Who Would Fall in Love After Being Reborn?

Chapter 243: Sleeping in Arms

Chapter 243: Sleeping in Arms

He Yijun and Yue Zhu were wildly speculating outside the hot pot restaurant, increasingly convinced of Jiang Qin’s unfathomable nature. Meanwhile, Jiang Qin was actually enjoying a meal inside with his roommates, separated from them by just a wall.

The meal was ostensibly to celebrate Ren Ziqiang’s fifth-place finish in the men’s kilometer race at the Linchuan University Spring Sports Meet. Although it sounded impressive, it wasn’t particularly remarkable.

However, that was irrelevant to them. After all, the true joy lay in enjoying a free hot pot feast.

Jiang Qin picked up a meatball from the hot pot and blew on it twice before feeding it to Feng Nanshu. The little rich lady only bit half and shook her head, appearing both silly and obedient.

“Don’t like meatballs?”

“Mhm,” Feng Nanshu nodded lightly.

Jiang Qin, who disliked wasting food, had no choice but to eat the remaining half. “What else would you like to eat?”

“I want another meatball,” Feng Nanshu said, pointing her pale fingers towards the pot.

“?”

Watching this, Cao Guangyu, Ren Ziqiang, and Zhou Chao were grinding their teeth in frustration, thinking how all the meat dishes they ordered to tease Jiang Qin turned into dog food in their mouths. It felt utterly unreasonable.

The most aggrieved was Cao Guangyu. Despite having a girlfriend and being the only one in the dorm with one, he still felt upstaged.

It was extremely annoying.

But they couldn’t complain. After all, the meal was on Jiang Qin, and as the saying goes, ‘the guest follows the host’s lead.’ They couldn’t just ask him not to show off.

Watching him savor the leftover bites, they couldn’t ask him to stop. If that upset him and he didn’t invite them next time, what would they do?

After whispering among themselves for a while, they found a way to not interrupt yet still feel better about themselves.

They hastily finished their meal, filling themselves up, then left Jiang Qin and Feng Nanshu behind to find an internet café.

Seeing the three leave, Feng Nanshu couldn’t help but open her cherry-red mouth and speak in a cool tone.

“Jiang Qin, I want to eat bamboo shoots.”

“Jiang Qin, a piece of meat…”

“And that, that star-shaped thing, one of those too.”

“Jiang Qin, Jiang Qin, I want that…”

The little rich lady was a pure foodie. Although she was picking her own food, she still wanted Jiang Qin to feed her. She would only eat half of what he fed her, then look at him seriously, as if this was a fun game.

Once or twice was fine, but after five or six times, Jiang Qin was sure she was doing it on purpose.

“Don’t just eat half. If you’re going to eat, eat it all, or I won’t feed you.”

“Then, then I’ll eat another meatball and stop.”

Feng Nanshu pursed her lips and said, then was fed a meatball, her cheeks puffing up, looking lively and cute.

People often have instincts they can’t explain but feel compelled to follow.

Like the little rich lady, not sure why she liked clinging to Jiang Qin so much, but knowing she was happy when she did.

Gao Wenhui said it was affection, and Feng Nanshu seriously agreed. However, she couldn’t understand how her special affection for Jiang Qin differed from ordinary affection.

You could call her naive, as she learned things faster than anyone and even dared to play dumb to deceive Jiang Qin.

But if you said she was smart, her simple world didn’t provide enough information to help her understand these complex concepts.

However, she had her own way of solving problems: following her heart. If she liked clinging to him, she would; if she liked being fed by him, she would let him. After all, Jiang Qin never got angry with her. If he disagreed, she would just call him brother.

“Are you full?”

“Yes.”

Jiang Qin wiped his mouth and left Wanzhong Mall with the little rich lady, calling Cao Guangyu and the others.

They were engrossed in playing CrossFire at the Jinshouzi Internet Café, so they asked Jiang Qin to bring Feng Nanshu and sit with them for a while before returning.

Jiang Qin had a good reputation with the school’s security office and even more so with the dormitory aunties, so he didn’t worry about curfew issues.

For Zhou Chao and Ren Ziqiang, who were usually cooped up in the dorm, a rare visit to the city was too good to cut short.

The internet cafés outside the school were not only in poor condition but also charged high fees. Nothing compared to the comfort of a city center internet café, with soft sofas and even the sight of young women in low-rise hot pants.

After a while, Jiang Qin brought Feng Nanshu into the internet café, where he found Cao Guangyu and the others fiercely engaged in their games.

“Jiang Qin, want to join us?”

“I don’t know how to play. Let’s leave after this game and get some sleep.”

“We rarely come to the city. Let’s play a bit longer.”

