Chapter 163: You were right....
Chapter 163: You were right....
(A/N: Forgive me :/ I missed a day because I was sick and couldn't really write, yes which means that I write each chapter on the day I publish it. I like it because it gives the raw feeling to it, if I ever publish more than one a day then it means I've written all those in a single day:?
Anyway, hope you like the chapter :p
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay whatever, you suck and I'm Loki,"
"Loki as in-"
"No don't even dare to say Loki as in Thor's "mischievous little brother" Loki. You probably think Thor and Odin are some kind of super amazing, evil slaughtering heroes don't you? Tch, forget about that mortal. I would've incinerated you but because you're important I'll let it slide this one time..."
'He really sounds hurt..'
"Anyway, the main reason I summoned you here is because of the quest I had for you. However, before that. I can smell the essence of my daughter from you.....hmmmmm, you're more capable than I thought you were. Actually speaking, you're pretty dangerous and stacked for a mortal, aren't you? I can feel the powers of multiple Divine beings from you....well whatever, this makes my quest to you easier to complete."
"....What do I need to do," Night asked still trying to wrap his head around the fact that Loki can somehow see through him without trying.
"Ah, so you're still concerned about that. I'm the God of deception and illusions and appearances. I'm probably the only one strong enough to truly see what's hidden no matter what. Besides, the other powers are so meager and negligible compared to your darkness? I assume. Whatever, moving on. As you probably know by now, the dungeons under the houses of the Einherjar. Once cleared, you obtain a token that goes by the name, "Token of Valhalla". Naturally, there isn't only one token, clearing every dungeon gives you this as a reward and once you're the owner of all the tokens, you can set me free! Not exactly that straightforward but something like that...." Loki exclaimed as he raised both his hands to the metaphorical sky. "Well what do you say? exciting isn't it?"
"..."
Normally Night would agree and accept the task to help Loki, after all, if a Divine being is the one asking, then it would make sense to simply obey for "adventures' sake", however, the situation wasn't normal by any means. Loki was by no means your usual Divine being, at the same time, he was banished and imprisoned in a space that seemed inaccessible by anyone. Night had no reason to fear Loki, other than the fact that he was able to summon Night which usually isn't something that could be done, even by a Divine Being. Nyx's curse stops beings from playing around with Night, just the fact that Loki managed to succeed in that task proves his competence.
"...What's in it for me?"
"Excuse me?" Loki asked, startled by Night's question. It wasn't everyday beings other than the Divine questioned his actions or words. While to Loki, it seemed slightly ludicrous of Night, he had to understand that Night was helping him escape from his eternity of misery.
"What's in it for me?" Night asked in a more confident tone, the more he thought about it, the more convinced he felt that it wasn't a "must-do" task by any means.
"AH! of course, of course. Don't even worry, I have the perfect reward for you...." Loki said in a slightly pitchy voice. He rotated his hand and the image of a sword materialized. It was beautiful, the design, the color, everything about it, was perfect. "Laevateinn....my sword...."
"....." Night couldn't help but slowly move his hand towards the image, however, the second he did that Loki snapped his finger, and the weapon disappeared.
"However, it's not here right now, it's in a space that only I can access so don't worry..... so what do you say?"
"...Alright, I'll do it. I accept." Night said as he gripped his fist.
"Wonderful! As expected of someone chosen by that old lady! Anyway, I'll send you back now, quite the mess you're in, so good luck and don't let me down mortal!"
"Wait what me-"
*Zszszzapzs*
"-ss?"
He was back at the church. Except for this time, the guards were here and they were rounding up the unconscious followers. Groans of disgust and discomfort were heard as the soldiers looked at the massacre. However, Night's sudden appearance caused a slight panic amongst the new faces. Although it was relatively short, considering the affinity he had with the civilians of Vraun. However, Night was thankful, after all, the soldiers there recognized Noctis and stayed by his side. They were worried something had happened to Night so staying by his side would do some good and help in finding Night.
*Kruuuuuu*
"Okay, okay jeez, I'm sorry buddy, I didn't mean for that to happen," Night replied as he gently caressed Noctis's neck, the soldiers that stayed by his side and kept him busy with food were delighted they did so, after all Night was seen as a hero and nobody want's to not help the hero, "thank you very much for taking care of him...."
"Sir Night! It was our honor!"
"Absolutely Sir! It was our greatest honor to have been able to aid you!"
Night smiled as he looked at the soldiers saluting, "you don't need to be so stiff, it's alright. Oh, by any chance did the Pope drop anything? And if he did, where are the dropped items?"
"Ah! Sir Night...the thing is....we've sent all the items dropped, on a wagon to the Royal Palace. I apologize, Sir! I'll make sure to get the drops back right now!"
"Hmm? no no please get up, that's alright. I'll make my way to the Royal Castle, I was headed there anyway, you did me a favor. Then thank you for everything and good work here!" Night said as he waved them goodbye before running away.
"...So young yet so humble and admirable!"
"Truly! No wonder Grandmaster Noel chose Sir Night as his disciple!"
Night was long gone, his mind was occupied by the thoughts of him actually getting a drop. Though he knew the reason this happened was because of Noctis killing the followers and the Pope.
"Hmm well at least I leveled up two more times, and Noctis leveled up twenty times, sheesh,"
(A/N: I didn't write the notifications twenty times cause....well, that would be too much)
'His stats growth is terrifying! Five stat points per level??? That's madness!' Night thought as he looked up at Noctis peacefully sleeping on his head, Noctis was awfully small when he slept, he was all curled up and could perfectly fit on Night's dark blue mattress.
He felt grateful. Would he have reached where he was without Noctis and the others? Of course, not. He wouldn't even have gotten Noctis or Shade without Nyx's curse. Although it raises the question, just what kind of a being was he? To have an origin greater than any Olympian or greater than any God, of course, the Primordials were excluded from this list, although sharing an origin with the Primordials was something ridiculous.
"Does that make you a Primordial buddy?" Night asked himself as he looked at Noctis cutely snore as he drooled onto Night's head. "That's absolutely disgusting urgh...."
'I wonder what kind of mess Loki was talking about? Should I be worried?'
At the same time, in the outskirts of Vraun, in a deserted land, two men stood at least 30 meters apart, the wind blew slightly which caused the sand to fly around, the earthy smell never felt weaker, the sun shone brightly as if Apollo himself was interested in what was happening. The only sound or movement was the sound of the wind carrying the minute particles.
"You were right. We did meet again." Noel said as he looked at the other man.
