Chapter 33 - The Marquess
"Tell me now. Where is that bitch's lair? Where does the goddamn Marquess live?", his hoarse voice echoed all around the floor.
All the others looked at the two carefully. They had no idea what they were talking about, but they did not even speak.
"In New York. I am not sure where she is located. You have to ask an information broker for the exact place. I cannot help you there.", Michael said, his voice shaking.
"New York? You said that she controls many of the packs in North America. Will they know where she is?", Lucas snarled.
"Why would they know? No one knows. Even an information broker might not know. She is very secluded. Now move away. You are literally suffocating me.", Michael started panting heavily. Lucas closed his eyes, and the red shimmer disappeared. He glanced at the council members.
"I am leaving. I have to find her.", he said and he turned around, walking away.
"We are just going to let him walk away?", Mu Chen asked.
"Can you stop him? He is Lucas right now. Not Fenrir. He can try to break away from these chains. All we can do is follow him.", Praneeth shook his head.
"Fine then. Let's go?", Michael asked.
"Not yet, Michael. You have a lot of explaining to do.", Arthur held Michael's wrist. "A hell of a lot"
Michael sighed as he turned back to face all of them. "Lucas found out that there was someone behind Peter who got this to happen. She must have been the one to sponsor the rare variant of wolfsbane. She is called the Marquess.", he said.
"The Marquess? Highly unambitious name for someone who wants to kill the red wolf.", Angela commented.
"Well, she has power alright. In werewolf circles, she is practically Hitler. Everyone knows her, and everyone fears her. She controls most packs in the northern hemisphere, and if she is in New York, that means that she has at least hundreds if not thousands of people around her to protect her."
"That's why you did not tell us, didn't you? You knew that we would oppose his revenge immediately. Doesn't matter! You called us here from all over the world. It is your responsibility to tell us everything that you know.", Arthur snarled, his voice growing by the minute.
"I am not the one who called you! Lucas is. I was merely a messenger. Bring it with that psycho if you want. Don't get me in the middle. I already have enough stress as it is.", Michael shook his head.
"What is the probability that this Marquess person can kill Lucas and take away Fenrir for herself?", Praneeth asked calmly. All of the people sucked in cold air just thinking about the possibility.
"Without any gods free to monitor him, even if Fenrir is free in the mortal realm, he might not be stopped until some time. That means that Fenrir is free to find a new host to suit his needs. We cannot allow that.", Michael said softly.
"Then why the hell are we dilly dallying here when he is literally walking to his death?", Raphael asked.
The council members nodded in agreement and went to the entrance. Their cars were still there, bar one that Lucas took.
"That bastard!", Michael's vein on his forehead started throbbing. "Of the five cars that he saw, he had to pick mine? I am going to kill him when I see him next.", he shouted.
"Calm down. You can hop onto my car. I'll let you ride shotgun.", Arthur smiled provocatively as he got onto his own car. Michael gnashed his teeth, but he was not stupid. He kicked his ego to the curb and got onto Arthur's car.
"Where are we going?", Arthur asked Michael. All the others had their windows rolled dow, all looking at Michael.
"What do you mean where? Did you not hear me talking to Lucas? To the one information broke that we all trust in New York. We are going to Papa Midnite's club", Michael said, as he rested his head on the seat. "Looks like we are all in for a hell of a ride."
