The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 128

128 Clash of the titans

Yi Chen who was still suffering slight tremors in his hands due to fear and anxiety clumsily replied, “Mn... ahem.” The reason why he cleared his throat was because he had noticed that his hands weren’t the only things shaking. His voice was also shaky. The effects of adrenaline hadn’t fully worn off at this point.

As he reached over to pick up the first weapon on the ground his body was suddenly rammed into the wall and the cold mental from a muzzle of a laser shotgun pistol pressed against his temple.

He was suddenly met by Zi Xingxi’s hatred-filled expression. His heart jolted seeing this. He understood that Zi Xingxi didn’t like him and she had emphasized countless times that she didn’t want him anywhere near her son. Time and time again he defied her as though testing the limits of a mad woman.

But there was something buried deep in those hate-filled eyes. Something beyond the current issue. It must have something to do with his father because he hadn’t done anything that warranted such hate.

“What did I tell you before... huh?!” asked Zi Xingxi and when he didn’t reply she gripped his neck and stared straight at him with her bloodshot eyes. The air was filled with intense gun powder that at the slightest moment she would be set off.

Zi Han’s eyes widened before he used the wall to support himself and walked over to hold his mother back.

He grasped her arm holding the pistol and gulped with beads of sweat flowing down his face. He tried to pull her arm while calling out “Ma!” but Zi Xingxi was an SSS-ranked trained assassin. This meant he couldn’t move her hand. He had never despised being weak like he did now.

He could only coax her into letting Yi Chen go. “Ma! I wanted to come.... just, just let him go,” he whispered but one could hear the desperation in his voice.

Zi Han heard footsteps coming from behind him and when he turned around he saw secretary K walking over in a hurry. Out of desperation, he asked secretary K for help but as his voice fell Zi Xingxi tightened his hold.

.....

Yi Chen’s face turned red with the veins on the sides of his neck bulging but he didn’t back down nor was there any trace of fear in his red-rimmed eyes. It was like a stand-off between titans.

Secretary K’s steps paused seeing her tightening her hold. If he spoke now he would only add fuel to the flames so he took a step back and gestured to Zi Han That he has to talk some sense into her.

But soon he regretted asking Zi Han that because as facts have proven he was as crazy as his mother. Panting heavily with the tip of his tongue pressing hard against his cheek he grabbed his handgun and pointed it at himself.

No, he wasn’t suicidal neither would he pull the trigger but it was the only way to end this conflict. As expected Zi Xingxi came out of her madness and immediately let go of Yi Chen. Her eyes lackluster she rushed over and took the handgun away from Zi Han’s chin.

It wasn’t only her who was shaken. Yi Chen was so frightened that he called out, “Zi Han!” but before he could take a step forward Zi Xingxi drew her weapon again and threatened,

“You stay there,” before turning to Zi Han.

Zi Han felt very uncomfortable watching a pistol being pointed at Yi Chen. He pulled her hand down and this time she didn’t struggle. She obediently holstered her weapon and tried to talk sense into Zi Han.

“You can’t do that ever again, do you hear me?!” she said pushing his hair away from his cheeks before pressing both her palms on them.

Zi Han held her hand trying to coax her, “I won’t but don’t threaten my friend. If you keep doing that who would be willing to befriend me?”

Zi Xingxi wanted to say she had already prohibited him from befriending Yi Chen but she swallowed back her words and could only accept that there was nothing she could do to stop these two from hanging out with each other.

She might have come to terms with it but she wouldn’t let Yi Chen get away with it. With that thought in mind, she turned to Yi Chen, and with a loud bam, she punched him in the face. Her movements were so fast that Zi Han couldn’t stop her in time.

“Ma!” yelled Zi Han as he rushed over to help Yi Chen up but his mother grabbed his arm and said,

“That’s for asking him to come out when you knew that something was going to happen.”

After saying this Zi Xingxi dragged her kid out of the alley feeling satisfied. All that anger and resentment towards Yi Chen had reduced significantly.

She might not accept the interaction between her son and him but at least each time she sees them together she won’t have the urge to punch him in the face.

Secretary K was at a loss at this point. He wanted to smooth things over but Yi Chen’s expression didn’t seem so good. He just followed after Zi Xingxi and Zi Han.

As he stepped out of the alley he was met by Yi Feng and a couple of admirals to the Marshal who were here to back up Yi Chen but unfortunately, they were too late.

Secretary K stopped next to Yi Feng and with two of them facing opposite sides he whispered, “Tell him not to take it to heart. This hatred has nothing to do with him but his father.”

Yi Feng didn’t understand what he was talking about but he didn’t need to. All he had to do was relay the message that’s it. Soon he caught on to the meaning of ‘tell him not to take it to heart’.

Half of his cousin’s face was swollen, he was bleeding through his nose and his lip was busted. Zi Xingxi really dealt a heavy hand on him. If it weren’t because of Yi Chen’s SS rank he might have had his skull bashed in.

“Are you okay?” asked Yi Feng as he took out his medical kit.

Yi Chen wiped away the blood from his nose with the back of his hand as he leaned against the wall fending off the dizziness. He was in a very fucked up mood right now and he might end up taking it out on the wrong person.
