CH.484 Making equipment for the Adventuring tournament

CH.484 Making equipment for the Adventuring tournament

Today was a simple day. Kind of. We were making the equipment Einar, Eline and Unika will use for the adventuring tournament.

Yes, they could in theory use their standard equipment, but there are rules for the tournament on what you can and cannot use. For example, your sword can only be so sharp, have only so much penetration and so on. Basically rules that will reduce the damage your opponents will take.

So if they used their standard equipment, we’d have to dull them down and dis-enchant them to fit the tournament rules.

I could probably get most of those rules struck down if I agreed to be their healthcare provider, given that I can literally resurrect people, but that won’t be taking part this year. … Well, technically it is next year, as the tournament is at the start of the new year, but whatever.

Speaking of the tournament, I got an interesting offer from Wendy. Yes, the Hero’s descendant Wendy. She asked if I’d be willing to take part in an exhibition match, which I naturally agreed to. I wasn’t going to take part in the tournament, as I feel like it would be cheating, but an exhibition match will be fun.

I do wonder, who will I face? Depending on how strong they are, maybe I’ll go without any of my cards. I think I can take on an S-rank adventurer without them. Maybe.

But that also means I’ll need some nice equipment for the exhibition match. Aka. I need new armor, and my dragon scale armor won’t be ready in time. Sure I could just use my armored jacket, but I feel like that isn’t quite up to stuff.

I’ll also need a different sword. Sure I could use my mithril sword or even Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword, but using Errelitea would be complete overkill. And the mithril sword might not be good enough.

So I decided to make myself a new star titanium sword. And I’d make it all by myself, because I should be able to. And thanks to Stardust Dragon, and the rest of the Star Dragons, we have plenty of star titanium to work with, so even if my sword ends up being not so good, it won’t matter all that much. I’ll probably sell the sword afterwards anyway.

So while I was working on my own stuff, Wilma, Karl, Stina and Elma worked hard to make tournament allowed equipment for the others.

My beast-folk squad, or Card Beasts, as their party name was, also had some studying to do, as they needed to learn the spells that will be allowed in the battle tournament.

I was quite glad with what I made for myself. My Stardust Armor, as I ended up naming this set, came out very nice. It isn't a legendary tier, but still good. It was full plate armor, which I don’t really like because it gets in the way of my skills, but it is showy, so it is perfect for an exhibition match.

As for its stats, well, it is pretty nice.

Stardust Armor - Full set

Durability 4800/4800
Mana 600/5000

Defense +1600
Light Resistance - Light Magic damage reduced by 90%
Space Resistance - Space Magic damage reduced by 90%
Space Boost - Space Magic boosted by 35%
Stardust Repair - By filling the armor with Stardust, the armor will repair itself.
Special: Space Bubble - By filling the armor with sufficient mana, the spell Space Bubble may be instantly casted without any chant.

Description: An armor set made of a legendary metal, but because of the lack of love put into it, it didn’t reach legendary status.

As the armor is made of Star Titanium, the armor will repair itself if it is filled with Stardust.

Because it was made of star titanium, it is highly resistant to Light and Space Magic, and boosts the wearer’s Space Magic.

Because of the spell circle carved into the armor, by supplying sufficient mana, the armor will automatically cast the Space Bubble spell.

So yeah. It is kind of good, but honestly, my armored jacket is arguably better because it just has a general 90% magic resistance. But that is because of the install, which I could put into the Stardust Armor, but I won’t, because this is a showpiece, not something for real combat.

The Space Bubble special is really nice. Space Bubble isn’t the best defensive spell, as it isn’t as durable as even a standard Space Wall, but in return, the bubble does completely surround you and it also follows your movements.

So yes, it is nice and convenient, and it is also a bit showy, so perfect for what I want, which is why I picked that spell to be a part of the armor. And yes, I did pick the spell. I had to carve a spell circle in the armor for it and everything.

But let’s get to my sword. Naturally called the Stardust Sword.

Stardust Sword

Durability 5000/5000
Mana 750/4500

Thrusting - Damage done by thrusting attacks ignores 15% of the target's defenses.
Slashing - Damage done by slashing attacks ignores 20% of the target's defenses
Stardust Repair - By filling the sword with Stardust, the sword will repair itself.
Special: Spacial Rend - By filling the sword with sufficient mana, the spell Spacial Rend may be instantly casted without any chant.

