Pot of Greed |
Wow! I got a Pot of Greed. That’s a good card.
“Well now I got cards, how do I use them. Support system can you explain.”
(Yes Master. Cards are used by holding one in your hand and saying its name.)
“Okay. And what do the cards do?”
(Monster cards summon a monster to fight for you. Spell and trap cards activate a magical effect that depends on the card.)
“Makes sense. So what do the spells I got do?”
(‘Sparks’ deals damage to all enemies in target area. ‘Dragon Treasure’ permanently boosts the power of 1 dragon. ‘Mountain’ powers up all dragon, winged beast and thunder monsters under the user for 1 hour. ‘Pot of Greed’ grants 2 ‘pack tokens’.)
“So I can get more packs with it. Pot of Greed rocks. So to use it, I just hold it in my hand and say its name.”
(Yes Master.)
I grab the floating Pot of Greed card from the pack opening menu and feel it in my hand. It feels just like I remember. I guess this world can recreate the cards accurately. Or are they just teleported here?
“Hey system support. Do you know, are these cards made by the world or teleported here from my world?”
(No information available.)
“Well I thought as much. Not like it really matters. It does suck a little if they are some knockoff cards, but what you gonna do. I mean it’s not like someone will come and tell me my cards are fake.”
As I look closely at the card in my hand, the pack opener menu minimizes to the left corner of my vision. I guess I really just have to go for it.
“I activate Pot of Greed! It allows me to draw 2 cards!”
(No it does not Master. It makes you gain 2 ‘pack tokens’.)
“Come on. It’s just a reference. Next you are gonna tell me that pot of greed is banned.”
(I do not understand what you mean by a card being banned.)
“It has things to do with the game these cards were made for.”
(Understood.)
2 ‘pack tokens’ gained |
The machine sounding voice said in my head. Nice, more packs for me. More chances to get Blue-Eyes. As I think that the Pot of Greed card in my hand vanishes.
As I’m about to ask the system about the card vanishing…
Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang
Loud banging began to ring from one wall of the cave. Like many people were trying to brake through a wall.
“System support, what is that banging?”
(Monsters of the dungeon are trying to break in to kill whoever destroyed the dungeon core. It is a reflex of the dungeon to set all monsters inside to maximum hostility just before their death to get revenge on their killer. Normally it is not a problem because the person who destroys the dungeon core would have to make their way through the dungeon and that would cut down the number of monsters. But Master is a special case.)
“So, me appearing here and killing the dungeon is why all the monsters in the dungeon are now after me. Great!”
(Yes Master. This is not a great place to be at the moment.)
“So system, can you tell what monsters are coming and how many of them are there?”
(There are goblins and kobolds. Total number at the door is 52. 138 more are in the dungeon making their way to this room.)
“Well that’s just great, isn’t it. Almost 200 enemies against just me. Fuck my life.”
(Good luck Master.)
“Are you hoping I will die? What will happen to you if I die anyway?”
(If Master dies I will also die with you. I am part of the system that is linked with you for life, so your death means my death.)
“Then why are you so passive aggressive. Can you at least help me come up with a plan before that wall comes down?”
(I recommend summoning a monster. Goblins and kobolds are weak compared to monsters in Masters cards.)
“Yeah, that makes sense. Actually, how strong is a goblin compared to my cards?”
(It would be around 50 atk and 20 def.)
“Then why in the world does Goblin attack force have 2300 attack.”
(Data not available on card ‘Goblin attack force’. Cannot answer.)
“Well not like it matters at the moment. What monster would you recommend I summon?”
(‘Uraby’ or ‘Frenzied Panda’ recommended. They have a good balance of attack and defense. They will also be capable of taking attention away from Master. Additionally, use of ‘Sparks’ can thin out the herd of goblins and kobolds. They should die from 1 hit from ‘Sparks’.)
“Okay. So sparks, panda and dino.”
As I say that I grab the 3 cards from my pack opening menu, holding them in my right hand. Then I close the pack opening menu so it doesn’t distract me.
“We can do this. How does monster summoning even work? Is it different from a spell?”
(Monster is summoned by holding its card in your hand and saying its name. You must keep the card in your hand while the monster is summoned or it gets automatically unsummoned. You can only hold one summoned monster card in each hand.)
“So only a total of 2 monsters at once. That’s not that many, but I’ll deal with it. Can I activate spell cards while a monster is summoned?”
(Spell and trap cards can be used normally while a monster is summoned.)
“Good. I think we are ready to go. How long will it take for the monsters to break that wall anyway?”
(Estimated time for wall breaking is 140 seconds.)
Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang
Well the banging had definitely increased so the number of monsters by the door probably has as well.
“How many monsters will be by the door when the wall breaks down?”
(Estimation is 105. At most it should be 120.)
“And will sparks kill all 105 of them?”
(No. If ‘Sparks’ lands well it will kill around 70 monsters.)
“So up to 50 survivors and another 70 in the dungeon after that.”
I pull up my pack opening menu again and take Skull Red Bird and Kagemusha of the Blue Flame cards out. I put the 2 cards in my right and left pockets for quick access. I really hope I don’t have to use all of them for this escape but I will do what I must to survive.
As I think that a panel appears.
