Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Darkseid War VIII



[3rd POV]

Gazing at the ruler of Apokolips, Gwen noticed the sight of his two trusted followers at his sides, Desaad and Granny Goodness. Not only that, but there was a large legion of parademons that continued to trickle out of the boomtube and into the surrounding areas.

"...You all need to leave, now" Gwen said, staring at the man that most certainly knew of their presence.

"What? We can't leave you when he's right ther-" "Now, Dick. I'm serious" Gwen said, cutting her brother off as she turned to him, her eyes hardening.

They all looked at her in slight surprise, as they had never seen her so serious before.

"...And what are you going to do?" Raven asked, causing Gwen to turn to her with a small sigh.

"Fight him and the rest of them off the best I can, and hope I can at least take the last of his elites out" Gwen said, as two notifications formed in front of her.

"And you think you can defeat him? Gwen, you're just one person! Not even Superman or the Flash can fight that many people, and they're faster than sound!" Wally exclaimed, while Gwen turned to him.

"I can, and I will. Because as much as I love you guys, none of you stand a chance against Darkseid. Well, except Raven, but you haven't reached your full potential to be able to do that" Gwen replied, while Raven looked surprised.

"I can defeat him?"

"If you reach your true potential? You'd be one of the strongest people in the universe, Raven, even stronger than your father" Gwen replied, causing Raven to look even more shocked, before Dick spoke up.

"What should we do then? Just let you stay and potentially get yourself killed?" Dick said, scowling at the idea. He didn't want his sister to throw her life away.

"You're going to find and alert the League members of this. You'll tell them to ONLY send their heavy hitters, Shazam, Captain Atom, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Lanterns. Don't send any of the normal humans, yes that includes dad. He'd get slaughtered by Darkseid. I'm serious Dick, I don't want anyone dying to his hands, and that means not risking your lives stupidly" Gwen replied, causing him to frown.

"And you fighting him alone isn't stupid?" Artemis asked, frowning at her girlfriends decision.

"I'm immortal, remember? Killing me, even for him, is very very difficult. And I'm ready for him Artemis, I wouldn't be ready to fight him if I didn't have confidence in fighting and defeating him" Gwen replied, knowing her girlfriend was just worried for her at the moment.

"Please can you guys just trust me on this?" Gwen asked softly, causing the team to glance at one another.

"Fine, but the second we find out you're in danger, we're coming back, even if it costs us our lives" Conner replied, completely serious at the idea.

"I'd expect nothing less from you guys. Now go and get the League" Gwen said, as they nodded.

"Don't die...please" Raven softly said, locking lips with Gwen.

"If you die, I'll bring you back and then kill you again" Artemis muttered as she kissed Gwen. "Please live" M'gann said softly, kissing her, before the three of them ran off after the rest of the team, where they'd soon zeta-tube out of the city to where the league would no doubt be.

Watching them run off, Gwen breathed in deeply.

'System, turn all the UL tickets into NL ones, and then consume them' Gwen thought, knowing she needed this last power up before the final battle against Darkseid. The man in question was seemingly waiting for her, and was at the very least giving her the chance to prepare. Arrogance was a curse, even for him.

There wasn't much of note from the characters, besides Gambit and his power, Lavinia's absolute demise which basically just allows her to control ice to an immense extent, and dimension lost, which is sort of a large mist that can teleport massive amounts of objects and attacks. Dimension lost was the best, mainly because it had the potential to teleport the attacks of Darkseid.

The assimilation took less than 30 seconds, as her body rapidly adapted to the changes, as she readied herself to fight the Ruler of Apokolips. The knowledge filled her brain, with most of it being pretty useless to her, with small bits of neat knowledge.

'Alright...let's get down there' Gwen thought, as she breathed in, her mask covering her face as she lept from the large building she had been standing atop of.

Swinging through the (mostly) ruins of Metropolis, Gwen was inwardly planning rapidly.

'I've got to get rid of Desaad and Goodness the first chance I get. Distracting Darkseid would be the easiest way of doing that. Neither of them would be fast enough to actually dodge my attacks, so I should be able to kill them before they even have the chance to fight back. With them gone, finishing the quests will be easy enough, and I should be able to use the weapon I've prepared, it might not do anything to Darkseid himself, but it will cripple him in other ways' Gwen thought, as she swung through the ruins, before eventually, she landed.

