The Extra's Survival
Some of the nervous students turned around, looking for Lucas to ask him whether it was a wise decision to fight the monsters here instead of retreating.
Lucas nodded and spoke"The monsters that are coming towards us are much stronger than before. If we turned our back now and started to escape, they will catch us in no time. While fleeing our formation will be in disarray, it will be easier for them to take us down. So instead of sacrificing our lives worthless, it's better to face now than fall back."
Lucas answered confidently to comfort his nervous classmates.
The remaining students here were already started to see Lucas and Fredrick as thier leaders.
Even if they were given a chance to puff thier pride and try to show off thier leadership skill, they didn't want to take this responsibility as they knew they may not able to handle the situation like Fredrick and Lucas.
It was quite ironic that these noble children who fight till the death for the sake of pride and ego were willing to put thier head down and listen to someone of lower status than them when their life is actually in danger.
While everyone was admiring Lucas, he was immersed in his thoughts.
If his strategy was successful, they would at least have a chance to take down many in one go and even if they fail they will have a chance to retreat.
The goblins were not ordinary. Along with thier high mana, their skin was quite tough compared to the one Lucas had met in the dungeons.
It may be due to the evolution of thier race or may be due to the goblins adapting themselves to the outside world.
Whatever may be the reason, they have to take them down and protect thier lives.
A loud shout snapped Lucas out of his thoughts.
Lucas looked ahead to see Fredrick coming back followed by many goblins trying to catch him.
Lucas and Fredrick have selected this narrow mud pathway near the west of the village.
This part was the outer perimeter of the village followed by brick houses at the back, in case of danger they have broken some walls which they will use to escape and close them using the earth magic after escaping.
Fredrick was slightly away from the place and was tasked to lead the goblins here into the strike zone where traps are led.
Sceiiiiii
Pipippp
Harchjajhahhhhh...
The goblins moved towards us emitting disgusting noises.
pᴀɴda nᴏvel "They are coming. Mages be prepared. We will only have a single chance." Lucas shouted.
"Everyone stay focused, from this point, we will be in a do or die situation."
They were risking thier life taking the chances. Missing just a fraction of a second meant death against these monsters who used their number to bully the weaker ones. So they have to be prepared.
As the goblins neared them, all the students released thier aura. The combined pressure emitted from all the student's presents there made the earth shake a little and the surrounding walls of the houses started to crack.
Fredrick leapt in the air to avoid the traps and came to thier sides.
Lucas had already planted some more bombs that he had got from James.
The goblins ran towards them like maniacs with a hungry look as if they hadn't gotten food for days.
The ground trembled by thier steps and dust hovered surrounding them.
Running towards them, they finally stepped on the strike zone.
Booooooommmmm.Booooommm.
Bloom.Bang...
GuhoollAhoaolhhhooo.
A huge explosion took place shaking the whole area which rang like thunder on the ears of the students followed by a maddened cry of the goblin.
The goblins panicked seeing they have fallen into these maggots' traps.
The mages manipulated the earth's magic to open the ground forming a hole that swallowed the goblins followed by the blast of fire.
As they fell on the hole, the mines planted by Lucas exploded with a huge rumble.
"Shoot. Shoot," Fredrick roared.
"Aim especially for thier head, eyes and limbs," Lucas shouted at the back.
He had already advised them to attack the weak points so that even if they don't die at least they wouldn't be in fighting condition.
As Lucas's voice fell, all the students fired the spell and long-range skills, they had in thier arsenal.
Red trails followed by many colours of light flew towards the goblins as the students didn't hold back and poured out everything they got.
Rose fired two arrows with her full strength which not only took out the goblins in the front but also tool several ones behind the lines along with forming a trail of a fissure on the surface of the ground.
Seeing everybody in action, Lucas's blood boiled. He wanted to save some mana for the goblins who would breach the line.
But now he thought he should show some of his firepowers.
