Chapter 153: Six Wives Suddenly Fainted
Chapter 153
The dinner tonight would certainly be very sumptuous. The clerks saw that the Mohists had finished cooking and Peng Wang brought them to eat without being invited.
After enjoying the delicious food, the women simply couldn't bear to rest. They set up a fire and continued making dolls by the light.
Practice makes perfect. When they successfully made qualified products, making the next one became easy.
When He Zhiran got up early in the morning, her sisters-in-law pulled her over to look at the dolls they made last night.
After an inspection, He Zhiran sincerely admired the craftsmanship of these ancients.
They were much better than the original version made by her girlfriends in her space, and could be said to have no flaws at all.
Eldest Sister-in-law and Sixth Sister-in-law each made three, and the other sisters-in-law and Mo Han Yue each made two dolls. Adding the one made by Old Lady Mo, the Mohists made 21 yesterday.
There were also twenty each from the Fang family and the Xie family.
He Zhiran felt that the number of dolls was worth her delivering. So after breakfast, accompanied by Mo Jiuye, she brought these finished long-eared rabbit dolls to the embroidery shop.
From afar, she saw the door of the embroidery shop surrounded by people.
He Zhiran and Mo Jiuye didn't know what had happened. They walked over quickly, intending to take a look.
They saw that Miss Li, who had spent twenty taels yesterday to buy the long-eared rabbit, had brought more than a dozen people to wait outside the door.
"Boss, when will you have dolls like this for sale? We've been waiting since early morning."
The boss stood at the door, rather helpless, "I'm not sure about this now. It depends on when they come to deliver the goods."
After watching for a while, He Zhiran walked over with the sixty-one finished long-eared rabbit dolls, accompanied by Mo Jiuye.
Seeing He Zhiran, the boss immediately became all smiles.
"Little lady, you finally came. Look at these young ladies waiting at my door, they all came for the dolls."
Miss Li also saw He Zhiran.
"Hurry, the dolls have arrived!"
The ladies followed her like a swarm of bees into the embroidery shop.
Mo Jiuye put a bag of long-eared rabbit dolls directly on the counter.
He Zhiran walked forward, "Boss, I brought 61 dolls today."
After checking the goods, the boss was very satisfied with this batch of dolls. He took He Zhiran inside to settle the silver.
Sixty-one taels of silver looked quite a lot, unlike banknotes. With outsiders present, she couldn't put them directly into her space, so she temporarily let Mo Jiuye keep them.
As she and the boss came to the counter, the customers who were waiting to buy the dolls had already surrounded it closely.
Seeing the boss come out, Miss Li walked up and said:
"Boss, I was willing to spend twenty taels to buy a doll yesterday because I liked it too much. In fact, the doll is not worth that much at all. Don't raise the price just because you see more customers today!"
Hearing this, the boss' face suddenly stiffened.
She had just seen so many customers brought by Miss Li, and had considered this issue.
These customers were all young ladies from wealthy families. Since Miss Li was willing to spend twenty taels to buy a doll, the others should be able to as well.
Moreover, this kind of doll was currently exclusive to her shop, and looked so cute. It must sell well.
Even if it couldn't sell for twenty taels, ten taels should be no problem.
Who knew Miss Li would undermine her like this as soon as she opened her mouth?
"Miss Li, don't say that. You spent twenty taels to buy the doll. If I sell it to others for two taels, wouldn't that upset you?" said the boss.
Miss Li didn't listen to her excuses at all.
"I wouldn't feel upset at all. Two taels each would be just right."
Immediately, several of her lady friends chimed in to help.
"Boss, if not for these special dolls, two taels would not be worth it. If you don't sell at this price, none of us will buy."
Hearing the news, other people who had come to watch the fun also joined in yelling.
"That's right, two taels is already expensive."
The boss suddenly felt a big headache. She looked at He Zhiran instinctively.
He Zhiran just smiled to indicate she wouldn’t get involved.
Customers were not stupid. What Miss Li said made sense. There were two reasons why she was willing to pay twenty taels yesterday for the long-eared rabbit doll. First, this kind of doll was appearing for the first time, and she might have worried about not encountering it again in the future.
More importantly, she had money to spare.
Although the ladies who had come with Miss Li today looked like they were from wealthy families too, twenty taels was still not a small sum at this time.
Truly few would be willing to spend twenty taels to buy a doll.
She didn't expect the boss to be so greedy. For a business where she earned half the profit, she still wasn't willing to sell.
Fortunately she wouldn't stay here long-term. Otherwise she would definitely consider changing business partners.
Seeing that He Zhiran wasn't speaking for her, the boss also realized she probably couldn't sell the dolls for high prices.
So she smiled awkwardly.
"Ladies, I did spend a lot to make these dolls. What do you think, sell at five taels each? Five taels a doll?"
"Two taels, will you sell or not? If not we're leaving." Miss Li spoke and prepared to leave with everyone.
Panicked, the boss quickly rushed up to stop them.
"Three taels, three taels each, can't go lower."
Miss Li stopped and exchanged glances with the ladies before turning around again.
"Fine, three taels each, and no more price increases."
"No more increases, I promise." said the boss as she led them to the counter to select dolls.
After watching for a while, He Zhiran felt there was no point to keep watching. She pulled Mo Jiuye to leave together.
Just as they entered the small path leading back to the campsite, they ran right into the rather anxious Mo Chuhan.
Mo Chuhan hurried up to them.
"Younger brother, younger sister-in-law, you're finally back."
Mo Jiuye raised his brows, "Eighth elder brother, what happened?"
"Just now Sixth Sister-in-Law suddenly fainted. Mother said she was burning hot all over."
Upon hearing this Mo Jiuye handed all the food he was carrying to Mo Chuhan, then pulled He Zhiran to run towards the campsite.
Returning to the campsite, she saw a tent surrounded by people.
Pushing her way through the crowd, she walked in.
Eldest Sister-in-Law and Second Sister-in-Law were using handkerchiefs to wipe Sixth Sister-in-law’s forehead.
Seeing He Zhiran back, Eldest Sister-In-Law immediately got up and gave her seat to her.
"Ninth younger sister-in-law, you're back just in time. Quickly take a look, why did Sixth sister-in-law suddenly faint?"
He Zhiran walked up and first felt Sixth Sister-in-Law's forehead. Sure enough it was very hot.
By now, Sixth Sister-In-Law had regained some consciousness, her voice weak.
"I'm fine, just caught a chill."
Without confirming what exactly happened to Sixth Sister-In-Law, He Zhiran would not be careless.
She took Sixth Sister-In-Law's pulse. Graudally, her frown grew deeper.
It was true Sixth Sister-In-Law had caught a chill, but from her pulse, it was clearly not just a simple chill.
She had a feeling that there seemed to be some force in Sixth Sister-In-Law's body causing her chill to become severe.
