Chapter 63 Trust.
They stared at each other without making a move. Tension spread across the room and created a tense atmosphere.
Hitori stared at Reon with both of his hands held near his head, "Reon-san," he said, "calm down," he pulled his head down and then looked back up.
Hitori was currently unequipped. When he jumped through the hole he had put his wand back into the leather case and used his hands to seal the entrance.
"You can not kill me with a bullet… or two."
Hitori wanted Reon to realize that two bullets would only bring down his health and by the time she would shoot the third bullet, Hitori would have already launched his counterattack.
As soon as Hitori said that, he watched as Reon's hair, eyes, and the gun started to glow.
"Seriously?" he scoffed and looked down. But she did not fire yet, so Hitori decided to take a step forward.
"I will seriously shoot you, bastard." Reon finally said something.
"Bastard? What have I done?" Hitori took another step.
"You know exactly what you have done or else you would not have raised your hands."
"Anyone would raise their hands if a gun is pointed at them by a friend," Hitori replied.
"I thought… you had left," Reon grunted in anger.
"Only to come back with the–"
"Shut up." Reon interrupted him, "what is your real plan?" that question surprised Hitori.
He stopped walking. He moved his eyes from Reon to Kamiya who stood with confused and nervous expressions.
"Kami–" Hitori stopped when Reon suddenly slid in front of Kamiya.
"Talk to me," she said.
Hitori frowned. Kamiya's face was totally hidden behind Reon so he moved his eyes back to her.
"Do you think that I am betraying you?" Hitori asked. But to his surprise, Reon shook her head in disagreement.
"You HAVE betrayed us." she corrected his sentence. And Hitori was taken aback by it.
With a solemn expression on his face, Hitori slowly put his foot forward, "see, Reon-san, you have got it all wrong,"
Hitori had to stop once again when Reon tightened her loosened grip on the glowing gun.
Hitori sighed, "why would I betray you?" he asked in an innocent tone.
"Greed." Reon quickly replied, "because you want to take everything from us for your own." Hitori was left speechless because of her accusation.
Hitori clicked his tongue, "please understand. We need each other!" he lifted his foot and placed it forward when he got a green signal from Reon.
Hitori stepped closer, "I can not win this on my own," Hitori answered, "and you two can not win this on your own either,"
Reon said nothing, "it makes no sense for me to betray you while we are about to face a huge battle," Hitori referred to the battle proposed by Kuzu.
To him, Reon seemed convinced. Well, she indeed was. The bright glow of her limit breaker dimmed and disappeared. Hitori had walked closer to her without Reon realizing it.
"Yeah, calm down, it is just a misunderstanding–"
Suddenly, before Hitori could complete, a shrill high-pitched scream startled everyone, "Bree-Yark!!" it sounded something like that, "Bree-Yark!" the goblins in the first room started to shout.
In the blink of the moment, Reon raised her gun at Hitori. He panicked and acted on his instincts.
From the left side of his waist, Hitori grabbed his katana in reverse grip and pulled it horizontally out.
Blood sprayed over his face, and a fountain of blood sprayed out from Reon's wrist.
With a quick swing, Hitori had cut Reon's hand from the wrist and blood had started flowing like a water fountain.
Reon glanced down at her wrist and let out a scream. Kamiya's eyes went wide at the sight.
Reen dropped to the ground. Her left hand held her right wrist in pain as she screamed non-stop.
"Do not make a fuss about it," Hitori took a step back, "it does not hurt." he declared as he looked down at Reon.
"Bakuhatsu!" Hitori got the same feeling he got when Kiku had used this spell on her but only, her attack hurt a little more than this.
Hitori flew off the ground and crashed against the wall, "it does, dumbfuck! It does!" Kamiya pulled down his wand and leaned down to Reon.
It was true, Hitori could feel the pain, "b- but… we are in a game." Reon's screams calmed down.
Kamiya used Iyashi to heal her cut hand. Kamiya had panicked too but this time he had his senses in place to know what shall be done.
In the middle of the healing process, Kamiya looked at Hitori, "no, Hitori… believe me, sometimes, we feel real pain in the game,"
Hitori struggled to get up from the ground but when he leaned against the wall, he could hear the sizzling sound of goblin acid falling on the goblins inside.
"W- how is it possible?" Hitori asked. He took a look at Reon who had stopped screaming but had a painful frown on her face.
"I do not know if you have betrayed us or were planning on doing so or not, in fact, I do not want to know," Kamiya got up from the floor and pointed his wand down at Hitori, "but you should think twice before cutting someone's hand."
Hitori groaned, 'W… what are we doing?' he thought.
Hitori pushed against the floor, for the first time, he had to struggle to get up in the game.
Hitori's health had gone down to the bottom of the yellow part, it was on the verge of turning into the red but fortunately, Kamiya had stopped his attacks.
Kamiya whispered, "I…" he shook his head, "I do not want to let go of such an excellent partner," Kamiya turned around, "please tell me everything was a misunderstanding."
He did not stand there to hear Hitori's reply. Kamiya hurried up to Reon and held her right forearm in his hands, "it has recovered, Reon-san."
Hitori lifted his eye and glanced at Kamiya from the corner of his eye.
"The sudden change in your character… is sometimes scary," he chuckled and then groaned in pain.
