Today is just a Pack Opener day. I’ll start with opening some packs, then I’ll summon the Synchroes I have.

I have two sets to open, and I think I’ll do 20 packs of each. Starting with .

Yeah, it got better. I got four new cards.

Sword Master is a Tuner, which is nice, but its effect is basically useless and it lacks stats.

Codarus is fine, nice to have a baby Daedalus.

Fiendish Chain is OP, and I think I’ll install a copy into myself. It should fuse with my Dark Chain skill, and hopefully allow Dark Chain to prevent anyone bound by it from using their skills.

Reptilianne Vaskii is fine. Just a shame it has that ‘cannot be normal summoned or set’ restriction. Other than that, perfectly good snake lady.

… maybe I should Reverse Union with her or a different Reptilianne monster. I should gain a Naga or Lamia race from it.

Changing Destiny sounds like it would be a powerful card, but it is actual trash. Why would I ever use something like it?

Ascending Soul is fine-ish. Recovering a monster used as a tribute for a Ritual summon isn’t terrible, but nothing great either.

Rose Fairy is fine in the TCG, but for me, it is just a weak monster. But because she is a small fairy, she has her uses. Is she even a her? Do fairies have genders? Whatever.

Viper's Rebirth is a sucky Monster Reborn replacement. Is what I would say if it didn’t have that last effect. Seriously. Why does it destroy the summoned monster during the end phase? There is no reason to have that limitation.

Ritual Cage is great. Protects Ritual monsters from monster effects.

And sadly, Ogre of the Scarlet Sorrow sucks. It tries to be GorzGorz the Emissary of Darkness, but it just isn’t.

Meteor Flare is new, and if it wasn’t for the restriction on activation, I’d call it great. 2000 burn damage is huge. Well, Erasure Magic for that part of the effect is always an option.

Shield Worm is new. And it is okay. Not great, but just okay.

I already had a Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast, because I got it from the Fusion summoning challenge, but it is new from this set. And it is a decent beast.

Gravekeeper's Descendant is kind of meh. Destruction effects are nice, but tributing another monster for it is costly.

Gravekeeper's Visionary on the other hand is great. Gains attack for each Graveskeeper in the GY, and can prevent its own destruction. Nice.

Majestic Red Dragon!!! I got it! And I didn’t even need to full send it with tons of pack tokens!

And oh boy. You know I like the Majestic Star Dragon, and arguably, it is better than its Red counterpart. But I prefer Majestic Red Dragon. Just the power. It just hits differently.

… yeah, it was a bad joke, but whatever.

Zeman the Ape King is new, and it is pretty nice. Prevents Spells and Traps while attacking and can negate attacks. Just nice all around.

And the last pack had something new. Super-Nimble Mega Hamster. It's fine. The flip effect to set another Beast is nice. And its name is amazing.

Corridor of Agony is interesting, but useless for me. It is super debilitating for certain decks, but I think Skill Drain is still better in every way. It works on everything, and while it doesn’t do as much as Corridor of Agony, the general nature makes Skill Drain better.

Morphtronic Vacuumen sucks, but I guess if I want to make a vacuum cleaner.

And Blackwing - Backlash is Mirror Force with extra steps. Doesn’t make it bad, but … Actually, considering that Mirror Force reflects the attack back at the attacker, maybe Blackwing - Backlash does something else, like summoning a murder of birds to bully the attacker. I need to test it out.

Genex Undine is nice. It can make new Genex Controllers.

Wattfox is meh.

Memory Crush King is way too situational.

Wattgiraffe if … okay. Direct attacking is not the best, but not the worst either. And the ‘Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of this turn’ is just a nice bonus.

Synchro Magnet … why? Why can’t you be normal summoned or set? You’d actually be decent if you could.

Genex Controller is nothing special, just a normal monster tuner. But most Genex monsters require Controller, or a monster that can become a Controller, so nice to have the actual monster.

Wattwoodpecker … should really have higher stats. Double attacking is nice, but the ‘cannot change battle position’ is trash, and with only 1000 attack, you aren’t running over much.

Genex Searcher is okay. It is a battle recruiter for Genex monsters.

Koa'ki Meiru Prototype is interesting. It has no maintenance cost like all the other Koa'ki Meiru monsters do, instead, it can destroy itself to save another Koa'ki Meiru from being destroyed because of the maintenance cost, or if another Koa'ki Meiru is destroyed because of the maintenance cost, it summons a token. A well designed card in my opinion. Only wish it could special summon itself if you control another Koa'ki Meiru monster. Then it would be fantastic.

Magidog is okay. Decent stats, looks cute, yes that is important, and an effect when used as a Synchro material.

ZERO-MAX is fine, even if it is only a Monster Reborn replacement.

Also, like with Absolute Powerforce, the first 10 packs of The Shining Darkness had 2 super rares, but no other higher rarity cards. I just find that interesting.

Magic Triangle of the Ice Barrier is normally situational, but I can just force the requirement it has. But even then, unlimited summons, so I don’t need it.

And then there is Black-Winged Dragon. … It sucks normally, but it is actually decent for me. Negating effect damage is just good, and since the dragon doesn’t have to attack, its reducing attack stat doesn’t matter that much.

So yeah. Black-Winged Dragon is nice.

But it was the ghost rare Black-Winged Dragon, so it isn’t that bad.


Now, last thing. Summoning the Synchro monsters I have.

I don’t have that many, only seven. And that will only get me one more reward. But it is still worth doing.

Interesting rewards. Shooting Riser Dragon is nice, and I honestly do lack Synchro Tuners. Stardust Trail on the other hand is super pretty. Also, her effect practically yells: “I help in summoning Majestic Star Dragon!”
