Villain Is Bodyguard of Heroine’s Poisonous Stepmother

Chapter 129: His Filial Piety

Chapter 129: His Filial Piety

Gu Wanyu left reluctantly after dawdling for a long time. Chen Luo now had several women, and although Gu Wanyu was the oldest among them, she was also the most clingy.

Holding the list Gu Wanyu had given him, Chen Luo’s face showed a flicker of coldness.

“Win over those who can be, for the rest, there’s no choice but to eliminate them.”

Chen Luo planned to pass this list to Bai Meixiang, trusting that she would understand his intentions. After snapping a photo, he sent it to Bai Meixiang. Soon, a video came through.

“My dear master, by sending me this list, do you want me to act against these people?”

As expected, Bai Meixiang understood Chen Luo’s intentions.

“Exactly, keep it low-key. If possible, let the Luo family take the blame. If there are individuals among them who can be won over, try to do so,” Chen Luo instructed.

These were key figures in the Li family conglomerate. Removing them would surely cripple the Li family’s business operations substantially. The Li family had targeted his Morning Star conglomerate relentlessly with various sly tactics. This was Chen Luo’s counterstrike.

“I understand.”

“When will you come to see me, little master? I miss you,” Bai Meixiang cooed.

She teasingly unbuttoned one of her blouse’s buttons, offering Chen Luo a generous view. It was a truly dazzling spectacle. Furthermore, Bai Meixiang showcased her long legs clad in black silk, evidently seducing Chen Luo.

All the women Chen Luo had were far from ordinary, they all were exceptionally splendid.

Even after Gu Wanyu had just left and he had triumphed in a recent battle, Chen Luo found himself still tempted.

Lightly touching his nose, he admitted to himself that he was indeed somewhat of a lecher. With his robust physique, engaging in a few more battles wouldn’t pose a problem. While he had used the system to enhance their physical capabilities, they still fell short compared to him.

“I happen to be free, so I can head over now.”

“I’ll be waiting for you, my little master~! And I have a surprise for you.”

Initially, when their relationship hadn’t yet reached this level, she referred to him as Mr. Chen, but now calling him ‘little master’ showed Bai Meixiang’s deep understanding of him.

Chen Luo’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, curious about the surprise Bai Meixiang had in store.

Upon arriving at Bai Meixiang’s place and seeing her dressed in a JK uniform (T/N: this is a girl’s highschool uniform), he instantly grasped what the surprise was. With Bai Meixiang’s stunning figure and mature allure, she outshone many high school girls from Japan.

At Magic City Hospital, Li Zhong’s expression was somber.

“Are you sure Chen Luo was there, and that he’s responsible for your injuries?”

He too had conducted his own investigation, yet the findings showed that Chen Luo hadn’t been at the lakeside at that time.

“If he’s set on framing me, he would’ve made thorough preparations,” Ye Chen replied calmly, as if he had anticipated this response.

He also harbored hopes that Li Zhong could uncover something incriminating about Chen Luo, but it seemed an impossibility.

“It’s better we don’t stay in the hospital too long. I suggest we leave,” Ye Chen said.

“Why?”

“What if someone from Chen Luo’s camp sneaks in and tampers with the medication?”

Ye Chen was aware that Chen Luo wished for his death. Thus, even a hospital stay didn’t provide him with a sense of security, fearing that Chen Luo’s agents might infiltrate and manipulate his treatment.

Li Zhong, hearing this from Ye Chen, became genuinely concerned. Like many, Li Zhong valued his own life dearly.

Individuals in lofty positions dread death. Ask any magnate. Which one isn’t afraid of dying? Often, it’s the people at the bottom who fear death less, having little to lose. For them, life might be more agonizing than death, hence their indifference toward dying. Though this might e a bit harsh to say.

“Then we should leave the hospital.”

Li Zhong indeed couldn’t afford to stay indefinitely at the hospital. Many of the Li family’s decisions required his approval. Although the Li family could function without him, he was undeniably a crucial component.

Li Qiwen was also set to leave the hospital at the same time. The injuries he sustained from the assault weren’t particularly grave, but he had also been shot. The gunshot wound required significantly more time to heal properly.

“Dad, can we talk about something?” Li Qiwen approached Li Zhong.

“What’s it?”

“My mom has a new bodyguard, right? I think she’s pretty capable, and I’d like her to be my bodyguard.”

This was actually Gu Wanyu acting on Chen Luo’s advice, issuing the instruction to Li Qiwen. She also warned him that if he failed to achieve this, he’d experience the agony inflicted by the Gu worms. This was a threat he couldn’t afford to ignore.

His mother, Gu Wanyu, possessed the antidote for the poison affecting him. Without it, he would have to endure that unbearable pain once more. Moreover, the bell that controlled the Gu worms inside him was also in Gu Wanyu’s hands.

“What exactly do you see in her?” Li Zhong furrowed his brow.

Could Li Qiwen have taken a fancy to that female bodyguard? No, that seemed unlikely. The bodyguard he had arranged for Gu Wanyu was quite average in both looks and build; it was improbable that Li Qiwen found her appealing. If Li Feng had any strengths, they were her loyalty and excellent combat skills.

“I think her abilities are notable. I plan to learn some skills from her, so I can defend myself if faced with kidnappers again,” Li Qiwen offered a compelling reason.

To persuade his father, Li Zhong, Li Qiwen had thought hard and long to come up with this reasonable justification.

“You could learn a few moves from Ye Chen,” Li Zhong glanced toward Ye Chen.

“With him barely able to move, how could he teach me?” Li Qiwen looked disdainfully at Ye Chen.

“Dad, please transfer that bodyguard to me,” Li Qiwen persisted in his request to Li Zhong. He had no other option, if Li Zhong genuinely refused, he would be in real trouble.

“Alright, I agree,” Li Zhong conceded. It wasn’t a significant problem.

Li Qiwen seldom made requests, and Li Zhong acknowledged he had been overly doting on Li Ting while not giving enough attention to Li Qiwen. Thus, he did not refuse this reasonable request.

‘This old geezer finally agreed,’ Li Qiwen inwardly cursed with venom. ‘When will this old thing die? Maybe I should just poison him and get rid of the old man.’

Li Qiwen could be considered the epitome of filial devotion.

His desire to harm Li Zhong stemmed from a wish to gain favor and persuade Chen Luo to remove the Gu worms infesting his body.

Although normally dormant, those Gu worms were a constant threat, akin to carrying a time bomb without knowing when it might detonate. This uncertainty had disrupted his peace, even affecting his sleep, prompting him to consider taking over the Li family’s assets to present to Chen Luo.

He hoped this gesture would compel Chen Luo to spare him by extracting all the Gu worms.

The only casualty in this plan would be his father, Li Zhong. Li Zhong’s consistent doting on Li Ting had long been a source of discontent for Li Qiwen, who had been silently cursing his father’s demise every chance he got. It’s doubtful Li Zhong ever imagined having such a ‘dutiful’ son.

Upon the Li family’s return home, where they had their own private doctor, indeed, treatment at home proved to be significantly safer.
