Chapter 22 Dealt With The Bugs
'Welcome back, darling,' Roy's mouth curved up into a cold smirk after hearing the sound of Duke's engine.
"Brother!" Cassie had heard that Chris had bought a new bike and hearing the noise of one, she quickly shouted and ran towards the doors.
"He is coming here, why hurry?" Sarah smiled and caught Cassie's shirt, prohibiting her from running.
"Cass?" Chris took out his bike keys and ran the flight of stairs in a hurry, quickly arriving on the second floor in front of his former apartment.
"Brother..." Cassie's teary eyes teared upon seeing him and she threw herself at Chris while sobbing.
"Shhh, it's ok," Chris gently soothed Cassie and glared at Sarah, "What is the meaning of this?"
"That's what I want to ask, Chris. What is the meaning of this? Why is my whole house in so bad condition?!" Sarah shouted.
"You should know it, no? It was your fault for looting my house so savagely, you should have just looted it peacefully if you had such problems." Chris shrugged his shoulders.
"You are accusing us of theft, Chris?" Roy tilted his head and asked, "What's the proof?"
"Brother! They were wearing the stuff that was stolen! He was wearing your..." Cassie swallowed the rest of her words after seeing that the man she caught earlier was no longer wearing Chris's jacket!
"He! He was wearing your new jacket! Ms. Sarah was wearing sister's bracelet!" Cassie shouted, trying to help Chris in finding the proof.
"Hey, kid. Don't think you can run your big mouth just because you are a kid, got it?" the man she was accusing glared at her and spoke in a heavy tone.
"True, I don't have any proof." Chris shrugged, interjecting between Cassie and that man.
Hearing Chris's words, Sarah and others' faces brightened and they smirked in victory, too bad that Chris wasn't done yet.
"I don't have proof, but, Cassie's laptop has GPS, how about we catch the thief? Ms. Sarah will be kind enough to help me with that, right?" Chris spoke in an innocent tone.
"W-What?" with that, Sarah was caught completely off-guard and her eyes widened.
"What happened? At least Mr. Roy will help, right? What about Mr. Smith?" Chris continued speaking in his innocent tone, contrasting with the amount of sarcasm he was leaking.
"What game are you playing at Chr-" Sarah's shaky voice was cut off by Chris's excited voice.
"I FOUND IT! It's in this building!" Chris clapped his hands and showed his mobile screen where a small laptop sign kept blinking at their current location!
"So earlier your sister was accusing us and now you are?! Cut the bullshit!" Sarah demanded, even though the proof was right in front of her eyes.
"Fair enough, I think accusing you guys is wrong. I think I should just let the police handle the case, this is no place for a teen like me, right?" Chris nodded with a sigh and opened his phone call app.
"Ohh wait! I just remembered!" Sarah suddenly shouted, "I borrowed your laptop for a little while! I totally forgot about it, haha haha." She laughed nervously while cooking up an excuse.
"Hmm, what about the rest items?" Chris tilted his head.
"I have no idea about them, you are accusing me of theft again?! I told you I just borrowed, didn't?"
"Miss, I don't think you know the definition of the word 'borrowing', I guess a slut like you received a bit less education, but, it's okay! The police will explain its meaning to you later."
"Stay within your limits, kid!"
"Limits? I don't think there are any more, are there, Sarah?"
Anger welled inside Sarah's body hearing Chris openly challenging her and even calling her by her name!
"Enough with this. Chris needs to pay the fine for soiling Sarah's property and Sarah needs to pay the fine for using Chris's laptop without permission," Roy interjected calmly.
"Ohh! And you people will pay for mine and Cassie's mental torture and damage aswell, right?"
"Mental damage, nice joke kid. Just pay the fine and get going." Roy scoffed.
"I am not joking though, your cold harsh words have taken quite a toll on my poor sis, you need to pay at least 1-2K for its treatment."
"Hah, sure, just you need to pay up your bike and all your money to pay for the fine for soiling Sarah's house."
"Okay, now I definitely feel that the mental condition of people here is kinda cracked."
"No, everyone is sane, Chris. Pay up." Roy smiled.
"Enough with the jokes, it's annoying now." Chris dropped his innocent act and said coldly, "I don't really care about any stuff you stole since I am shifting out of this house. So, just return my new clothes and Cass's laptop, and keep the rest as a present."
"Sorry, you are not allowed to leave the house till you pay the fine."
"Alright, I am not going anywhere. Just remember that I had given you a choice." Chris shrugged and moved toward the couch.
He sat near Sarah with no hesitation and fear apparent on his handsome face.
"You bastard, don't you dare act so cocky in front of me!" Sarah shouted seeing Chris acting as if nothing happened, a slight sense of doubt generated in her body.
Roy and the others were angry too, but before they can do anything, a loud shrill siren blared in their silent gloomy streets.
*Beep O Beep O*
Hearing the sound of the siren, everyone's eyes widened in shock, everyone except for Chris... "I told you I have given you a better choice." Chris shrugged, uncaring for their shock.
Even Cassie was caught off guard as she didn't expect Chris to call the police! Chris smiled and patted her cute head, not elaborating on the topic.
"Who is Christopher?" the police inspector came in front of the ransacked room and asked, making the audience flinch in a cold sweat, everyone except for Chris.
"It's me, officer. My house was robbed in my absence and I have proof that the theft is done by these people." Chris got up from the couch and answered while giving a cold smirk to Sarah.
"What proof?" inspector ran his cold eyes across all the audience and asked Chris.
"My laptop that was stolen is in Sarah's house." Chris smiled coldly.
"That is sufficient proof for a house check, any objections?" inspector nodded and asked Sarah and the others.
"S-Sir, I already told him that I had just borrowed it for some time, I think our poor Chris is just confused. There is no need for police investigation." Sarah requested coquettishly.
"Did you ask them before 'borrowing' it?" the inspector asked flatly, not falling for the slut's cheap seduction.
"N-No, but, I doubt there is any need for such formality between my dear Chris and me, right Chris?" Sarah asked nervously.
"Wrong. Inspector, please proceed with the investigation." Chris scoffed at the cheating slut and requested the officer.
...
In the end, Sarah and others who were involved in the theft were sued for stealing and had to pay heavy fines...
