Chapter 76 - Meeting The Marquess
The room was dim, but that did not hinder Lucas' vision one bit. He could clearly see the furniture around him, and beyond the desk, the curves of a voluptuous woman who was facing the window.
"It is bad manners to not greet someone who has traveled so much to get here.", Lucas said.
"My, my. Why not give some privacy?", the woman, who was clearly the Marquess, chuckled as she said out loud. A purple hint appeared on the window, but it disappeared as fast as it arrived.
Then, she turned over and looked at Lucas.
Although Lucas could see everything around him clearly, it seemed that the darkness truly covered the Marquess' face. Her face just blended into the darkness.
"Forgive me. Your friend outside was trying to disturb our little meeting, so I gave him a little warning.", she said, smiling. Her teeth could be seen, but nothing else.
"Interesting. Very interesting. I never saw Apophis care for a mortal so much that he would give a mortal a scale of his shredded skin. Truly remarkable. You interest me, human.", Fenrir spoke all of a sudden.
"It is my honour to interest you, and to be at your service, Red Wolf.", the Marquess bowed down. Lucas took a deep breath as he saw her huge twin peaks just bouncing because of gravity.
"Well, there certainly was the entertaining aspect of it all.", he chuckled.
The Marquess raised her head and looked at Lucas. Her expression was unknown, but by the tone of her voice, it seemed that she did not like Lucas' comment at all.
"I was chosen as an Apostle to the great God of Chaos not because of my material looks, but because of my beliefs, and my affinity to Chaos.", she said coldly.
"Alright, alright. I believe you. Now, aren't you going to offer us a seat?", he asked.
The Marquess pointed to the chair in front of the desk. Liu Feng nodded as he took a seat, and swirled in it.
"Why no lights? I mean, even if you are the apostle of Apophis, you still are human. You can't live without light, can you?", Lucas asked.
"The light is for the weak, who cannot take the darkness. That just means that they are not fit to live in this world.", the Marquess said coldly.
"That is... an interesting way to look at things. But you do realize that no matter how much you adore the darkness, the world will not. Everyone will prefer the light. If you want to kill off all hope in this world, and destroy it, what will you do? Just by yourself, and maybe a few others side by side.", Lucas asked her.
"What my intentions are, are not of your concern.", the Marquess said coldly.
"But they are of mine. You have put me in quite the hassle here. I was sleeping cozily, but then you came and woke me up. There better be a good reason for it, because so far, almost everything that happened was very boring.", Fenrir spoke.
"My Lord. It was not my intention to let you live in boredom. I thought that by releasing you from this mortal vessel that contained you, you would achieve proper freedom.", the marquess said hastily.
"I have been thinking about what you are doing so far. You wanted to release my brother, but he is tightly guarded. As for your dear old master, he is even strictly guarded by all of Egypt, and half of Africa. As for the gods of the underworld that might support you, you know that blood is thicker than water. Lucifer is the son of God, and Hades is Zeus' brother. Yama will never do anything that is against the dharma. You need a proper god to start the fight, and the easiest you have gotten is me.", Fenrir said.
"Since when did you do such deep analyses?", Lucas laughed out.
"Whenever they are required. Clearly, now is one such time.", Fenrir said.
"What you have spoken is absolutely true, My Lord. You are the easiest god to release, and also one of the truest to our cause. The hatred you have towards the gods cannot be faked. They have caused injustice to you, and you have the right to fight back.", the Marquess spoke.
"First of all, I don't know who you are. You are a woman who is afraid to show even your face to me, and I do not even know your name.", Fenrir said.
"If that is what I need to show to gain your trust then I shall do that. But this mortal cannot know. He must be removed from this plane before I reveal my name.", she said.
"Now this is troubling. Although Lucas is my mortal shell, as everyone has been constantly pointing out for the last few days, one thing that no one remembers, is that I chose him. Just like Apophis chose you, I chose Lucas. And I had a stricter criterion than just seeing who had a body of chaos and who didn't.", Fenrir said coldly.
The marquess quivered for a few moments. "Does that mean that My Lord does not wish to be freed from the prison that the gods have confined him in?", she asked.
"Again with the prison. Maybe think of this more as a, how do I say this, a lounge. I am just staying here and resting, biding my time, waiting for the right time to strike.", Fenrir said.
The Marquess trembled once more. She pointed towards Lucas.
"You human. You are the reason that My Lord has changed so much. His noble demeanor has become much calmer. Once you are dead, then all will be settled. My Lord will see the truth and will no longer be clouded by your judgment.", she said.
