Ultimate Village Doctor

Chapter 197 Enrollment at School

Chapter One Hundred and Ninety-Seven

"All done, beauty," said a hairstylist, effeminate in dress and mannerism, holding up an orchid finger.

Chun Tao stood up, astonished as she looked at her reflection in the mirror.

It was an image she had never seen before.

Her black hair, soft and smooth, fell over her shoulders, her starry eyes sparkled, and her fair nose and teeth complemented her perfectly. She wore a beige knit dress that accentuated her curvaceous figure. White stockings and a pair of black leather mid-heels on her feet made her look youthful yet vivacious, the spitting image of a beautiful university student.

Long Xiaoshan watched with satisfaction.

Now, it was nearly impossible to tell that she was a country girl from a poor mountain village.

Even Wang Sihai, standing by, had his eyes slightly brighten.

He had thought that Brother Long, celestial as he was, lacked discernment in women, having chosen a village girl to be his girlfriend.

But now, after a makeover,

he couldn't help but admire.

A Heavenly Being indeed was a Heavenly Being.

Even if he had chosen a village girl, she was a gem covered in dust. With just a little polishing, she radiated an astonishing brilliance. He had been with countless campus beauties, yet Chun Tao was second to none, exuding an innocence that those campus beauties could never possess, that bashful demeanor, which easily stirred the primal instincts of men.

However, in Long Xiaoshan's presence, his fleeting lust was immediately and forcibly suppressed.

He fawned over her, saying, "Sister-in-law, once you arrive at the Business College, there will be a change of reign for the campus belle."

Chun Tao replied with a shy shake of her head.

Long Xiaoshan took Chun Tao's hand and said, "Let's go, we're off to the school now."

They left the salon.

A Passat was already parked outside.

Just as they were about to get into the car, Wang Sihai received another call. His expression turned ugly as he said, "I understand, I have things to deal with at the moment, we'll talk tonight."

Long Xiaoshan noticed that within a short span, Wang Sihai had taken four or five calls. He frowned and said, "Sihai, if you have things to do, go ahead. I'll take Chun Tao to register."

"Brother Long, how can that be okay? I definitely should escort you personally," protested Wang Sihai.

"Enough, it's just a registration. Go ahead, I didn't want to make a big fuss about it anyway," Long Xiaoshan said with a wave of his hand, conclusively.

Wang Sihai could tell that Long Xiaoshan indeed didn't want him to follow.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have asked to change cars earlier.

"Brother Long, alright then, I'll have Ashui take you," Wang Sihai told his trusted bodyguard and driver, "Ashui, accompany Brother Long for the registration. His orders are my orders. If anything goes even slightly wrong, you'll answer to me."

"Boss, rest assured, the task will be completed to the letter," Ashui, a burly young man, promptly responded.

"Brother Long, do you have time tonight? I've prepared a banquet at Jingheng Hotel and would like to invite you to grace the event," Wang Sihai inquired tentatively.

"Give me a call then," replied Long Xiaoshan with a slight nod.

Seeing Long Xiaoshan's accommodating disposition, despite Wang Sihai's runabout attitude, he wasn't one to be unapproachable. Besides, he could tell Wang Sihai seemed to have something he wanted to discuss.

Upon seeing Long Xiaoshan's nod, Wang Sihai was overjoyed.

They parted ways.

Long Xiaoshan and Chun Tao climbed into the Passat, with bodyguard Ashui at the wheel, heading for Hechuan City Business College.

Hechuan City Business College, located in the suburban area of the academic city district.

Nearby were Hechuan City's middle and higher education institutions, forming an academic community.

Hechuan City was an inland Earth Level city with a lagging economy, lacking any key universities.

It only had three bachelor's degree granting universities; the rest were vocational colleges.

The Business College was one of the private bachelor's institutions, officially named Xichuan University Hechuan Business College.