Jiang Qin looked around the internet café. “Then let’s change the location. I’ll get a private room at the front desk, and you guys can move there later.”

Ren Ziqiang, just killed in the game, removed his headphones and glanced at him: “Why waste money on that? The hall has a better atmosphere.”

“I saw someone looking at porn when I walked in.”

Truthfully, if it were just a group of guys, sitting in the hall would have been fine. However, Jiang Qin didn’t want Feng Nanshu to sit there with them, so he ignored the others’ opinions and got a six-seater private room.

The five packed up and moved. Those who were gaming continued, others chatted, and Jiang Qin opened a video site to watch a movie with the little rich lady.

Jiang Qin was somewhat unique, not really into gaming in either his past or present life. The only game he played was Peace Elite (PUBG Mobile I think), and that too only to make up numbers during the New Year, which he uninstalled after the holidays.

It wasn’t about being highbrow; he simply couldn’t understand game maps.

“Jiang Qin, I want to watch this.”

“Spirited Away? Didn’t you watch it already?” Jiang Qin asked.

Feng Nanshu nodded: “I want to watch it again.”

“There are other famous works by Miyazaki, have you seen My Neighbor Totoro?”

“No.”

Jiang Qin found a pirated site, downloaded My Neighbor Totoro, and began watching it intently with the little rich lady.

The internet café’s sofa chairs were narrow, with wide, thick armrests. In a word, clumsy. It was uncomfortable for two people to watch the same screen from separate chairs, straining their necks.

Feng Nanshu cleverly moved closer to Jiang Qin’s armrest, leaning her head against the back of the chair, gazing at the dreamlike scenes in the animated world with clear, bright eyes.

The next morning, Cao Guangyu emerged from the gaming world, stretching noisily, took a sip of iced tea, his eyes red.

“Damn, who’s even winning this game?”

“Pfft, dogs wouldn’t play this!”

He woke up Zhou Chao and Ren Ziqiang, discussing breakfast at a nearby shop. But when they got up, they saw an interesting scene.

Jiang Qin had fallen asleep on the sofa, with Feng Nanshu sitting in his embrace, her head on his shoulder, arms around his neck, half her face buried in his neck, sleeping sweetly.

“This is what you call good friends? I’ll take a dozen of such friends!”

“Shh, what’s all the noise? Let’s go out and get some buns.”

“Right, I remember Jiang loves three-flavored soup dumplings.”

“Let’s leave quietly, without making a scene.”

They tiptoed out of the room, then went to a nearby breakfast shop for buns and soy milk.

Meanwhile, Jiang Qin woke up feeling like he’d been wrestling for three days and nights and still lost, his whole body aching, especially his neck.

Opening his eyes, he was momentarily confused, then remembered he’d fallen asleep in the internet café.

He was holding a soft, warm girl—Feng Nanshu. Feeling her even breath on his neck, he gently moved up, withdrawing his numb hand, and softly stroked her disheveled hair.

It was his first time seeing the little rich lady’s sleeping form, adorable in her obedience.

But maybe due to the awkward position, a strand of drool escaped her slightly pouted lips onto Jiang Qin’s collar.

Jiang Qin wiped it off, inadvertently waking her.

They looked at each other, Feng Nanshu still dazed, snuggled up to him, then comfortably nestled back into his embrace, seemingly wanting more sleep.

“Jiang Qin, move your phone, it’s poking my butt.”

Jiang Qin glanced at his phone on the computer desk, speaking without emotion: “Wake up, little rich lady, we should head back to school.”

“I want to sleep a bit more,” Feng Nanshu murmured.

“If you sleep more, my neck will break.”

Feng Nanshu then sat up, rubbing her eyes, still sleepy: “Jiang Qin, you held me again.”

Jiang Qin chuckled: “It’s hard to say who was holding who.”

Feng Nanshu mumbled as she pulled out her phone, finding thirteen missed calls from Gao Wenhui and seven from Fan Shuling.

She considered calling Gao Wenhui back but was stopped by Jiang Qin.

With her staying out all night with him, Gao Wenhui’s imaginative nature might conjure up something outrageous.

Jiang Qin thought Fan Shuling, the more reliable dormitory leader with a less flamboyant personality than Gao Wenhui, wouldn’t misunderstand.

“Call Fan Shuling back.”

“Okay.”

Feng Nanshu, unsure why she couldn’t call Gao Wenhui but liking to follow Jiang Qin’s lead, called Fan Shuling.

Hearing she’d spent the night with Jiang Qin, Fan Shuling on the other end of the phone breathed a sigh of relief, then peppered them with questions, asking about their feelings, much to Jiang Qin’s chagrin.

Had the little rich lady’s roommates all been influenced by that toxic woman, Gao Wenhui?
