The Dungeon Conquerors: Journey to the Peak

Chapter 324 Ch 327: Fake Haunted House

After going through the whole large house and not only the areas mentioned by the owner, Rein did found a lot of things that were indicating that a ghost was here but after a closer look, all of those things turned out to be false.

All the signs of the ghost that Rein and his team has managed to find were false and artificial. This was extremely disappointing to Lopas who was genuinely looking forward to seeing a ghost but at the same time, this was an clear indication that the ghost of this house was a fabrication that someone had created with unknown and probably evil intention.

But as it was clear from his previous spatial search, no one was in the house for the time being. So all this was set up by the mastermind before their arrival. For that reason, Rein and his group had no way to catch the culprit now.

But the culprit also needed to come back later to reorganise the ghostly signs and to maintain them. So if Rein continued keeping an eye on the building, he was sure to find them eventually.

But one thing in this whole situation surprised Rein extremely. The amount of renovation that was done to create the sign of ghost was a lot and it was almost impossible to pull that off without anyone noticing it.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

According to the house owner, before their arrival here, five guards were continuously petrolling the surroundings of the building. So it sounded almost impossible that none of the guards noticed anything happening inside the building.

Even though the building was very big, in a quiet mansion like this, even a simple sound would create disturbance that would be easy to spot. So this whole thing looked very unusual to Rein.

Luna also noticed another detail that even Rein failed to notice. The things that were used for this disguise of ghost were quite rare and expensive so it was not something just anyone could get their hands on. Not only it would cost a lot of money, they also needed connection to a high ranking mage to find them. So it was definitely not something that a regular organisation was capable of doing.

...

From all this information, Luna and Rein immediately reached a conclusion about who had the highest chance of being a culprit. At first they were planning to tell the owner how they had identified the signs of the ghosts to be false but now as they were suspecting him to be behind all this, they decided to keep him in the dark and continue the investigation privately.

If the quest giver was really behind all this, then what he had done was misleading the academy and it was a big crime. For this giving a large fine was the most generous punishment. There was even a chance that his life might even be in danger.

This extreme punishment was very rare for something like this but as this time the people related to this fraud were a royal princess and the daughter of a duke who was extremely loved by the headmaster, the chance of it happening was very high.

But for that, first Rein needed to find proper evidence. So after leaving the mansion they all acted like they had not noticed the fake ghost activity and told the quest giver that they had not managed to find the ghost so they were planning the spend the night there to investigate properly.

The quest giver easily agreed to this and was even ready to supply them with items they would need to stay in that house. But Rein turned him down by telling him that they already had everything that they would need. Then Rein told him that he and the girls were planning to walk around the market of the city until it was night and left the quest giver's house.

After they left the house, Rein had thought that someone might be following them but that did not happened. So it looked like this businessman was quite intelligent as he was aware of the fact that trying to secretly keep an eye on a rank four mage like them was almost impossible, so he did not even try that.

Even when he was having a date in the market with his girls, Rein was keeping an eye on the building in question even from this distance. And soon he noticed that a large group of about 15 people entering the building.

From this display it was clear that the owner of the house was definitely aware of this plan. One or two people sneaking past his security was very much possible but for 15 people to do that was impossible. Not only that but those people were not even trying to be stealthy and entered the house through the main gate.

Soon Rein noticed that the people got busy with setting up more proof of the ghost and also made the previous signs to be more defined. This was the perfect time to catch all of them red handed, so Rein got ready to teleport to the house.

Lopas hugged Rein tightly as she would also be teleporting, while Luna weaved her hand to bid them goodbye. While Rein and Lopas would be catching the culprit red handed, Luna would use her status as a royal princess to bring the royal secret agency to the house as their witness.

...

Lansorek was extremely pleased with his recent plan. He was swindle with that large and useless house but now if he could get the certification of the academy mages that the house really was haunted, then he could sell that to a rich ghost enthusiast for a large sum of money.

When he was in a very good mood, suddenly the door to his office was pushed open and a servant came in with a frantic expression on his face. Lansorek was displeased by this as he always wanted his servants to behave extremely well mannered like servant of high class nobles.

But before he could scold the servant for his unsightly display, the servant shouted that two of the mages who came to the city had suddenly disappeared from the middle of the market and the last remaining one had also disappeared after entering a small general store.

Hearing this immediately Lansorek stood up from his chair. At first he was disappointed to see that the mages from the academy were so young as then their certification would not be very valuable.

But then after knowing that they were rank 4 mages, Lansorek was overjoyed and a bit scared at the same time. A rank 4 mage telling that the house was haunted was very valuable but fooling a mage like that was not easy but still Lansorek had confidence in his disguise as he had spend a huge amount of money for it so he decided to take the risk.

When the mages came back from the house without suspecting anything, he felt extremely happy as his plan was a success. But now it looked like he was celebrating too early. These children turned out to be more devious than they looked.

So what was Lansorek going to do now ?
