Chapter 516: 516: The World Banished to the Void and Corrupted by the Ancient Gods
Chapter 516: Chapter 516: The World Banished to the Void and Corrupted by the Ancient Gods
Cruising the void in the spaceship, they found Wu Zhonglin, who had transformed into a dragon, along with a few players who had powerful items to preserve their lives. The underlings of their leader templates had all died, but gathering everyone together, they still had about thirty to forty underlings, which the magic airship could accommodate.
On the airship, no one spoke; they had not yet recovered from the sudden blow.
Though the Children of Nightmare were banished just like them, it was clear that they had prepared in advance, with many having left early, resulting in fewer deaths.
Of course, that wasn’t the main point. What should they do next?
Where was this place?
Where to go?
How to get back?
It was a long while before someone recovered from the shock and asked the first question:
“If I’m not mistaken, we were banished by a projection of a Child of Nightmare, and there’s a True Body of a Child of Nightmare descending in this world.”
“You’re not wrong, there indeed is a True Body Descend of a Child of Nightmare in this world.”
Everyone fell silent again.
“Wasn’t True-Body Descend absolutely prohibited?”
“The Dominator prohibited it, but the Dominator isn’t truly omnipotent; there’s always someone who can smuggle their way here.”
“This is not good news!”
Lin Xiao pinched his chin, saying to Wu Zhonglin:
“We need to find a way to go back and inform the Dominator on our side, otherwise, this will be bad for our Dominator and humans.”
Wu Zhonglin was lost in thought, and upon hearing this, he looked up and said:
“This is tricky. We have no idea where we are in this void, nor how far we are from our original location. Right now, we are totally in the dark. The most urgent thing is to determine our position. Start up the airship; let’s find a world to locate ourselves.”
“But how do we locate ourselves? Everything around us is pitch black, filled with the void, and there are no planes to orient ourselves with.”
This player named Jietuo with a smile seemed quite agitated.
After thinking for a bit, Lin Xiao took out the Void Dragon Scales and began to activate them. A faint, ghostly light spread out, attracting everyone’s attention. He said:
“This is a token given to me by the Void Dragon Gurusajaha whom I rescued. Using it can summon him or the nearest Void Dragon. If we can call a Void Dragon, we might find a way or direction home.”
“Let’s hope there’s a Void Dragon nearby,”
he added in his heart.
At this stage, it was a very reliable method, and everyone watched the dragon scales in his hand full of hope.
But as time passed, ten minutes, half an hour, one hour—the dragon scales showed no sign of reaction, and the hope in people’s eyes slowly dissipated.
Lin Xiao said with a smile:
“Don’t worry, the void is immense, and it’s normal that it’s hard to find anything in an instant. Let’s choose a direction to start, and activate them at intervals.”
“It’s the only thing we can do right now.”
Several mages channeled their mana into the airship, driving it to fly in a certain direction at a “snail’s pace” of 300 kilometers per hour.
A speed of 300 kilometers per hour would be considered extremely fast within the world, but in the vast, boundless void, it was painstakingly slow. There was no helping it; when this thing was designed, they never considered that it would need to shuttle through the void.
Every few hours, Lin Xiao would stop the airship to activate the Void Dragon Scales for about an hour, but there was no response, similar to a signal being out of the service area.
As time went on, one day, two days, one week, two weeks, a month passed by, and the emotions of the other players on the airship began to swerve into despair, becoming irritable.
Lin Xiao had no solution for this; although he could maintain his composure, he couldn’t demand the same patience from others.
In fact, starting to emotionally break down after a month in the silent void was already quite extraordinary; ordinary people wouldn’t have lasted that long.
After a month of no response, Lin Xiao himself started to have a bad premonition and was contemplating whether to part ways with everyone.
Just because others had no way out didn’t mean he had none. Within his Creation Rubik’s Cube, he stored Divinity and Godforce Crystals. Previously, he had prepared ten units of Divinity and one thousand units of Godforce Crystals. The amount was quite large, intended for when he leveled up to a certain extent and the restrictions of the Creation Rubik’s Cube were lifted so that he could use them in one go to make his True Body a Demigod.
Now trapped in a dire situation and unable to wait any longer, he was ready to split off a small portion of the large amount of Divinity and Godforce Crystals for emergency use.
Perhaps he couldn’t become a Demigod in one fell swoop, but it would still be no problem for him to increase his strength to rival Wu Zhonglin’s, which would help deal with urgent matters at hand.
However, such a god-mode action definitely couldn’t be carried out under the watchful eyes of everyone. The airship was only so large, and merging Divinity and Godforce would create too much noise and could easily be discovered, so he had to separate from the group—everyone would go their separate ways.
But it had only been a month, and they hadn’t reached complete despair.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
After consideration, Lin Xiao decided to wait another month or two until everyone had totally lost hope. Then, it would seem reasonable to propose that they each go their own way.
However…
On a certain day, half a month later, he took out the dragon scales as part of his routine and casually activated them.
