Chapter 148 148. The God Of The New World [Time Skip: 100 Years]
"Haaa," letting out a long, deep breath, Sam looked out his window. "How long has it been?"
Massive architecture, flying cars, high-rise buildings— the view outside was totally that of the future.
It's been around a hundred years since Sam conquered the planet Earth. After that, with a few years' delay, he invaded Mars.
Mars was able to resist longer than Earth with the help of its advanced technology and warfare weapons of mass destruction.
However, in the end, they couldn't win against the person who could manipulate life. Since Sam's side didn't suffer any losses, but their side continued to thin.
After his victory over Mars, Sam united the people of both planets and made them work toward a better, brighter future.
He erased the concept of famine, corruption, borders, and such things that could in any way hinder humanity's growth as a species.
At first, he did it with force. But as things started to settle down, he understood that one couldn't suppress greed.
Even in this world that Sam created, he noticed that the humans were still greedy. They put themselves against each other.
Then it hit him.
You can't suppress greed, but you can redirect it.
Sam offered a reward system. Those who can please him with merits will have their lifespan increased. There's even a chance to become immortal.
Sure it wasn't as perfect as his hive-mind plan, but it worked. The people finally started to work together, albeit bit by bit.
Sam knew it wasn't something he could do in a day. And he did not need to. According to his estimation, it was going to take him a generation to completely erase the concept of division due to differences.
And sure enough, today, humanity is working as a single unit. Everything was perfect. No child was going to sleep hungry, and no adult was jobless. No one hated each other based on their skin color, lineage, gender, or religion.
It was a perfect world—a world where no one was suffering.
"Hahahaha! You lost again! You are bad at this, sire!"
Well, except for Sam himself. He was suffering. He was suffering a rather humiliating defeat by Lucas' hands at 3D chess.
"This isn't even an official game!" Sam argued.
"We are the authorities! We decide what's official and what's not!" Lucas countered.
"Thank you for proving my point," Sam said. "I announce that there's no such thing as 3D chess!"
"Haaaa!" Lucas took a dramatic gasp. "But that's monarchy!"
"You're just noticing now?!" Sam facepalmed.
Yeah, maybe Eve was right. Maybe Sam created this world because he wanted somewhere to belong. He wanted people to worship him.
And maybe, maybe, he didn't want any child to suffer as he did.
Every time his father used to beat him up, he used to think that a hero would storm into his room and save him.
After a few years, he gave up on that idea. No hero came for him. That's when it hit Sam. If no hero was coming to help Sam, then he would become his own hero.
That little idea, that notion of doing everything himself, became his personality.
So yeah, many could argue that Sam forged this world with the sole purpose of sitting on its throne, but no one could argue that there was not a single person suffering in this world.
At the cost of a billion lives, Sam created a just world. A world where no one can be harmed.
All it took was a hundred years to come true.
In today's world, the sobriquet of the Progenitor is not feared but worshiped.
In today's world, Sam is not known as a villain but as 'The Prince Of Heaven's Fall' and the 'God Of The New World.'
However, after knowing how many sentient lives are out there in the universe, this was not enough.
He couldn't help but think, just how many worlds could he save? Just how many planets can he bring peace to? Just how many worlds… are still not worshiping him.
Well, space travel was already possible.
So why was Sam not initiating an Interstellar conquest? Because Tracy, the girl who Sam trusted to decipher the texts related to Akashic Records, was still not done with her work even after a century.
"Arghh," Sam let out a frustrated sound. "Where is Tracy? It's been twenty years above the deadline she asked for! Is she still not done with her work?"
"Sire, she has completely shut herself in her room for the past thirty years," Lucas said while moving a pawn. "I think she's doing her best, so give her a break."
Sam nodded. He couldn't help but feel a little guilty for pressuring Tracy to do such a heavy task.
At first, Ryuusuke and Rudra helped, but after some time, they couldn't keep up with Tracy. So she started doing all the work alone. The poor guys were bummed.
"Oh, that reminds me, sire. I think it's time we kill him," Lucas said, striking up a conversation.
"Him who? Ohhhh! Anthony?" Sam widened his eyes. "Are you done with him?"
"Yeah, I think he broke. I mean, he was broken when you handed him to me, but now he's really broken. He's not even resisting a little now." Lucas replied.
"What about your sister? Does she want to have a go at him?" Sam said, moving a knight in response.
"Nah, I asked her, and she declined," Lucas shook his head and moved a rook.
"Well, nothing can be done about it, huh? I'll kill him today." Sam said, and as he was about to move a pawn…
-Slam!
The door to the room slammed open, making Lucas and Sam turn their heads toward it.
"Master… I did it!"
It was Tracy. She was holding a binder in her hands. On her right and left were Rudra and Ryuusuke, with bright grins on their faces.
"Tracy! Been a long time! You deciphered the text?" Sam stood up from his chair as Tracy walked over to him.
"Yes!" Tracy nodded enthusiastically. "You can read the report but let me summarize it for you first to save you the trouble."
Sam nodded and gestured to her to go on.
Tracy bowed her head and started speaking, "The Akashic Records are basically the records of everything– the past, the present, and the future.
"From what I gathered, it has given a fraction of its powers to three individuals in this universe. They and their descendants possess this power in order to achieve one thing— to keep the universe in peace and not let anyone threaten the existence of Akashic Records."
"Hmm, that's it?" Sam scratched his chin. "I get a general idea, but there's nothing of more informational value there?"
After a bit of thinking, Tracy answered, "These texts and the information in them came from Starsuper himself. If you seek more information, we can always just travel to the planet he came from."
Sam widened his eyes in surprise, "You're saying you know where Starsuper's planet is?"
"He!" Tracy gave one of her signature cocky smiles and replied, "I do."
