguez.

Magic energy capacity: 19 points.

Ability Affinity: Water.”

“Name: Cain.

Magic energy capacity: 18 points.

Ability Affinity: Bestial Transformation.”

Dozens of minutes later, nearly all of the examinees had gotten assessed by the beautiful instructor and were now sitting on their seats, talking with their friends.

“Your magic energy capacity is 64 units!” Nina said, looking at the black-haired youth with pale skin in front of her.

Her words came as a surprise to many students, but they were not too shocked. Still, they looked at John in awe as he was the third strongest student in the examination room based on magic energy capacity.

“Now, please place your hand on the Ability Affinity Device.” Nina Olsen said to John.

“Instructor, can I not?” John asked.

“You have to.” Nina insisted.

“Pretty please?” John begged with a pitiful look as he looked at the beautiful instructor.

“It’s compulsory.”

Nina’s duty forced her to assess all the examinees in the same way so that she would be able to register the necessary information of the young magicians in the database of the association.

“Ah, whatever.” John understood that the instructor wouldn’t let him scot away from here if he doesn’t get assessed by the ability affinity device, so he placed his hand on the crystal ball with a face of deep regret.

A few moments later, once the ball remained as dark as ever, instructor Nina and the examinees understood why John was hesitant about having his affinity to abilities assessed.

“Haha! He has no affinity to the supernatural!”

“He’s a Hollow. Another loser among magicians.”

Hollow is a term used for magicians that can’t contain supernatural cells in their bodies which results in them never being able to use supernatural abilities in their entire life.

Nina didn’t ask him any questions or offered him evolution material to awaken as she knew full that a Hollow can never awaken.

“I’m such a loser,” John muttered under his breath as he walked back to his seat, knowing full well that his future in the academy wouldn’t be pleasant as his embarrassing secret was out.

Hollow Magicians were general outcasts of the magician society.

Just as he sat down on his seat under the taunting stares of the examinees, a young man with dark brown hair stood up from his seat and walked to the crystal table with a relaxed and carefree expression.

“Elliot Vincent, here to take the entrance examination.” He announced, standing next to his childhood friend.

Just as he said these words, a few examinees began making fun of him, uttering whatever they could to ridicule and taunt him.

“You’re just going to waste our time by participating in the assessment.”

“We already know you’re the weakest magician that can only contain two units of magic energy in his body.”

“Move out of there!”

Elliot turned around to stare at them with a look that said why am I stuck with monkeys wherever I go?

“Who the hell do you guys think you are? The instructor hasn’t said a word about me being unqualified to take the test, yet you’re already barking like dogs. You’re not only rude to me but also our instructor. A person that can’t respect his teacher isn’t someone I will ever respect.”

While saying those words, Elliot pointed the middle finger of his left hand at the examinees and continued, “So, take this middle finger up your asses and shut up.”

What guts!

Did he eat a tiger to gain this courage?!”

<Completed: 25/50>

His words startled a lot of them, especially the ones who were making fun of him.

“You!” Cain stood up from his seat, ready to duke it out with the weakest magician, or so that’s what he thought, totally unaware that he was no longer the weakest.

“Silence!” Nina Olsen exclaimed, a mighty energy pressure sweeping across the area.

Cain sat down on his seat, a disgruntled expression on his face.

He couldn’t harm Elliot in front of the instructor.

So, he could only endure this embarrassment.

“Continue.” Instructor Nina said, motioning Elliot to place his hand on the crystal ball.

An inky, black crystal ball was on the table. It was similar in size to a football and had an ancient feel to it.

Following the interaction of the instructor, Elliot placed his palm on top of the crystal ball.

A few seconds later, the crystal ball released a mesmerizing blue glow, causing everyone to look at it.

The glow reflecting in their eyes intensified.

Then, all of a sudden, twenty blue dots appeared inside the crystal ball.

“What?!”

“How is that possible?!!!”

Not just the examinees, but even Theo Rose and Instructor Nina Olsen had their eyes opened wide like saucers, and they turned to look at Elliot with an expression of bewilderment.