He actually felt it was unnecessary, but to truly drive everyone to despair, he had to at least keep up appearances; so, he persisted in activating the Dragon Scales daily, attempting to summon the nonexistent Void Dragon.
However, this time, less than a minute after activation, the Dragon Scales suddenly glowed intensely, and a rich stream of Void Energy burst forth. The scales slipped from his grasp and transformed into a gigantic draconic visage hovering in the air, its pupils brimming with an eerie glow, its mighty voice booming throughout the hall:
“Human who holds the friendship of the Void Dragon, what matter calls for my summons?”
The woman lounging by the window of the Magic Airship abruptly tried to sit up too quickly and fell flat on the floor with a ‘thump’. She quickly rolled over and crawled closer, her eyes shining with excitement as she gazed at the dragon head formed from the Dragon Scales, while the others surrounded it, faces full of anticipation.
By now, Lin Xiao had recovered from his shock. Though this twist disrupted his plan, making contact with the Void Dragon was surely better than wandering aimlessly.
He composed himself and explained their current predicament, looking expectantly at the Void Dragon named Asaniel.
“Hmm!”
The Void Dragon Asaniel pondered for a moment, then spoke in a deep, resonant voice characteristic of dragons:
“I have both good news and bad news. Which would you like to hear first?”
“I’d like to hear the good news first!”
“The good news is that I indeed know the location of Gurusajaha, which means as long as you find my kin, you can return home.”
“And the bad news?”
“The bad news is that I am currently obliged to safeguard my people in their exodus from this Void, unable to transport you.”
Lin Xiao quickly replied:
“There’s no need for you to transport us. Just tell us how to return, and we will make our way back on our own.”
The Void Dragon Asaniel continued:
“That too is a part of the bad news; the path home for you has been severed.”
“Why?”
“Not far from here, there’s a planet teeming with intelligent life called Du Longer. However, this planet has been overtaken by Ancient gods, and countless minions of the Ancient gods have killed the planet’s sentient beings, aiming to corrupt the Star Soul within. Not long ago, I discovered that the Star Soul had begun to show signs of corruption, and then I abandoned this world to lead my kin away.”
Lin Xiao…
Wu Zhonglin…
All others…
At that moment, the Void Dragon Asaniel spoke again:
“In Du Longer, there is a city named Mahadun, which was once the magic center of the Du Longer world. There, the former World Guardians built a Mage Tower, which contains a Teleportation Array to other worlds, but now Mahadun has fallen to the minions of the Ancient gods, and the Teleportation Array has been shut down. If you manage to take Mahadun, you could reactivate the Teleportation Array.”
“But, I believe it would be difficult for you to accomplish this, for in Mahadun, there lies a tendril of the Ancient gods. You must kill this extension of the Ancient god, a feat beyond your current strength.”
“Human who holds the friendship of the Void Dragon, you now have two choices.”
The Void Dragon Asaniel spoke again:
“Leave this place with me, and until I find a new habitat for my kin, I will then transport you back to your homeland.”
“Or I can transport you to Du Longer, where you can try to resolve the issue on your own or ally yourself with the last of Du Longer’s Resistance Force against the Ancient gods. Hold out until I find a new home for my kin, and if you’re still alive by then, I’ll take you home.”
“I do not have much time. Please make your decision quickly.”
An hourglass only visible to Lin Xiao appeared before him, with just half an hour left.
He informed the others about the hourglass, and the six players present began a heated discussion.
Soon, they reached a unanimous decision—to head for Du Longer.
Leaving their fate entirely in the hands of another was not the style of gamers; who knew how long the Void Dragon would take to find a new home—decades, maybe? Would they drift in the Void for that long? It was better to attempt their chances in Du Longer first.
Though it was dangerous, they were not weak, and besides, there was the Resistance Force in Du Longer—they could join them.
Asaniel did not dwell on their decision but looked towards Lin Xiao, waiting for him to voice their desire to go to Du Longer, before saying:
“As you wish, I will transport you to the last dwelling place of the Void Dragon clan before we left. Unfortunately, it is now occupied by the minions of the Ancient gods, and you will have to escape from there on your own.”
“No problem. Thank you, Asaniel!”
“Oh, and in Du Longer, there are some Void Dragons and dragons who refused to retreat. Should you encounter them, you may be able to get some help. And if you can open the Teleportation Array in Mahadun, I hope you will take any dragons willing to leave with you.”
“I’ll do my best!”
“Good. Follow my lead, then!”
A set of coordinates appeared on Lin Xiao’s dark Void map, and he quickly directed the Magic Airship toward them.
What followed was a long, boring journey, no different from before, but this time everyone was filled with anticipation instead of despair.
Finally, after six months, with over a dozen vials of Bloodline Essence, a split of two units of Divinity, and twenty Godforce Crystals in hand, the Magic Airship traversed an unknown distance to arrive in front of a brown planet suspended in the Void.
