Chapter 47: Little Money-Grubber (1)

Xi Yun goes to Luo Cheng Primary School, a public elementary school. The uniform was still the style from five years ago. Not only was it ugly, oversized, and stuffy, the material was poor quality. Since the first time Xi Yun saw Wei Jianjun’s uniform last semester, he realized that this could be a new money-making venture.

Xi Yun began sending letters to the principal. He encouraged his classmates to also send letters to the principal, talking about how the uniform was too hot, the quality was poor, it always tore at the seams, and the design was unreasonably ugly. The girls couldn’t run in the uniform because it was too short and the boys couldn’t run in the uniform because it was too big and too loose, causing them to constantly trip.

After writing to the principal for a long time, the principal was finally moved and agreed to change their uniforms.

After all, students need to get new uniforms with new styles each year and the principal still had the power to make it happen.

Now, it was only a matter of how to get Wei Jianjun’s uniform chosen as the school uniform.

After investigating, Xi Yun found that Teacher Li was in charge of all the school’s logistics and that his relative was the producer of the school’s uniforms. Because there wasn’t any competition, the uniform continued to be both poor quality and expensive, even though the parents and students had all been dissatisfied for a long time.

For all of summer break, Xi Yun went to hang out around Teacher Li’s house whenever he had free time. While he and his classmates were around the neighborhood, they would take the chance to walk around.

What do you mean Teacher Li got a great deal, when the uniforms he procured were so trash? How could his relatives take advantage of Teacher Li on one hand, and trash-talk him on the other hand? All sorts of similar rumors were spread around.

The rumors were unfounded, but they were invisible killers anyway. Not only that, Teacher Li wasn’t innocent anyway, and those terribly made uniforms were proof.

So, the school decided to recruit external garment factories to make the uniforms and asked the students to vote for their favorite styles.

Wei Jianjun’s opportunity had finally come.

Wei Jianjun’s uniforms were well-made, the material was good quality, and the design was stylish. When the students wore them, they would look very lively. Xi Yun even asked him to add Luo Cheng Primary School’s eye-catching logo.

Although Wei Jianjun’s products were good, it didn’t mean his uniforms will be selected. Not only is he new to Luo Cheng, the students are easily controlled by the teachers. If the teachers found out he wasn’t from the area, they’d likely urge the students to pick a local manufacturer, who’s more connected to the area.

He had no idea where Xi Yun’s confidence was coming from.

On the first day of the new school semester, classes began with reviewing the first lessons, assigning seats, and electing the class president and officers. After this was all done, the teachers passed around a stack of papers, asking the students to choose from the various designs.

Some of the teachers let the students choose for themselves, feeling it was inappropriate to influence their decisions. Other teachers received benefits from local manufacturers, so they urged their students to only choose from ‘A’ and ‘B,’ ignoring ‘C’, Wei Jianjun’s foreign company.

After the students received the ballots, they all looked at each other, chuckled, and bowed their heads as they selected ‘C’.

Some students who chose ‘C’ were discovered by the teacher and were forced to change their vote to either ‘A’ or ‘B’. However, more often than not, students were able to pick ‘C’ without punishment.

When school ended, students from every class began to gather around Xi Yun as soon as he left the classroom and began to talk about the uniforms.
