CH.482 Beast-folk Evolutions
CH.482 Beast-folk Evolutions
“Master. I’ve come to inform you that three of your workers are evolving, and have been placed into evolution tanks.” Ernus, in her maid form, came to the enchanting part of the Workshop and informed me.
“I see. Who all are evolving?” I asked, but I did have an idea.
“Unika, Einar and Eline.” Ernus confirmed two of the assumptions. Didn’t expect Unika to evolve just yet though. I actually assumed that Valoa was going to evolve, as he did just reach LV.30, and while that is low for an evolution, low level evolutions are more common with beast-folk, and Valoa has some decently high level skills for his level.
“Alright.” I accepted the information. “Make sure Maya, Valoa and Olia know what is happening. Also inform Lua, she will have to do a medical check on them after the evolution.”
“Yes, Master.” Ernus said. She then bowed before leaving the room.
Well, I suppose the training Unika, Einar and Eline have put into taking part in that adventuring tournament is really paying off.
After I was done with my current items, I made sure to visit the MedBay. I just wanted to see for myself that everything is fine. And it turned out to be a good thing, as I found Nio sitting right next to her tamer’s evolution tank.
The small winged fox was such a strange thing in my eyes. With almost every monster, the larger they are, the more powerful they are. But this little bibi is smaller than the D-rank forest foxes of this world, so it is just … I don’t know how monsters work.
The winged fox seemed happy to see me, even if I couldn’t talk to him like Unika could. I guess he enjoys our playtime.
And don’t be mad at me because I use skills on it. Dark Chain and Restraining Sword Barrage are both skills that do basically no damage, and are mostly used for crowd control and stunning opponents.
And honestly speaking, Nio is a perfect target to practice those skills on. He is so fast that it is legitimately difficult to hit him with the swords or the chains, so my aiming ability with the skills is improving quickly thanks to him.
I gave the fox a quick snack, checked the reading on the evolution tanks and left the MedBay.
Because Unika was out, I covered for her in the Stables. She was the one to usually feed all of our tamed monsters, since she is the best tamer on HomeBase. I did visit the stables every day, because of Rani and Glad, but Unika, Molly and Cina were the three responsible for the area.
I was glad to see that they have been doing an excellent job with the area, as it was very clean considering what it is used for. All of the monsters also seemed happy, which is always a plus.
I asked Molly and Cina if they had everything there covered while Unika was out, and the two promised me they could deal with most things. The only thing they weren’t so sure on was Nitrum, Unika’s hippogriff.
Like Glad, Nitrum is quite … specific about people. I think it is a hippogriff thing. They like only people they approve of.
Lucky me, Nitrum respected Glad, and since Glad was my monster, that courtesy somewhat extended to me, so I was able to deal with the hippogriff for the day.
After making sure the two got their daily exercise, I cleaned both of them up with Spirit Magic. Sure I could do it by hand like Unika does, but I’m lazy and magic is faster.
By the next morning, the beast-folks evolutions had ended and we were just waiting for them to wake up.
There were some noticeable changes on them already, like the second tail Unika now had and the pair of wings on Einar.
Eline was the first of the three to wake up, so I got a look at her status first.
Eline evolved into a Night-Lightning Cat-folk, which naturally is because of her Dark Lightning skill. And her evolution came with access to Lightning Magic, which she should be able to use with Dark Lightning for even more powerful lightning attacks.
Appearance wise, Eline didn’t change all that much. Her hair was still dark black, her tail was still a regular cat tail, and she didn’t have any new body parts.
Her hair did have a single bright streak running through it, which maybe kind of looked like a lightning bolt if you wanted to look at it that way.
Next to wake up was Einar.
As I mentioned earlier, Einar now had wings. His race, Night-Wing Cat-folk, and with it came the racial skill Winged Flight.
He also has some other new skills, but I won’t be mentioning them, as you can see them yourself.
Last to wake up was naturally Unika. And her status showed something I didn’t expect.
Yeah. So I knew Unika was close to level 99, but I didn’t hear she reached it. That is why I didn’t expect her to evolve. But apparently taming an S-rank monster got her the Limit Break skill, she got to LV.100 and evolved.
She also got the Tamer of an Obscure Monster title, which just makes taming rare monsters easier. Not that I really know what the System considers ‘rare’.
But enough about that. Let’s talk about her race. Multi-Tailed Flame Fox-kin is actually nothing that rare, but it is the direct route towards becoming a kitsune, so that is cool. But there is the ‘problem’ of Unika’s class race. Mainly the fact that she has two of them. I didn’t know that was possible, because I’ve never seen someone with two class races, and One of Every Race doesn’t allow me to have multiple class races active at the same time.
Maybe One of Every Race just isn’t high enough level for that yet, or maybe this is another System experiment. But if this is an experiment, why didn’t they give Unika a System Support to keep an eye on her?
Yeah. It must just be rare to have two class races and not something that is happening for the first time ever.
With all of them evolved, it was time to help them get used to their new skills. I couldn’t really help Unika much, but I can use Lightning Magic, through the use of Spirit Magic. And naturally I also have Winged Flight, so I was able to help Einar and Eline get used to their new skills. Unika would just have to work by herself.
But there was something I could still help her with, and that was Beast Union. I got the skill thanks to Pan, and I definitely didn’t force Pan to do anything, but I may or may not have gotten Pan to get Mutant, her greater spirit of beasts, to bless Unika.
The blessing isn’t actually necessary to get the Beast Union skill, but it does help, so a little bit of coercion should be allowed.
And soon enough, Unika was able to perform a Beast Union. But she also learned something else interesting.
She could use Beast Union in reverse. Instead of her entering the body of a tamed beast, adding her own stats to the stats of the beast and taking control over its body, she could let one of her tamed beasts become a part of her, boosting her stats.
It was quite something, especially since all the monsters she did it with were foxes. Because when Unika did the reverse Union, she would grow an extra tail, as a mark of the beast that Unioned with her.
And when she Unioned with Nio, she would even get wings. And since Nio knew how to fly, Unika could fly while in a Union with him.
So that is how my little beast squad is doing. Soon enough the adventuring tournament will be here, and then they can show the world how powerful they really are.