Xichuan University was the top key university in Xichuan Province, ranking among the 985-tier institutions. Even though Hechuan Business College was part of Xichuan University, it seemed impressive, but in reality, it was quite the opposite. Hechuan Business College was a private institution that merely paid to be affiliated with Xichuan University. It charged exorbitant fees, making it a gold-plating institution for the wealthy, with tuition alone cost no less than fifty thousand a year, not to mention sponsorship and various other miscellaneous fees.

At this school, a year's expenses started at a baseline of one hundred thousand.

However, because it was well-funded, the school's faculty was considered one of the best in Hechuan City.

When the Passat drove into Hechuan City Business College.

Inside, Mercedes-Benzes and BMWs zipped by like shuttles.

There were also students who drove sports cars ostentatiously through the premises.

Although most of these were BMW Z4s or Audi TTs in the 500,000 to 600,000 yuan range, the family backgrounds of the students in this school were unmistakably wealthy or noble.

In this school, the Passat truly couldn't be any more modest.

As it passed, no one gave it a second glance.

Ashui respectfully told Long Xiaoshan from the driver's seat, "Mr. Long, I'll first take you to meet the dean, and then we can proceed with the registration."

Long Xiaoshan nodded with a faint smile, "Okay."

The three of them got out of the car.

Entering the office building, Ashui made a phone call and then led the two to the dean's office on the fifth floor.

In the office, they met the dean of the Business College, a man around sixty years old with sharp eyes, who seemed more like a businessman than a university chancellor. He stood up enthusiastically to shake hands with the three.

He assessed Long Xiaoshan and his companions' attire through his glasses.

The dean asked with a smiling face, "Director Wang didn't come?"

"Dean Guu, Director Wang didn't have time," Ashui said.

Although Dean Guu maintained a friendly smile on his face, it was apparent that his enthusiasm had cooled significantly since their arrival.

The very reason he had stayed on campus was to receive Wang Sihai himself, but now, not seeing Wang Sihai and judging by Long Xiaoshan and Chun Tao's attire, he quickly surmised that their relationship with Wang Sihai must be average at best.

Otherwise, with Wang Sihai's wealth, if they were really close, they certainly wouldn't just wear such common clothes and be accompanied only by a bodyguard.

He smiled and said, "Oh, I have a meeting now, so I'll have Teacher Qiao come and take you to register. Teacher Qiao is Xiaoxue's homeroom teacher and one of our school's star teachers—a Ph.D. graduate from Yale University, not easy to come by."

Seeing that Dean Guu was not personally handling their registration, but instead arranging a teacher, Ashui's expression soured slightly.

Brother Long was a person even Director Wang had to treat with due respect.

He was about to speak up.

Long Xiaoshan patted his shoulder and said, "Thank you, Dean Guu, for the trouble."

Ashui, seeing Long Xiaoshan already speak this way, had no choice but to keep his mouth shut.

After all, he was a servant, responsible only for carrying out tasks.

Dean Guu made a phone call and stayed another two minutes before excusing himself for the meeting and leaving the office.

Leaving the three waiting.

What followed was a long wait.

A full twenty minutes passed.

No one had yet come.

There wasn't even a glass of water in the office.

Ashui's forehead was covered with cold sweat; he hadn't expected that handling matters for Director Wang would turn out like this, making someone of Mr. Long's status wait so long. He wasn't a fool and could clearly see Dean Guu's neglect. He stood up angrily and declared, "I'm going to find this Dean Guu right now, damn it."

Watching his enraged demeanor,

Long Xiaoshan grabbed him and asked, "What are you doing?"

"Mr. Long, I'm sorry, this Dean Guu is unscrupulous, making you wait so long. I must give him a piece of my mind," Ashui was a tough character who was used to the rough and tumble underworld, impulsive and quick to anger.

Long Xiaoshan said sternly, "Stand right here and don't make a scene. I brought my girlfriend here to study, it's not appropriate to start a fight with the dean on the first day, is it?"

"But, Mr. Long."

"There are no 'buts.' If you don't want to wait, you can go back to Wang Sihai now," Long Xiaoshan said.

Ashui dared not speak any further.

Another five minutes or so went by.

Click-clack click-clack.

The sound of high heels echoed through the hallway.
