In Morpheus Online, the player actually had more equipment slots than many other games. Not just that, there were many equipment pieces that could actually be layered.
For example, one could wear armor on top of normal clothes. Usually the defense of the normal clothes was negligible so it didn't matter, but one could also find high quality clothes that offered different bonuses.
Thus one could actually stack them both, to obtain better effects.
For Arthur, it was just a basic thing as he only had armor for now while his clothes were the default ones. Though he didn't mind it as he knew he would be able to find some good ones later on.
"This'll make things easier." Arthur muttered to himself before heading towards his next quest location.
He still had the pelt of the Giant Dire Sewer Rat as well as its claws. He could have technically sold them to get more coins, but he didn't do that.
'Selling them will be a waste. I can make other stuff from them.' Arthur thought to himself.
He intended to do this, after finishing the quest he had been given. And the location he was asked to go to was the house of the Resident Mage of the Kestrel Village.
Mage was the general term for people who could use magic. There were many classes under the mage group, like sorcerers, elementalists, White Mages, Black Mages, and a lot more.
There was no lack of choice among the magic users, and it all came down to the player's own preference and Luck. Though obtaining the basic mage class still wasn't possible in the newbie village.
If one wanted a class, they first needed to reach level 10 and reach the next town. And since the newbie village was a low leveled area, there were not many strong NPC's here either. Though the resident mage could be considered as one of the strongest characters in the village.
"He really stays far away for being a resident mage... guess he doesn't like the other people as much." Arthur had to walk for about twenty minutes to reach the house of the resident mage.
He lived on the periphery of the village and lived in an unassuming wooden house. It looked the same as many other houses here and one wouldn't be able to tell that it belonged to a mage at all.
SHUA!
But when Arthur stepped through the gateway of the house, he felt a breeze flowing as well as a strange sound in his ears.
'Detection magic...' Arthur knew. 'Of course he would have it. He's still a mage even if he lives in such a house.'
"Who's there!" A hoarse voice came from the wooden house.
Creak!
Its door opened up, revealing an old man standing there. He had a long grey beard and was wearing a similar colored wide brimmed conical hat.
'Yup, he's sure a mage alright.' Arthur thought as he looked at what was the most generic looking mage one could think of.
"What do you want, kid?" The old mage looked at Arthur with a pissed of expression.
"I'm here to deliver a letter. It has come from Village Head Eneba himself." Arthur quickly replied.
He had heard some rumors about the old mage in his past life and knew that he was a character with short temper.
'If I recall correctly, didn't he trap a group of players and didn't let them go for two weeks or something?' Arthur remembered.
Two weeks of being trapped was a really bad thing for any player, especially when the game had just started up. If Arthur accidentally ended up in the same position, he would lose a majority of his advantage and his plans would all fail.
Thus, he had to ensure that the old man was as pleased as possible.
'It doesn't help that there was no proper information about this old man too. The players didn't even say why they were trapped by him...' Arthur thought to himself.
"A letter?" The old mage raised a brow. "Why would Eneba send someone like you for that?" he asked.
"It's due to the sensitivity of the issue, sir mage." Arthur replied. "If you read the letter, you will understand it all." He added.
"Mmmm... okay." The old man nodded his head and extended his hand. "Gimme that."
"Sure." Arthur quickly handed the letter that the Village Head had written.
RIP!
The old mage tore open the letter and read through its contents. The information written in it was short and concise, thus it didn't take him longer than a minute to go through it all. And when he was done, he couldn't help but look at Arthur with scrutiny.
"Are you Arzhur mentioned in this letter?" The old mage asked.
"Yes, sir." Arthur replied.
"And you said you killed a Giant Dire Sewer Rat and stopped their infestation?" he asked next.
"Yes sir, I have the proof too." Arthur took out the monster core he had obtained.
"What are you doing taking that out in the open!?" The old mage shouted. "Come on in. There are eyes everywhere." He ordered.
Arthur hurriedly walked in behind the old mage and saw the relatively simple looking interior of the house.
"Give me that monster core first." The old mage snatched the gem from Arthur's hand.
He looked at it for about a minute before a notification popped up in front of Arthur.
