Chapter 376 - Almina Versus Maena
Almina's Ice Umbrella caught Maena's Arrow Rain attack. The Ice Umbrella shattered at the same time when the arrows from the rain of arrows exhausted.
At that moment, Almina suddenly felt a bad premonition. She immediately jumped out of the Ice Wall. After she did that, an arrow penetrated the hard Ice Wall. Almina was shocked. She believed that it was Arrowbite. One of Maena's skills.
It has a high penetrative force so it can do that feat to penetrate the thick Ice Wall. Maybe if she hadn't jumped out of the Ice Wall right on time, she would have been hit by then. So her jump was just right.
Almina was impressed with Maena's superb setup. Even Almina could not have avoided that kind of attack if by chance she did not jump.
Almina was surprised again when she came out of the Ice Wall, she was greeted by the icy surface of the stage.
"What?" Almina just asked herself out of shock. Maena seems to know that was what she was going to do, or maybe because that was all she could do.
'She's good,' Yman, who was watching their match, couldn't help but said his compliment. Yman was very impressed. Maena seems to have calculated her action so well. She was well-prepared in this match.
Because of what Maena showed in the fight, it seems that what Keremi told him was right.
Although Almina was surprised, there was a smile on her face. While in the air, Almina's feet glowed. In the next second, from under her feet, an Ice Snowboard had materialized. Almina skied fast towards Maena. Looking at it, Maena frowned. Yet, she hastily collected herself. She aimed her bow and shot Almina.
Twang! Twang! Twang!
Another three arrows pierced through the air and flew straight to Almina, but Almina easily evaded them by waving her body left and right. The arrows flew past a few inches away from her.
Maena did not stop attacking. She fired several arrows again. Sometimes Almina avoids them and other times she uses her weapons to defend herself.
At the speed of Almina's dash, she immediately landed in front of Maena. She immediately attacked her by striking her with her weapon. Maena quickly jumped backward. Her evasion was successful because she avoided Almina's attack.
The two exchanged a couple of quick attacks. Maena tried to distance herself, but Almina did not let her. The spectators stood up and cheered cheerfully because of the intensity of the action of their fight.
While watching the fight between the two, Yman remembered what happened on the cliff. It was these two who saved him that day. A smile appeared on his face.
As Yman was watching the match, he suddenly heard a whisper from his deity.
<Partner, look at this.>
After saying this, a holographic screen appeared in Yman's vision. The holographic screen was divided into 4 panels. Each panel displayed a different scene. They were the views that his Scout Enhanced Firedolls shared with him.
In each panel, he could even monitor each of the scout's remaining energy that was displayed in each panel. Those energies are their lifeline.
Since they weren't directly connected to him, they could remain active even without him supplying them with mana as long as the mana in their bodies wasn't emptied.
Nonetheless, they were the Scout Firedolls tasked to monitor Rea's safety. Each of them viewed a different angle. And Rea was in each of those views.
Even without the help of the panels, Yman would still be able to see whatever his scouts see because each one has been modified to have a direct link to his eyes. All he had to do was intense concentration. The only downside was that he could only see one by one. He couldn't check them at once. Other than that, he had to focus his full attention on the Scout Enhanced Firedolls he had chosen to preview.
It wasn't the same in the holographic monitor, in which all the visions of his Scout Enhanced Firedolls were arranged in panels. He could easily monitor them.
Nonetheless, there was another reason why Sistela showed the panels. Although on each panel Rea could be seen with Yana, Chloe, and Bob, Yman noticed something strange in each of those panels.
Suspicious people wearing black clothing could be seen on each panel displayed on the holographic monitor. It was also possible that they are just travelers. But Yman had a bad feeling about it. "For now, let's just monitor them."
<Are you sure?>
"Well, we can't go there directly and confront them without enough proof."
<Oh, you have a point. Okay then.>
At this time, in a dark alley, not far from where the competition was taking place, four people wearing long black robes were currently conversing through whispers. Even their faces are hidden in the black hood.
