Chapter 5 Heartless Woman
Zhou Liying returned to her penthouse and directly made her way toward the bathroom. She took a long cold shower, to take back her emotions under her control. She'd not fall weak.
After the shower, she came out of the bathroom and entered the walk-in closet. She changed into her office attire. She wore a black pencil skirt with a striped white and black shirt. She tied her long, black and silky hair in a ponytail.
She applied liner on her eyelid and lip gloss to her lips.
Her eyes which were filled with pain and guilt were now filled with sharpness and heartlessness. She was giving away an aura of a dangerous person, of an asura.
She looked nothing less than a business tycoon!
After picking up her office bag, she made her way out of her penthouse and out of the building. A chauffeur-driven Maybach was already waiting for her.
"Good morning Miss." Her driver greeted her. Completely ignoring him, she entered the car.
She knew how to drive a car but like all rich tycoons, she preferred her car to be driven by a driver because it saved her time. In the meantime, she did many important business-related works on her I-pad.
Once Zhou Liying arrived at her office building, she took the private elevator and it took her directly to her office.
"Good morning miss." Her secretary greeted her and passed her a cup of her favourite, Starbucks coffee.
Zhou Liying picked up her coffee cup while listening to her schedule for the day which was narrated by her secretary, Min Yue.
She leisurely leaned on her chair and drank her coffee. Her fingers tapped on the office table. Diamond rings on her fingers glittered under office light.
"Miss, shareholders have called for a shareholder's meeting this afternoon."
"Really?" Zhou Liying lifted her right brow in a perfect arc.
"After the rumours that you have a fallout with the president, they are assuming that your powers have decreased. They are planning to remove you from your post of CEO." There was a concern and worry in her voice.
"Fools." Zhou Liying chuckled, her eyes darkened with humour, looking at which Min Yue calmed down.
"Miss, you are planning something, right?"
p
Min Yue was a very close subordinate of Zhou Liying. Before being her secretary, She was a poor waitress. Luckily, she was able to impress Zhou Liying with her skills and soon, she became the personal assistant of Zhou Liying.
Min Yue was one of the persons who understood the meaning behind the expressions of Zhou Liying. She saw Zhou Liying doing many bad dealings and she knew Zhou Liying could be worse.
**
Min Yue was typing a contract over her laptop when she noticed, one of the oldest and biggest shareholders of Zhou corporation walking toward the office of Zhou Liying.
"Mister Li, how can I help you?" She stopped him in his way. She was strictly instructed to never let anyone enter the office of Zhou Liying without her permission.
"I want to see Zhou Liying." The man spoke arrogantly, showing off his superiority over Zhou Liying. He was a part of this corporation for the last forty-one years where Zhou Liying for merely three years.
"Let me take the permission from miss?"
"Do you need to take her permission to let me in her office?" Mister Li fumed with anger. "You know who I am, right?"
"I know who you are and you also know who my miss is?" she spoke coldly and returned to her station to make a call to Zhou Liying.
Mister Li stood frozen on his spot after hearing Min Yue. He knew who Zhou Liying was, and he'd not dare to enter her office without her permission.
"You can go in."
Mister Li entered the office and looked at Zhou Liying, sitting like a queen on her office chair.
'What does she think of herself? So much arrogance!' he grumbled under his breath before forcing a smile on his lips.
"Liying, I heard about the shareholders' meeting." He faked a honey-coated voice and without any permission, took his seat opposite Zhou Liying.
"You must be aware that your chances to save your seat are quite less. So, I am here to give you my support." He grinned, displaying his yellow teeth. Zhou Liying inwardly scoffed.
"And who said my chances are less?"
"Liying, we are family." She lifted her brows upon hearing him. "I know you fought with Yonge and now, you don't have his support. Only twenty-one per cent of shares are left in your name. Without his support, you cannot win."
"So, what do you suggest Mister Li?"
"You know my family has twelve per cent of shares and if I give you my support, you can surely save your seat."
"And what do you want in return?" she asked, without beating around the bushes.
"Smart, so smart." He grinned. "If you can make my son the head of the US branch then I will give you my support. We both will be in a win-win situation that way."
Without waiting for a second, he passed an already prepared contract to her. It stated that his son would become the manager of the US branch and he'd support Zhou Liying.
She smiled, but her smile didn't reach her eyes. Her eyes sparkled with cunningness and she lifted the contract.
Mister Li smiled like a fool, seeing her picking up the contract.
"No thank you, Mister Li, I don't need your help." And with that, she tore the contract into pieces. A dark look appeared on the face of Mister Li when he looked at his contract being torn into shreds.
"Don't be so arrogant Liying. If not me, who will help you? You know most of the shareholders are against you." He raged.
"I don't need the help of anyone to save my seat. Now leave. I don't have much time to waste on you."
Without batting an eyelash toward the fuming man, Zhou Liying turned her complete attention toward her laptop.
"You heartless b! tch. You will regret it. I will see what you will do after losing your position." Mister Li stumped his foot and left her office, completely unaware of the coldness flashing in the eyes of Zhou Liying.
She picked up her mobile and quickly made a call. "Liam, I have an assignment for you."
