Chapter 73: Hecate's symbol
Chapter 73: Hecate's symbol
(A/N): There was a mistake with Night's stats but that's fixed, its not much of a difference but I still apologize if that impacted your reading experience. On that note, thank you for sticking around. This chapter's going to have something interesting (^_^)

"If it acts as a means to my end, that is, if it helps me reach my goal, then I shall gladly accept," Nate said with a determined look.
Hecate was slightly surprised when she saw Nate's confident and fearless expression, "If I may....what is this 'goal' you speak of? if its something like gaining enough power to rule the world or acquire its riches then my powers are going to be too much for such a weak goal,"
"No, it definitely isn't for something that materialistic, it's more personal, I want to be able to have enough power so I can fight by my friend's side....that's all," he replied with his head pointed to the painting on the ceiling. For some reason when he thought of Luke(Night) he was reminded of the moon.
"..."
"..."
"Very well, it's an admirable goal and a noble one at that.....show me your hand,"
Nate held out his hand without asking any questions, at this point even if Hecate wanted to harm Nate, he couldn't protect himself, in fact, he was sure she could just kill him with a snap. Once his hand was within her reach, she pricked her hand and golden liquid could be seen dripping, the second it touched Nate his skin started to erode.
"Argh...w-what.....ARGH!" he screamed in pain but he couldn't move, he could feel his body slowly burn away.
"Bear with me, you want to be strong enough to stand beside your friend right? no, fight beside your friend, a few more seconds child," Hecate's voice echoed in his head.
The golden liquid burnt into the back of his hand but it didn't spread, it was forming a shape, a 'strophalos' by now Nate could already hear the notifications but he was in too much pain to even respond, he could his throat slowly giving out from all the wailing.
Finally, after a few minutes, the pain he felt subsided, a warm green light took over his body, slowly ridding him of any pain he felt but the symbol on his hand still remained, in fact, it was more prominent after his body was healed.
It was a circle and enclosed within were 3 equal crescent moons, all facing different directions and their 'backs' connected to the center where a 'chakram' was enclosed within another small circle.
"That is my symbol, the symbol of Hecate, the goddess of Magic and Witchcraft, Congratulations youngin, you've now inherited my powers, all that's left for you to do is grow and get stronger, soon you will be able to inherit all my powers," Hecate said with a smile.
Nate's head was still ringing after enduring the maddening amount of pain, KYOJIN set the pain reciprocation at 10% so that it could feel more realistic and challenging, even with 90% of the pain being nullified, he felt as if he had lost a limb, Hecate's healing did help a lot but he still hadn't come to his sense yet. But he couldn't wait, he wanted to check all the notifications he had received.