"Lucas, it's time to go half-out," Lucas spoke to himself.
Mutte ring these, a surge of mana condensed around Lucas as the surrounding atmosphere started freezing.
Ten spikes of ice condensed in the air.
Feeling the chill in the atmosphere they took a pick at Lucas and saw ice spikes materialising out of thin air and frowned pondering whether it was a skill or ability
Feeling the pressure Lucas was emitting now, they were honestly wondering where did Lucas with his background get this type of power.
Admiring the ice spikes, they thought it must be the skill given by Princess as Princess specialises in ice types skills.
Lucas deliberately used ice spikes instead of fire glow so that others may misunderstand thinking that it came from Princess.
The ice spikes hovered around the air and aimed at the hoard of monsters.
Lucas pointed his hands at them, and spikes hovering around him dashed towards the monsters tearing the air with an incredible speed.
Booom.Boom
With a huge bang, the spikes collided with the monsters scattering the dust with piles of debris coming out from the spot where it hit forming a small crater.
After launching ten spikes at once, Lucas took time to summon one spike and shoot, then shot another spike.
Like a machine gun shooting bullets, Lucas took time to materialise a spike and shoot towards the goblin.
The goblins panicked and roared swinging thier clubs to break the incoming ice spikes but the force of the spikes knocked them out and some spikes even pierced the goblin's bodies at the front followed the ones standing at the back.
Even the E rank was seriously injured by the incoming attacks let alone the weaker ones, Lucas using his telekinesis ability, had further increased the momentum of the spikes before hitting the enemy.
All the ones who were casting spells looked at Lucas in awe. His back looked majestic while he was shooting spell after spell non-stop.
Each of his attacks were taking two to three goblins.
It was fortunate that hadn't heard Lucas's previous words if they had heard his words that what he was doing was half out then they would have probably knocked their head on the wall asking what was full out then?
While the bombardment of the spell was going on, Lucas had a sudden realization.
He was thinking if he could fire both ice spikes and fireball at the same time.
Thinking this he used his left hand to use the fire glow but except flickering of small sparks, he was not able to make a fireball, on the other hand, the ice spikes that he was shooting didn't materialise fully and appeared like a narrow rod.
"Tsk." Lucas clicked his tongue.
"To use both the skills, I need to focus my attention equally which I was not able to do at the current moment," Lucas spoke
After his discovery, he gave up on using fireballs and fully concentrated on shooting spikes.
Lucas's face started to become pale as his mana started to dry at an astonishing rate. He had already thrown more than forty ice spikes which started to take a toll on his mana.
After bombarding with spells and using thier skills for half an hour, they finally stopped.
They were already exhausted and some even fall on the spot.
If not for the healer Garcia to accompany them, they would have already worn out.
Lucas was panting heavily and his chest rose and fell as he took a deep breath.
They have already done what they could do by using long-range attacks, the remaining ones have to take care of Fredrick and Parth along with others who are good at close combat.
Lucas looked at the distance, hearing the incoming groans of the goblins, he shook his head.
Even after so much firepower, some are still hanging on to thier lives.
Before thr dust could settle, from the cloud of dust goblins started to emerge charging at them. There were many E ranks out of the ones charging but most of them were looked injured some even missing a limb.
Their green coloured body is replaced by crimson and they looked as if they had just taken bath in the blood instead of water.
Fredrick waved his spear signalling his classmates to charge with him.
Lucas took a step back into thr crowd and secretly gulped a few potions buying them from the system.
He didn't move to attack at once after all he can't explain that he has just taken potions when he and Fredrick advised the other not to take in case of emergency.
But the situation before them was exactly an emergency, so he had to take it now as many E ranks were coming for them.
After recuperating for a minute or two he will offer a hand if they were struggling to keep the enemy in check.
As Fredrick and others were engaging with the dozens of goblins, a silhouette appeared in between the battlefield sweeping down the dozen of goblins like dust.
