Chapter 180 - 180 Anamoly 2
180 Anamoly Layton looked at the hideous creature with a hint of admiration in his gaze, his admiration wasn’t directed towards the brutish abomination but towards its creator and the subtlety that was used in his creation, during the short exchange of moves Layton had gained a little bit of insight towards its mechanics, the creature was a biological creation most likely sourced from the corpse of the previous guardian who was adept at the laws of lightning, the creature inherited these laws and the creator had used them to build a simple defence and attack mechanism which allowed the creature to make use of certain peculiarities of law based attacks to achieve its defence and speed up its evolution. In simple terms the creature had instinctively urged the lightning laws it inherited, the urging of these laws naturally required energy which in most cases were sourced from the environment but in this case, the laws which were engraved in its genome propelled the reaction to occur internally and this reaction ensured that the energy of Layton’s attack which it had forcefully absorbed earlier was quickly changed and converted to a familiar form by the law which was lightning, it was then condensed into an attack and propelled from its maw. It was this same ingenious mechanism that allowed it to absorb energy and biological matter haphazardly without worry as with the presence of the law the energy would be quickly converted into lightning energy and electromagnetic fields of various intensities which would then propel its swift evolution and protection in the event of a crisis.
Although Layton had faint admiration for the creature’s mechanics he didn’t waver in the slightest, he merged with the surrounding space and quickly moved to the other side of the creature dodging the lightning attack, although the attack had caused ripples in space and creating a slight magnetic confinement along its path of travel, it still wasn’t enough to strike Layton, he had simply dispersed his form turning back into a bunch of atoms and then followed the ripples in space to evade the attack and emerged once more at the opposite side of the creature’s maw. With his palm descending down towards the creature space rippled as a small singularity was born in the centre of his palms this singularity under Layton’s urging quickly enlarged engulfing the creature. All these happened so quickly that the creature had no chance to react, the singularity wasn’t a simple one either it was a result of Layton’s insights from the Rosetta and a reenactment of the singularity that almost killed him when he was attacked on the way to the camp. The singularity simply tore apart the surrounding matter separating it into energy and information and then scattering it into minute bits throughout the universe, perpetually erasing it from existence and ensuring the chances of reemergence were at an all-time low. The singularity having completed its mission quickly dissipated as fast as it appeared, Layton floated in the emptiness of space staring at the wreckage around as if he was searching for something, about a minute later he shuttled through space leaving the area.
Layton naturally wasn’t just floating there because he wanted to catch his breath or recover his energy instead he was gazing at the atoms and light that were around trying to shift through their signals, fluctuations and information to find a trace of the creator of the creature he just killed, although he couldn’t get a clear picture of the individual he quickly found something different and following those traces, he quickly left the area and went after the perpetrator.
A few light years away on a small planet a figure walking on a busy road suddenly stopped its movement and stared into the sky, her bright brown eyes seemed to ignore what was directly in front of her but instead her gaze seemed to lock unto something deeper. Her soft brown locks hung haphazardly on her head and her figure seemed to blend with the surroundings as she opened her shut lips and spoke lightly,
“I didn’t expect you would lock my location so easily” With her words all life on the planet seemed to screech to a halt and Layton who had just arrived not that long ago had no choice but to emerge from the shallow layer of space he was hiding in.
“How did you find me.” She asked curiously, she had been extremely careful once she made the trip towards the human race territory, she had kept her strength on a tight leash, her body tightly sealed no interaction with the outside world she didn’t even breathe, her moves quick and efficient leaving the least traces and once she successfully dealt with her blocker she destroyed all live in the planet refrained from using the plundered vitality and corpses but instead fused them together to form a monster and kept in the planet’s core ensuring the planet would inevitably be destroyed covering up the last traces of her activities. If all went well the monster would take the blame once fully grown, even if it was discovered prematurely it wouldn’t matter as she wouldn’t be easily found as she was careful enough to ensure the monster’s birth did not contain any traces of her intervention as although the creatures birth was artificial its growth process and evolution was as natural as possible. So she was genuinely curious how she was found so quickly, she knew there was no foolproof method and it was possible she would be found but she never expected it to be so fast.
Layton did not bother to dignify the question with an answer, although she had hidden her traces it wasn’t enough, her mass left an imprint on the space, her figure affected the light around and her movement affect the atoms around, Layton could easily use these traces that wouldn’t be noticed by the average person to pinpoint her location. The only reason Layton hadn’t attacked yet was that he was observing his surroundings with his unique perspective, trying to understand and decipher the means by which she had controlled all life on the planet in a matter of seconds.
