Chapter 74 074: Competition
The west wing was pretty much a repeat of what Cole had to face in the east. This time however he had avoided making use of [Wrath Drive]. He didn't think it was possible, but he was absolutely terrified of his own skill, he would rather not want to even be in a position where he has to use it again.
But after understanding the pattern of their attacks, Cole had sort of had fun, especially when he completely relied on the [Black Demon Swordsmanship] passive skill, getting a more in depth understanding into it as he realized that it was made for combat with not just a blade or sword, but also for the guns or any other small weapon he had in hand.
It was quick martial art that relied on other weapons to augment the defense and quick strike attacks of his sword. If plus the other weapons didn't just serve as augments or a defensive measure as Cole had actually used the body of his revolvers many times to deflect the beams coming from the eyeballs. They also served as a distraction.
Cole jumped to the left, going underneath a beam attack as he shot a bullet point blank underneath an Eldritch Eyeball that had flown to far above him. He ignored it's weird cry and used black Malakai to intercept a beam attack, cutting out of the air as he [shadow Dance] behind the sentinel that would be the boss of rather the elite monster for the west wing.
He didn't know why, but the sentinel did not attack him while he was dealing with the Sentries. Instead it would attack him if he attacked it or got a little bit closer to it's location. This display further made Cole realized that perhaps it wasn't that he was fighting many opponents, but one opponent with too many bodies. So perhaps he should be expecting a different reaction or a different turn of events to the fight if he took it out first.
[Double Tap] [Obsidian Shot] [Black Cut]
Some would say this was overkill, but Cole had faced the first Sentinel and it had taken one very powerful hit and one very overpowered ability to bring it down. He had no intention of holding back and put everything into the attack.
Cole watched impassively as the sentinel died…. And discovered that perhaps he had to check out his theory once again as the sentries kept on attack. He cursed out softly as he dodged another beam attack, and took out another.
He danced in between their floating forms, utilizing the defensive and evasive quick strike moves of the [Black Demon Swordsmanship]. It didn't take him up to a minute to completely clear the west wing. He shook his neck from left to right then left it, coming out and looking over the balcony at the people still waiting below.
"Both wings, and the study is clear, I haven't been outside the house yet, but my next target should be the dinning room…. Wait! Where's the Sylvain and that orc?" Cole asked, turning to Titus as everyone else here seemed to be a bit scared of him.
"They too have accepted the bounty and have gone into the Dining hall in an attempt to finish it. Do note that should they kill the boss of the Eldritch creatures before you, they would be considered to have completed the bounty, and will be paid rather than you." Titus said, with a rather annoying grin on his face.
"Is that so? And did you have anything to do with deciding that they now had enough balls to complete the bounty, or was this always your plan or Titus? Get somebody to do the heavy lifting and then you can reap the spoils?" Cole asked as he leaned over the balcony watching Titus with a rather calm expression.
"I would never do such a thing, I am a rather honest goblin…. It's not my fault that they decided that they would now have a better chance at handling the boss." Cole picked something up from that as he asked.
"So the boss is in the dining hall…. So what was in the attic then?" the Goblin snapped his mouth shut, knowing he had said too much. Cole chuckled.
"I take it there is nothing there, and the fact that the entrance is outside the house and through your study means it would take me out of the way, long enough for your chosen champions to slay the boss and either get what you have hidden in that dining room to yourself, or hide the secrets of how your orchard became so fucked up, and while for all that is holy you are the only one left that is still alive….where are your workers?" Cole asked, but the Goblin refused to say anything as a loud ding rang in his ear as a notification popped up in front of him.
Cole just took a quick look at it, then jumped down from the balcony, Landing with way more ease than anybody expected from him. Titus Boris took a couple of steps backwards, his hooked nose wiggling a bit as Cole chuckled, his voice coming out hollow from his mask.
"Don't worry, Mr. Titus… I'm not going to kill you…. You still have to pay for all this bounties that you had me accept once I complete them. Now if you would excuse me, I have a bounty to go Complete." Cole said as he walked away, heading towards the massive double doors underneath the staircase that led to the dining hall.
He hadn't noticed it before, but as he drew closer he started heating sounds of combat on the other side of the door, and wild screeched of pain from some creature. But it was also accompanied by yells from the people within trying to fight whatever horror the Goblin had left trapped in there. Either way, Cole was going no where without backup.
"Morgan! Come along man, let's go hunting.
