Chapter 1096: Chapter 1096 Mrazivý’s Attackers
Her blade embedded deep into the ghost she had been fighting, Mrazivý swung her arm in a single large arc.
When the spiritual energy imbued into her weapon exploded within her spectral opponent, the powerful knight that had once been Arriba's head general in life was exercised from the world.
"That was more difficult than I thought it would be." Mrazivý sighed as she sheathed her saber.
Feeling competitive, she had taken on two of the Ghost King's strongest courtiers.
This had led to a drawn-out battle that was challenging in several ways.
Not only had the two ghosts been quite powerful, but they spent the entire battle trying to get away from her. Their main goals were to protect their liege and at every opportunity they attempted to disengage from Mrazivý.
She had been forced to chase after them dozens of times and blow them away from where Marcus was fighting Arriba.
Even while she was focused on her own battle, she could sense the intensely powerful attacks that the two of them unleashed every time they clashed. Allowing her opponents to interfere with him and make his fight even more chaotic would have been a major failure on her part.
"It looks like everyone else is already finished or just about to wrap up their own battles. I'm surprised that Marcus already needed to summon Alyna, but it seems that the two of them have things under control."
Mrazivý was carefully observing the rest of the area just in case one of her companions were in need of assistance.
Thankfully no one experienced any difficulties. They had come well prepared and all of them were far stronger than the average individual. Even high-level ghosts were not going to be too much of a threat to any of them.
Still, the true conflict had not begun yet. Through some thorough investigation and some intel from Borealia they had learned about a plot to kill them.
"There is no guarantee that they will show up since we killed all of the spies they had trailing us, but I find it likely that they will. No way they will give up this chance." Mrazivý mussed.
As if lining up with the timing of her thoughts, she felt several dozens of individuals suddenly appear using space magic.
She wanted to ascertain exactly what was going on with each of these rifts in space, but the one closest to her forced her to turn all of her attention towards it.
A moment later a massive ax cleaved the ground where she had been standing just a second ago. Fissures that looked like a spiderweb spread out from the impact zone. It was undoubtedly a powerful attack and one that would have caused Mrazivý serious injury had she allowed it to hit her.
"That is a pretty rude way to greet someone." Mrazivý said admonishingly towards the individuals wielding the giant ax that had just tried to kill her.
Currently standing on top of the hilt of her weapon was a girl who appeared to be only in her early teens. She had long golden hair and piercing dark blue eyes that were nearly black.
Her expression radiated confidence despite her opening strike having missed.
"There is no point in being cordial towards a soon to be dead enemy." The girl responded as she dropped down from her perch, grabbed her giant ax, and wrenched it free from the ground.
Mrazivý almost laughed seeing such a small person wielding such a huge weapon.
The handle alone was around as long as she was tall, and the blade was around three times the size of the girl swinging it around.
Still, this was a testament to her strength, since she could fight with such a thing.
"Now why would I be your enemy? You are Houten's top general, Xiomara, correct?" Mrazivý asked with a questioning look on her face.
However, her expression quickly turned into a knowing grin, and she said, "Or are you here as just Mara, Eminence of the Cult worshiping the Blue Primeval Demon?"
Her words this time managed to shake her adversary.
Mara did not show much emotion when Mrazivý revealed that she knew about her façade as one of Houten's generals, but her true status was another thing.
There should have been no way that Mrazivý knew who she really was. Not unless there was a leak from her organization.
'Did Vaughn set me up?!'
The first thing that came to mind was her fellow Eminence. Vaughn had been the one to originally bring Marcus and his cohorts to the entire organization's attention.
Mara's relationship with him was certainly far from amiable. Some might even say that they were hostile towards each other.
Still, this notion quickly left her mind. As much as they did not get along, Vaughn was just as dedicated to their cause as she was. Even he would not sabotage such an important operation just to get rid of her.
"It seems that I won't be killing you quickly after all. I'll need to thoroughly extract where you obtained your information on me from."
Mara's confident almost playful demeanor was now gone, and she glared at Mrazivý with absolute seriousness.
In a flash she lunged forward and brough her enormous ax down on top of her target.
It was a powerful strike enhanced by several spells and a powerful attack skill called mighty cleave.
Not holding anything back, Mrazivý met Mara's blow with her sword while activating her Draconic Transformation and empowering herself with her Supreme Skill.
When the two attacks met, the air around them rippled and the ground under their feet turned to dust.
For less than a second the two of them pushed back against each other until a winner in their contest of strength was decided.
Mrazivý proved to be the more powerful of the two and with a heavy slash blew Mara back.
She then opened her mouth wide and released the Dragon's Breath she had been preparing.
A blast of freezing energy erupted from her mouth and shot towards Mara at a breakneck speed. It seemed that she would settle things with only one move.
Except, before the Eminence was turned into a living ice sculpture, four figures interceded.
One was a giant of a man decked out in heavy armor and wielding a giant chakram that was shaped like a star instead of its usual circular design.
The other three were demons that had upper bodies that vaguely resembled human women and with lower bodies like those of snakes. Each one had six arms and in each of their hands were dark blue curved daggers that radiated a sinister energy.
These four worked together to disperse Mrazivý's Dragon Breath and protected Mara.
'Level seventy-five, level seventy-one, level sixty-eight, and level sixty-six.'
Starting with the man and working her way down the line of the demons Mrazivý used her Dragon Eyes to appraise each of them.
All of them were fairly strong, though she did not think that any of them could cause her much trouble individually. Still the four of them together along with Mara would make the fight quite a struggle. Mrazivý was not sure if she had much a of chance of beating all of them.
"I am sorry Lady Mara. I know that you wished to fight her alone, but your first clash should have made it obvious to you that she is not an opponent you can beat without resorting to undesirable measures. Please allow us to assist you?" The man whose name was Draegan said as he helped steady his master.
"Very well. Our objective is more important than my pride." Mara responded, her eyes burning with fury as she looked towards Mrazivý.
Her five enemies swiftly positioned themselves around her and prepared to bring her down.
Nevertheless, Mrazivý showed no signs of worry.

"I think it is about time now." She whispered to herself.
Less than a second later, another rift in space opened up not far from her. However, this time it did not bring more enemies but allies that had been waiting on standby.
From out of the portal came a single man riding on a mythic beast.
Like Mrazivý, he had the same blue hair as most members of the Royal Family of Borealia.
Held in his right hand was a long amethros lance that was already charged to the brim with mana.
"Pierce through all, Strom Breaker!"
Not waiting for the people attacking his little sister to regain their bearings after his sudden arrival, James launched his lance like a missile towards Draegan. The man was currently the closest to Mrazivý and therefore the highest priority to be removed.
Thanks to his high level and years of battle experience, Mara's righthand man was able to react to James' attack. He positioned his own weapon to block the incoming lance and activated all manner of skills and magic items to dampen the blow.
Still, despite his best efforts, Draegan was unable to fully block the strike and was impaled and blasted away.
The three demons accompanying Mara responded to James' assault almost immediately and rushed to suppress him.
Though before they could get close, Fallon who James was currently mounted on let loose a jet of fire from her mouth and pushed the demons back.
"Thanks for the assistance. Your as reliable as ever." Mrazivý said, approaching James and standing next to him and Fallon.
With the arrival of her brother and Fallon, the overwhelming odds against her had been turned around in an instant. They were still outnumbered but far from outmatched.
