Ouyang Huihui felt very depressed as she returned to her dormitory. It was then she finally remembered to call her sister.
The call was quickly connected, and Ouyang Feifei’s not-so-friendly voice came through from the other end, “Huihui, what’s up?”
“Sister,” Ouyang Huihui spoke in a wronged tone, “I just came back from home today and ran into Luo Ziling and his roommates going out for a late-night snack at the door. They insisted, so I joined them. Then, another person came, and it really pissed me off. Guess who it was!”
“Who?” Ouyang Feifei had already guessed who it was but didn’t say it outright.
“Yang Qingyin!” Ouyang Huihui said between her teeth, “She actually came for the late-night snack too. She seemed very familiar with Luo Ziling’s roommate; they treated her with much respect. Sister, it looks like the Yang Family’s objections haven’t made them cautious. If you have any ideas, you can’t just let things slide; otherwise, it will get complicated.”
Upon hearing this, Ouyang Feifei’s heart immediately fluctuated.
“Sister, how can you be so indifferent!” Not hearing a response from Ouyang Feifei, Ouyang Huihui couldn’t help but get anxious, “You must outdo Yang Qingyin in every way, she’s got nothing on you. You are superior in every aspect and absolutely cannot lose to her. Sister, you need to act fast, snatch up Luo Ziling first, and then it will be the real showdown with Yang Qingyin. Sister, I strongly support you in taking Luo Ziling away. As for revenge, that’s something for later. You can’t just be contemplating revenge while she takes everything away from you.”
“I got it,” Ouyang Feifei replied emotionlessly, and then hung up the phone.
When Ouyang Huihui called, Ouyang Feifei had just finished socializing and was on her way back to her place.
She had attended a high-end business cocktail party and reached a few partnership intentions. Ouyang Feifei was in quite a good mood, but after taking Ouyang Huihui’s call, her mood worsened considerably.
On the way back, she gazed at the street scenes outside, pondering over something unknowingly.
It began to rain, and Ouyang Feifei’s heart felt as forlorn as the rain curtain outside.
For all these years, she had never felt this feeling, and even she was surprised by the sudden onset of this distress.
“Could it be that I’ve actually fallen for him?” As soon as this question came to mind, Ouyang Feifei immediately denied it.
Although Luo Ziling was handsome and came from a decent family, he hadn’t shown any outstanding performance.
Furthermore, he was young and two years her junior. If she were to judge based on her own mate-selection standards, she wouldn’t consider such a younger guy.
Yet, why did she feel upset upon hearing about Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin?
It must be the fear of failure.
She quickly decided to continue making changes. Otherwise, her reputation and confidence would all be lost over Luo Ziling.
Of course, Luo Ziling didn’t know that Ouyang Huihui would report this matter to Ouyang Feifei over the phone.
After parting ways with Yang Qingyin, he dashed back to the dormitory in the rain.
By the time he returned to the dormitory, his clothes were drenched, giving him a bedraggled appearance.
When he got back, the other three guys were heatedly discussing something. Seeing him return, they immediately stopped talking and looked at him curiously.
“Boss, why are you back so soon?” Cao Jianhui hurried over, “Hehe, a walk in the rain is quite romantic, isn’t it?”
Luo Ziling ignored him and went straight into the bathroom to wash his face and dry his hair. He then hung his wet clothes on the rack.
“Don’t ask me anything,” he said as he walked back to his room, seeing the three guys looking at him gossip-hungry. Luo Ziling threatened irritably, “If anyone dares to wag their tongue, I’ll beat them up.”
When he said this, Luo Ziling was a bit annoyed and embarrassed.
The three guys, who had originally planned to probe for more details, just had to shut up.
However, as everyone lay down to sleep, Cao Jianhui still murmured, “Boss, Yang Qingyin is indeed more outstanding than Ouyang Huihui, at least in terms of temperament. But her figure seems not to be as good as Ouyang Huihui’s. Hehe, I’m just babbling, don’t mind me.”
Luo Ziling ignored them, and Cao Jianhui, feeling a bit bored, didn’t say anything else.
The next day was still a rest day, the last day of the National Day holiday.
Cao Jianhui, Li Fuming, and Wu Longjiang all slept in, but Luo Ziling got up pretty early as usual.
After going out for some exercise, he came back, took a shower, and by the time it was already half-past seven, he went out to wait for Lin Lan.
It was raining outside. Luo Ziling had gotten wet again while exercising in the morning.
Yet, he still didn’t carry an umbrella, instead, seeking shelter under corridors and other spots where he could avoid the rain.
Unexpectedly, Lin Lan arrived about ten minutes early, and when she pulled over, Luo Ziling was having breakfast.
Lin Lan didn’t greet him and simply sat down next to Luo Ziling.
Luo Ziling then ordered three more baskets of steamed buns and a bowl of wonton soup.
Lin Lan helped herself without ceremony.
“I’m picking you up this morning, but I won’t be free to take you back in the afternoon. After the event, you’ll have to take the subway back by yourself,” Lin Lan said in a low voice.
“You’re leaving in the afternoon?” Luo Ziling asked curiously.
Lin Lan didn’t answer.
So, Luo Ziling didn’t ask any further, and they both finished their breakfast in silence.
Once they were in the car, Lin Lan finally initiated a conversation, “For the upcoming treatments, someone else will pick you up and will contact you directly. If… I can’t come back, there will still be someone to pick you up. Someone will also teach you shooting and combat skills.”
Lin Lan’s words made Luo Ziling’s heart skip a beat.
“Are you going on a very dangerous mission?” he asked naturally, his face full of concern.
Lin Lan didn’t answer, focusing on driving. However, under Luo Ziling’s gaze, she finally turned her head and shook her head at Luo Ziling, “Don’t ask!”
Luo Ziling sighed and didn’t press on.
As they were nearing the Dragon Rise base, Luo Ziling suddenly shouted, “Stop the car!”
Startled, Lin Lan slammed on the brakes.
The car slid for several dozen meters before jolting to a stop.
Lin Lan looked at Luo Ziling with a puzzled face, not understanding why he would yell to stop the car at such a time.
In Lin Lan’s astonishment, Luo Ziling reached out and quickly gave her a hug, softly saying before she could react, “Be careful with everything and make sure to come back alive.”
Having said that, he immediately let go of Lin Lan.
Lin Lan was once again taken aback, a never-before-felt emotion welling up in her heart, and her eyes even felt a warm sensation.
Still, she didn’t say a word, just pressed the gas pedal again and the car continued moving forward.