Moments later there was a sudden sound.
Bzzzzzt!
"What's that?" A question whispered from the person with the spade logo on the person's hood. The sound seemed to come from the vibration of the object inside the pocket of one of these people.
"Wait, it's mine," replied the person with the Diamond logo on the person's hood. Based on the person's voice, it seemed like the person behind the robe was a man, the same as the person with a spade logo. He reached into his pocket after saying that.
An MTMD was taken out of his pocket. He turned on the display and he immediately noticed that there was a new message received. Looks like he was right. That vibration just now came from his MTMD.
"Hey, Spike, what's up?" Questioned the man with the clover logo on his hood. He was looking at the person with the Diamond logo. Based on his voice, he was a male also.
The man called Spike did not answer. However, he smiled broadly and reached both ears. "Hehe…" his comrades looked at him and their eyes narrowed. They feel that Spike has something more to say. Based on his smile, it looks like this was what they had been waiting for.
"I have received the signal. We can now start the fun. Hehe!" Spike said with great delight.
Suddenly, their eyes that were peeking out from under their hoods gleamed when they heard what Spike said.
"Okay!"
A shout of the man with the clover logo.
Spike looked at his companions. "You know what you're going to do?" He asked.
"Of course," said the man with the Spade logo.
"I don't have a problem," replied the person with the heart logo. It seemed like she was the only female in this group, based on her voice.
The person with the clover logo also replied. "Tsk. What do you think? Of course, that's for sure. "
Spike smiled again. His eyes became serious. "Then start now!" After saying this, one by one his companions disappeared.
When his comrades left, Spike immediately pressed his MTMD. After he did that, his figure slowly merged into the darkness.
"Now… let the real fun begin…" he whispered with a sinister smile.
On stage, Almina and Maena continued their fight. The health points seen on the floating monitor were 70 percent for Almina and 71 percent for Maena.
It seems that in the current course of the match, their match was just equal. But still, everyone felt that they still had more to show. It looked like the two were just warming up. None of them had used advanced resonance yet, so it's really obvious that they still had hidden aces up under their sleeves.
Even though they had not yet used their true strength, their exchange of attacks was already very intense. The two were full of surprises. Their fight was very entertaining to watch because of the unique techniques that they had only shown in their fight. There was no doubt that the two did not want to lose.
People were excited about the fight. They shouted the name of the two, especially those who know them at the academy.
Rei-Rei and Sonya just let out a sigh as they watched Almina and Maena's match from the monitor inside the medical center where they were taken for treatment. Well, their injuries weren't worse. Even cheap elixirs could cure them, but not their accumulated fatigue. So they still need to rest somehow.
"Hmm… they seem to have a complete grasp of each other's abilities," Rei-Rei suddenly whispered. The bed next to her, Sonya was lying.
Sonya heard what Rei-Rei said. She took a deep breath and released it at once out of her mouth. "I feel frustrated," she said in a tone that sounded disappointed.
Rei-Rei side-glanced at her. "Why?" She asked, then continued saying, "I was also defeated by Almina."
"Because I feel like Maena didn't use all her abilities when we fought," Sonya replied like a child.
Rei-Rei made a thinking gesture. "Hm, I don't think that's the reason. I saw your fight so I know that she had a hard time fighting against you."
Sonya seemed surprised as she glanced at Rei-Rei in a hurry. "Eh? How can you tell, Miss Rei?"
"Don't compare the fight between you and the blonde and the fight between her and Almina. Of course, your style is different and Almina's style is different too. It's not a wonder that the blonde's fighting style changes depending on who her opponent is. Honestly, I don't think this is the first time those two have fought. Look at them. You can tell, right? That they seem to have a full grasp of each other's movements," Rei-Rei explained. Honestly, she was also frustrated with her defeat against Almina. But well, that's part of the game. She just needed to train harder and come back strong next time.
"Hm….. I see.. You're right, Miss Rei."
