Chapter 873  The Last Mission: Scores to Settle

Day Ninety-One…

Dave started looking for Abigail, but he couldn't find her. To deceive Monica, Jane didn't inform Dave that Abigail was safe.

"What's wrong? Where is Abigail?" Monica pretended to be concerned.

He shook his head. "She's gone missing. I'm sorry, Vincent, but I can't accompany you to your hotel. I have to find Abigail."

Vincent nodded. "It's okay. You should prioritize her. How did this happen?"

"I don't know. I'll check the CCTV cameras. I have to go now." Dave was in a hurry to leave, but Monica stopped him for a moment.

"Can you give me Jane's contact number?" she asked.

Vincent stared at Monica with a deep frown. 'Don't tell me she has something to do with Abigail's disappearance?' n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

He was still reeling from the revelation that Abigail was Jane's biological sister.

After giving Jane's phone number, Dave said goodbye to the couple.

"What did you do behind my back? Are you responsible for this?" Vincent confronted Monica immediately.

"Huh? What do you mean, Babe? I'm innocent," Monica denied his accusation. "I only found out today that Abigail is Jane's sister. Why are you doubting me?" Her voice sounded upset.

Vincent apologized. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that. Let's go."

He glanced in the direction where Jane had disappeared earlier. He hadn't fully recovered from the unexpected encounter. Moreover, he felt conflicted after discovering that Jane had regained her memory.

Monica clenched her fists, irritated. She could sense that Vincent had been affected by Jane's presence and her words.

'Don't you dare betray me again, Vincent, just because of her. I'll kill her for sure! I won't allow her to steal you from me,' Monica swore to herself.

Half an hour later…

Jane had already anticipated that Abigail's life would be in danger so as a precautionary measure, she requested her comrades from Phantom Assassin Guild to watch and monitor Abigail secretly for her protection.

Jane sent Dave a message, asking him to meet her in a certain place. She used one of the headquarters of Phantom Assassin Guild.

In the old basement, the three men who tried to kidnap Abigail were being tied on the chairs. They were being interrogated by Iron Lady and Mystique. Jane had already anticipated that Abigail's life would be in danger so as a precautionary measure, she requested her comrades from Phantom Assassin Guild to watch and monitor Abigail secretly for her protection.

On the other hand, Black Rose accompanied Abigail in the living room. She was still trying to calm her down. Abigail witnessed how the two ladies fought the three men earlier in the comfort room. She was still shaken by the fact someone tried to kidnap her.

"Sis!" Abigail hugged Jane as soon as she joined them.

"Don't be afraid. We are here to protect you." Jane stroked Abigail's hair, comforting her.

"Who are those people?" Abigail asked her nervously. Her body was still trembling in fear.

"I will explain later. Let's wait for Dave. He also needs to know what happen."

Jane needed to warn Dave and Abigail to stay away from Vincent and Monica. They shouldn't trust the couple.

It did not take long before Dave reached the house. He dashed inside, searching for Abigail. "Abi!" Dave called out as soon as he saw her. He ran in her direction, pulling her into a tight embrace. "I was scared to death. I thought something bad happened to you. You suddenly disappeared."

Abigail finally relaxed the moment Dave engulfed her body with his strong arms. She felt safe and secured in Dave's presence.

"I'm fine, Dave. My sister's friends saved me a while ago."

Dave broke the hug and gazed at her worriedly. "What happened?"

"Someone tried to kidnap my sister earlier. Fortunately, I already hired some people to keep an eye on my sister." Jane answered Dave's question.

Dave clenched his jaw upon hearing that. "Why? Is it because of me? I'm a police officer… I have so many enemies. So I might be the reason why they targeted Abigail."

Jane shook her head. "No. Don't blame yourself. This incident has nothing to do with you. I summon you here to reveal the truth. Monica and Vincent couldn't be trusted. The mastermind behind this incident is none other than, Monica. Or should I say Helena. Vincent's girlfriend."

"She wants to harm Abigail… because she is my sister."

Both Dave and Abigail were stunned by her revelation.

"I know. This is hard to believe. So I prepared some evidence to convince the two of you."

After saying that, Jane signaled Black Rose to hand a phone over to Dave. He accepted it.

"That phone belongs to the leader of the kidnappers. Take a look. You can see the exchanges of conversation between Helena and him. She was the one who ordered them to kidnap Abigail."

Dave and Abigail checked the conversation. She gasped upon reading the content of the messages. Monica ordered the men to kidnap her. And she specifically asked those men to defile her.

Dave gripped the phone tightly, his eyes blazing red with fury. Someone dared to hurt his woman. And the responsible person was the person close to them.

"She is wicked! How could she do this to Abi. I won't forgive her," Dave said through his gritted teeth.

"Thank you for saving her!" Dave expressed his heartfelt gratitude toward Jane and Black Rose.

It didn't take long before Jane's phone rang. She received a call from an unregistered number. Without hesitation, she pressed the answer button.

"Hello, Phantomflake. It's me. Did you miss me?"

Jane smiled when she recognized the voice. What perfect timing! Monica had called her personally.

"What do you want from me, Monica? Or should I call you Helena now?" Jane replied, raising an eyebrow.

Abigail and Dave exchanged curious glances when Monica's name was mentioned. Noticing their interest, Jane switched her phone to speaker mode so they could also hear the conversation.

"Hahaha! I guess there's no need to hide my identity anymore. Anyway, I just called to see if you've found your missing sister. If you want, I can send her over to you. But you'll have to beg me first." Monica chuckled mockingly.

Dave's expression turned grim as they confirmed that Monica was behind this evil scheme. Abigail sunk further into his embrace, still scared of Monica.

Monica was still clueless that Abigail was safe. Jane made her believe that her underlings succeeded in kidnapping Abigail.

"I'm not the one begging here, Monica. It's you who should beg for mercy. Because this time, I won't show any mercy," Jane said with conviction.

Monica's sarcastic laughter bubbled up from the other line. "You are still stubborn and arrogant. Aren't you afraid that I might kill your sister right now?"

Dave had the urge to speak up and curse Monica but Jane signaled him to keep quiet.

"Monica… I won't allow you to hurt my loved ones. Not this time."

"Hahaha! Let's see. This is a war between us." Monica confidently declared. "If you still want to see your sister alive, you have to come and meet me. Alone! Understand."

"I'm not running away from you, Monica. I'm always ready to face you!" Jane spat back.

"Good. Let's finish this once and for all! We have some scores to settle." Monica was confident that she had the upper hand.