"You are the best resistance this planet holds?" Darkseid's voice boomed, as Gwen stared the man down, noting Granny Goodness and Desaad's arrogant smirks. If anything would lead to their downfall, it would be that arrogance.

"Yep, better than you were anticipating, wasn't it? I mean really, only 100,000 parademons? What, did you think just because they're stronger than a normal human, they'd defeat the entire planet?" Gwen said.

"You will still fall beneath my boot, regardless of this pitiful resistance" Darkseid spoke, his eyes glowing slightly.

"Really? Even though your getting your ass kicked? I mean, you lost all your furies. All your children, and are losing tens of thousands of Parademons every few minutes. Are you sure your going to crush me beneath your boot?" Gwen replied, a snort escaping her.

Inwardly she was deciding which of the two to kill first, before deciding on Desaad. The man was more dangerous, and he was slippery like a rat, him dying first would stop any sort of escape, not that they'd be able to either way.

"They were weak. I am not" Darkseid replied, as his eyes glowed brighter.

"All fall before Darkseid...in the end"

As Darkseid spoke these words, Gwen's senses flared, as she was shown him using his omega beams on her current position.

Seeing this, Gwen's sense of time resumed, as she blurred from her position with a soft "Crack", the concrete beneath her feet getting crushed from the sheer speed she had moved. Without hesitation, Gwen reappeared by Desaad's side, and before the man could even fight back, his head went flying. His body instantly being teleported off, as she rotated out of the way as the Omege Beams passed by her.

A growl of anger escaped Darkseid's lips, as she blurred to Granny Goodness, who was only a few feet away. The woman attempted to block her incoming attack, but couldn't, as Gwen's hand swiped across her throat, cutting cleanly through both it, and her weapon. Within a couple of seconds, both of Darkseid's remaining elites were now corpses lying in the basement of Lexcorp for future use. Neither had the reaction time or speeds to react to someone like Gwen, for both of them were massively weaker than their comics counterparts. Had they been at the same level, Gwen doubted she'd have been able to kill them even

remotely as easily.

Popping away with a short teleport, Gwen grinned as the omega beams slammed against the ground, dissipating as Darkseid scowled.

"Weaklings, all of them. But you...you are impressive. Had this situation been different, you

would have been a perfect wife to bare my children" Darkseid said, angry, but also slightly impressed with the "human".

"What is with you big bads? First Trigon, and now you!" Gwen said, letting out an audible "ew" at the mention of it.

'As nice as that is, I can't really use that right now' Gwen thought, gazing at Darkseid as he

began to slowly march closer.

Seeing this, Gwen breathed in deeply, as her back began to slowly clench. Her back began to change slightly, as her physical strength rapidly began to grow over 25 times, to entirely new levels, as she grinned widely. At the moment, she had tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions of tons of strength filling her body. Courtesy of the demon back she was now activating, and the immense strength given to her by Godzilla.

As Darkseid grew close, his fist beginning to hone in on her, Gwen pulled her right fist back, as

it glowed golden and black, energy pouring through it. Throwing the fist forward, Gwen's

eyes glowed powerfully as she activated one of her other techniques.

*Exploding Heart Release Fist*

And within a second, their fists hit one another, and the surroundings shook.

That's the end of the chapter!

Not sure how well this chapter was made...to be honest. I was initially planning on this

chapter being the battle (a part of it at least) with Darkseid, but I decided to make his battle longer, and giving her and the team a talk with one another. I also did this because I am tired right now, and I don't want to make the battle chapter bad, so I'll opt to make it in two days, in which the quality will be better, as I'll have time to think it over and plan more. Next chapter is going to end up being the first half of the battle, as I was pretty tired while writing that too, and I didn't want to push it off again. But the chapter after that will be 2k words at least, and a lot better, as I'm going to be working on it for multiple days. Sorry about the quality.

Not sure how well I wrote Darkseid, as I haven't really written someone like him, and I know little about his personality, besides him being Arrogant, Cold, and determined. Next chapter will have a lot more combat and fighting. Where Gwen will really start using

some of her abilities, with the Demons back and the OPM fighting style being only the start.

She'll start showing some crazy crazy combinations soon. Anyways, have a good day!
