Universal Lords: Building an Immortal Fairyland from Scratch

Chapter 2 - A Golden Finger?

Chapter 2: A Golden Finger?

This is an era of immortals, a grand age of celestial conquest and interspecies contention. Worlds, universes, dimensions, and planes collide and wage war in the boundless void!

Upon arriving in this era, Wu Chi felt immense excitement, though he kept it to himself, silently clenching his fists as he waited.

Finally, the Guide completed the Prayer to the Heavens.

The altar erupted with radiant brilliance, transforming into a cloud of mist infused with ancient Dao rhythm. It lifted Wu Chi, suspending him mid-air!

“The Heavenly Dao shines bright; humanity shall prosper eternally!”

The Guide shouted in a resonant voice.

The next moment, the mist dissolved into strands of Dao rhythm, flowing into Wu Chi’s body.

A soft, dreamlike glow enveloped him.

What’s this…?

Wu Chi’s eyes widened. He felt changes within his body—profound and mysterious—on a level of life itself, touching both his physical form and soul. The sensation was indescribably wondrous.

He didn’t know how much time had passed before he woke.

Descending from mid-air, he stood on the altar.

In his palm lay a glowing white sphere.

The Heart of the Lord!

“A common-quality Heart of the Lord,” the Guide remarked calmly with a slight nod.

Common-quality Hearts of the Lord were the most prevalent and unremarkable, hardly surprising anyone.

Wu Chi’s expression darkened, his mind a chaotic mess.

The outcome was clear…

He wasn’t some heaven’s chosen one, nor the protagonist of a grand destiny with an elderly mentor or magical inheritance. He was simply an ordinary person among the masses!

Years of anticipation culminated in such a harsh reality. Wu Chi’s face turned pale. His arms stiffened, and his fingers clenched tightly.

Seeing Wu Chi’s reaction, the Guide sighed softly and offered words of comfort. “Do not lose heart. History tells us even ordinary Lords have achieved immortality and divinity!”

“The boundless void holds endless possibilities. Perhaps you’ll encounter the relics of immortals or gods and advance unhindered on your path!”

Hearing this, Wu Chi regained his composure and gradually calmed down.

After all, he had lived two lives. Unlike a typical teenager, he didn’t break down or cause a scene.

“Thank you,” Wu Chi said, cupping his hands respectfully. Without wasting words, he took his Heart of the Lord and descended the Sky Ascension Staircase.

On the eighty-first step of the staircase, those queuing watched Wu Chi descend, their gazes varied.

However, no one mocked him.

“Next!”

“Chen Hai!”

Back at home, Wu Chi collapsed onto the sofa, staring at the white Heart of the Lord in his hand, a bitter smile on his lips.

“Of  course. How many protagonists are there, really? My parents are alive, I don’t have any beautiful younger sisters, and I haven’t discovered a cheat ability in sixteen years. Now, even my Prayer to the Heavens yielded just a common-quality Heart of the Lord.”

“Among the vast multitude, I’m just a tiny speck of dust. That’s all I am.”

Closing his eyes, Wu Chi pondered for a moment.

Suddenly, he opened his eyes, his gaze filled with ambition.

But…

“I must rise again!”

“The boundless void, countless worlds, infinite races…”

“This is an era of passion and great competition!”

“I’ve been given a second life. That’s already incredibly lucky. There’s no need to be greedy.”

“Moreover, in this era of universal Lords and limitless potential, if I don’t fight, what’s the point of living?”

“Great power, eternal life, countless beauties, invincible influence, endless wealth!”

“I want it all!”

Wu Chi sat up, his earlier despair swept away.

Without hesitation, he gripped the Heart of the Lord. With a single thought, it burst into radiant light, transforming into streams of energy that flowed into his body.

In the next moment, a virtual information panel appeared in Wu Chi’s mind!

  • [Lord]
  • [Territory]
  • [Descent]

The [Lord] and [Territory] functions of the Heart of the Lord could digitize everything for their owner and control every aspect of their territory through the Heart.

As for [Descent], it served as the gateway to the Boundless Void, the starting point of every Lord’s endless journey!

“I still need to claim my school rewards later. Let’s check my stats first. My territory trait… Hopefully, it’s a good one.”

With a sigh, Wu Chi opened [Territory].

  • [Territory]: Unnamed.
  • Owner: Wu Chi.
  • Level: 1.
  • Area: 200 square meters.
  • Structures: Hut (Level 1), Fence (Level 1).
  • Residents: 0.
  • Territory Trait: [Twice a Virgin].

Before descending into the Boundless Void, all Lords started with identical basic territory stats: 200 square meters and two initial structures.

Wu Chi’s focus was on the Territory Trait.

“Twice a Virgin?! What nonsense is this?”

His face darkened, his expression pained.

[Twice a Virgin]

  • Quality: Common.
  • Attribute: All female residents in the territory gain +10% to all stats.
  • Description: The resentment of a twice-a-virgin created this “unique” trait.

“???”

“What’s wrong with being a virgin? How did that turn into a territory trait?”

Wu Chi felt like coughing up blood.

He had often heard that Territory Traits were bizarre and rarely repeated.

Some were downright absurd.

For instance, one Lord’s territory trait was [Poison in Excrement]. The residents’ feces became highly toxic. That Lord built their fortune by selling poison dung, earning the nickname “The King of Poisonous Feces.”

Compared to such a title, Wu Chi’s Territory Trait seemed almost normal.

“All stats +10%, though… if only it didn’t require female residents.”

Wu Chi wasn’t too disappointed.

With a white-quality Heart of the Lord, expecting an exceptional trait was unrealistic.

Next, he opened [Lord] to examine his personal stats.

  • [Wu Chi]
  • Territory: “Unnamed.”
  • Race: Human.
  • Level: 1.
  • Constitution: 0.9
  • Spirit: 1.5
  • Inventory: Mechanical Kidney.
  • Description: The standard attribute value for a normal adult is 1.

A fairly ordinary panel. The only standout attribute was Spirit, likely enhanced due to his transmigration.

“Wait! There’s something in my inventory?”

“Mechanical Kidney?!”

Wu Chi was stunned.

Every new Lord possessed an inventory.

But it was always empty at the start!

This was a fact Wu Chi had learned from both online research and school lessons.

Why, then, was there an item in his inventory?

Wu Chi’s heart pounded, and a single thought echoed in his mind.

“A cheat ability!”
