Chapter 78: Beyond Mortal
Chapter 78: Beyond Mortal
The black sun had shrunk to half its initial size, it almost implode on itself which was very dangerous, everyone could see it as it was flying in the air.
It looked like a black hole that eats the light, heat it radiates was rising higher and higher, Sol could feel that the flaming bird was not bluffing.
"Fuck! Is that thing retarded? I'm here to talk and it's trying to fight to the death, it even tries to suicide, what is wrong with it?" Sol complained silently as he conjures a dozen ice crystals around him.
It was the highest number of crystals he could conjure at the same time, he had tried to conjure more but he just can't make more.
The flaming bird didn't actually try to suicide, its power centered around eternal fire, as long as a flame remains, its body could be reformed after the explosion.
The power boost it got was an ability similar to limit break, it could get more power in exchange for getting into a berserk and long period of weakness after the usage.
It was trying to hold back in this ability to retain some sanity during the fight, but when it reaches the ability duration's limit, it decides to go all the way and beyond with the ability.
Its decision was influenced by the ability, it was fully in control then it would have stopped fighting and decide to talk things out with Sol.
It had almost imploded when Sol threw all dozen ice crystals at it, they were melting on the fly but he kept feeding them with power to kept them from melting.
Normally the ice would have melted at that point but Sol didn't make it normally, he conjure them with the healing dome of his heart Medalion core as a supporting element.
He tried to do it sneakily, Sol used it because the flaming bird already got out of his ability with only one core, but he wanted to keep the other core a secret so he used them as a supporting element for the ice crystal.
The healing dome helped in isolating the heat, while it was not able to block it entirely, it keeps it under control so the ice crystal could absorb the heat without being melted by it.
Sol didn't use the dome full power as it would be too obvious, he only uses a part of it so others would not notice the difference.
When the dozen ice crystal come in contact with the black sun, Sol channel even more energy in them, resulting them to bloom.
By combining two types of conjuring ability, Sol was able to increase the maximum energy density that the ice could handle, as result, the ice crystal got stronger and more resilient to heat.
Ice crystals that were coming into contact with the black sun sink into it while they bloom bigger, as result the black sun was wrapped by a thin line of ice.
It didn't take long before the black sun was covered in ice, the heat that it was radiating was blocked and absorbed by the ice layer.
The layer grew thicker as it absorbs more heat from the sun, the layer was feeding on heat to form more ice, it might sound illogical but magic was never logical.
The black sun gets smaller and smaller as it compresses itself but the sun was actually losing the pressure it builds up, the energy it gathers from compression was absorbed by the ice layer around it.
It was quite straining for Sol to use two core on one conjuring, keeping them from disintegrating was also taxing for his mind but he didn't stop, he knew that if he let the chance go, the compression he took would be regenerated again.
"Fuck this shit!" Sol screamed as he pours even more power into the ice dome crystal.
The black sun had turned into an ice sun it no longer absorbs light so the sky becomes brighter again, it looked strange to find an ice sun flying in the sky.
People who were running to safety stopped on their track as they looked up, the sky was bright and the black sun was nowhere to be found.
"It stopped? There won't be a supernova exploding in the city?" a man looked at the ice sun in awe.
"Did the heir killer stopped it? I thought he was losing" another person chimes in.
"of course he stopped it, I saw it, the black sun was about to implode but he just sent a few ice crystals at it and easily frozen the black sun" a man who was watching the fight without turning informed them.
People didn't know that Sol was struggling to keep the black sun under control as all they see was he stand there and sent a few projectiles toward the sun and within seconds it froze over.
The reality was not as easy, he needs to use his all to keep his ice from melting it become a contest of power who can extinguish others power.
While Sol has an ability like the firebird, his limit break was more about physical attributes, I got nothing to do with his conjuring ability.
The limit break was the most compatible to use with sharpness and swiftness aura, sharpness and swiftness was also a conjuring ability but it was conjuring aura rather than material.
Both limit break and sharpness and quickness enhance his physical ability and close combat ability, the work great in melee fight but of no use in his current condition.
With his all, Sol force the ice to absorb more heat in exchange for its mass, the ice had grown big enough to be melted a bit.
With that last bit of push, the ice sun falls from the sky in a boom at the ground, it cracked the ice from its own weight.
"Wait? Did I kill it?" Sol looked worriedly at the frozen sun on the ground.
Sol had come in peace, he didn't mean to kill the leader of the city, even though the flaming bird was hostile, killing it was against his purpose in the first place.
People who were looking at the final moment got stunned at the flaming bird's fall, they thought it would not fight back more.
"the heir killer must be a God!" a man shouts in excitement.
"Nah, I doubt that, he might be a Demigod, I don't believe a human can be a God that easily," another one said.
"anyway, he is so strong it's beyond what mortal can do!" the first one replied.
"Yeah, did you see him shooting ice that he created out of nowhere?" another one join in.
"what are you guys excited about? Do you think he will be better than that freaking bird? Did you forget about his reputation?" someone cut in on the conversation.
"it's fine, he only has things for creatures" the first man replied again.
Sol was walking to the wreckage of the frozen sun when he heard them talking, he could not help but grimace, "Damn it! I didn't do anything, not even a day pass and people already spreading rumors here" he lamented.
His power was beyond what people know as normal, even heirs could not create something from nothing, and not everyone knows about Demigods and their power.
It became the catalyst in spreading his infamy, power attracts attention and it made him popular but his track record didn't help in keeping his reputation stellar.
Sol shook his head as he continues his walk toward the frozen sun, the ice becomes like a case that he could not see what is inside, but from his sense, he could feel that the Demigod was still alive.
He arrived at the wreckage of the frozen sun, he could see a crack on it from top to bottom, it was almost split in two.
"let's see how is the rude bird doing," Sol muttered to himself.
Sol holds his knife in his right hand while using his left hand to push at the ice sun to pone it incases the bird decide to ambush him.
To his surprise, the ice was so heavy that it didn't move from his left-hand push, he tried again but it still stuck there.
"Why is this thing so heavy?" he complained as he sheath his knife and tried to push it with both hands.
The result was the same, even with his all, Sol could not move the giant ice, it was way heavier than a block of ice was supposed to be.
In frustration, Sol pulled out his knife and start to slash at the frozen sun, it didn't take him long to crave a huge chunk out of it, he tried to move the chunk but he needed both hands to do so.
After a few times repeating the chores, Sol finally opened a hole at the frozen sun, it was small but enough for him to see what was inside.
"What the fuck!?" he said in shock.