Description: A sword made of a legendary metal, but left purposefully dull to not damage the opponent too much. By showing it more love, a legendary sword could be made.

As the blade is made of Star Titanium, the sword will repair itself if it is filled with Stardust.

Because of the spell circle carved into the sword, by supplying sufficient mana, the sword will automatically cast the Spacial Rend spell.

And there is the sword I’ll be using. It is kind of bad, but it is that way on purpose. The tournament rules ban any sword with a penetration of more than 20%, and this thing is right on the edge of that.

The only questionable part about this sword is the Special Rend special I carved into it. Special Rend is quite the high tier spell, and can definitely damage my opponent a lot.

Oh, I guess I could tell you what the spell does. It sends a flying slash of Space Magic at the opponent that can potentially cut them in half, if they don’t have the defenses to stand up to it. … or you know, if they don’t dodge. It is a powerful spell, but decently easy to counter.

It is a great spell to use on a stationary opponent to finish them off, or using it to destroy something like a wall you want to get through, but in a fight with a lot of movement, it isn’t all that great. But it is cool looking, which is why I went with it.

As for the equipment for the Card Beasts, well, theirs had to follow the same rules on penetration and so on, so it wasn’t all that special.

Einar had twin-swords made of steel. Nothing crazy honestly, but they will work. It did have decently high fire resistance, because then Unika could use her Foxflames to set the swords on fire, but other than that, basic.

Eline had a new staff made mostly of metal. It also had a Lightning magic stone in it to boost her lightning magic by the allowed 20%.

And Unika had a bow that, like the other tools, was nothing special. The bow’s main body was made of metal, and the limbs were slightly sharpened for use in combat.

Their armor was a bit better, but like with the weapons, there were limits to how good your armor could be. So I can’t just make them parasitic jackets or something else on that level. In fact, my Stardust Armor is way over the usual limits, but a showmatch is hopefully a special case, and I’ll take the armor off anyway when I go dragon mode.

All three of them had similar armored jackets, which we ended up calling the Card Beast armored jackets. All of them had the HomeBase mark, as well as an additional mark that I ‘stole’ from the Beast-Warrior type monsters. It will be their team mark for the tournament, so I wanted the armor to have it.

Spoiler

The armors came with +400 defense, which is a bit below the allowed 500, but good enough. They also came with magic, slashing and piercing resistance, all at the allowed 20%.

All in all, they are pretty decent, and should hopefully be enough for whatever they will face.

But that will be it for the tournament preparations. I have something else I’ll do for now. And that something is completing .

Yeah, I know what you are going to say. ‘You just got Hidden Arsenal 1, why are you rushing it?’ Well, the reason is actually quite simple. Hidden Arsenal only has a total of 30 cards, and I already have 23 of them. So I’ll just set up some Capsules to get the rest of them, and I’ll be done.

So let’s go over those missing cards.

Commander Gottoms, Swordmaster is decent, ish. 400 attack boost for all ‘Saber’ monsters is okay, but nothing crazy. He also isn’t a ‘Saber’ monster himself, sadly.

Mist Valley Thunderbird is meh as anything. It can have some decent combos in the TCG, but for me, it is pretty useless.

Worm Erokin is bad. Once per turn, turn a Worm face down. Just no.

Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier is great. … well, decent. Return to hand effects aren’t as good here as they are in the TCG, but even outside of the effect, Brionac has decent stats and a design I like.

Flamvell Uruquizas does piercing damage and gains attack each time it inflicts battle damage, so yeah, it is good.

Mist Valley Shaman gains attack by returning a different monster to the hand, which is fine and all, but it can only gain a +500 at one time, so it really can’t get to high numbers.

And X-Saber Airbellum is super meh. Forcing your opponent to discard a card doesn’t do anything if they don’t have any cards.

Spoiler

And now that I have some more Synchro monsters, I can get the next reward for the Synchro challenge. So let’s quickly summon all of these monsters, so I can get the Smartfon. And I guess the Powertool retrain will also be cool.

So I summoned Ally of Justice Catastor; Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier; Flamvell Uruquizas; Mist Wurm and X-Saber Urbellum.

Spoiler

I then claimed my Smartphone and Braver Dragon, summoned Braver Dragon, before heading for my office, so I can take the smartphone apart to see how it works.
