Rise of the Crusader

Chapter 40

Chapter 40: It’s Time To Go

The alley is one of the famous areas in the academy.

It wasn’t some narrow street or passageway, instead, the alley was incredibly massive. The alley was similar to the training ground of the seven divisions, but unlike the others, the alley could be used by all the students, regardless of the division they belonged to.

“I’m going to train over there!” A second after Camille and the others arrived at the alley, Camille’s voice rang out. And without any delay, she moved forward.

Aiden, Devon, and Bane stared at Camille, and they couldn’t help but shake their head at her. “I usually wonder what goes on in her head because her power is simply just insane...” It was Aiden that spoke.

“You speak as though it is a bad thing, she can raise the dead... That seems cool to me. If any of her loved ones die, she simply as to use her power and she would be able to bring them back.”

“What!!!!” Bane exclaimed, seeing how Devon and Aiden were staring at him after he spoke.

Devon shook his head before then saying, “Dumbass! I don’t think anyone would be really glad to possess that sort of power. Of course, except if the person is a psychopath or perhaps if the person is looking to recreate the world.”

.....

“In Camille’s own world, it’s either to be hunted or to be the one leading the hunt. While not all necromancers are considered evil, the forces they manipulate are considered taboo by many in societies.”

Bane folded his hand across his chest, “Isn’t that the reason why she put twice the effort into everything she does.”

Staring at Camille, who walked into the burial ground in the alley, the three of them heaved a deep breath. Camille walked towards one of the caskets on the ground, then placed her hand on top of it, closing her eyes.

Camille’s lips began moving, and about a few seconds, the lid of the casket opened, and a skeletal hand appeared out of the casket. It was first the hand, then a few moments later, the body stood from the casket.

After the figure stood from the casket, Camille moved over to the other casket very quickly. She repeated her earlier action and soon walked over to the next casket.

There are over two hundred caskets on the burial ground, corpses belonging to students, and some even teachers. As Camille woke one dead from the casket, she moved over to the next.

“Camille already made her intentions clear, so are we supposed to be worried about that?” Bane asked, staring at Devon and Aiden, who were standing beside him.

“You mean, what she said in the psychology class,” Aiden responded. “That is just one of her goals, according to what I’ve heard from her. Cam’s main focus is to break the shackles of mortality.”

“Her goal is to beat that clock that ticks for everyone.”

Devon’s eyes twitched when he heard Aiden, and as for Bane, he simply raised an eyebrow. The both of them weren’t surprised that Aiden knew about this because Aiden and Camille had become close after that walk to the dormitory.

“Enough with the talk, you should also go get yourself ready.” With that said, and, Aiden jogged forward.

“Wait for me!” Bane exclaimed.

Devon stared at the surrounding, before then heaving a deep breath. “What am I even doing here!” Devon said, scratching his head.

The only reason why he had decided to come to the alley was that everyone said they were coming there. And now he couldn’t help but regret it because he had nothing to do in this place.

Devon began walking around the alley, with his hands placed behind his back. He, however, kept his distance, and only ventured towards where the year-1 students were.

“Whew! Everyone wants to break past their limits” Devon exclaimed, with eyes on his classmates.

While Aiden tried to increase the duration of his portal, Bane was seating on the ground. He had insects moving all over his body, from his upper body to his lower body, and every five minutes, he would spread the insects all over the surrounding, then gather them around.

It wasn’t only Devon, Aiden, Bane, and Camille who were a year-1 elite division that was in the alley, they were about a handful of them.

Melinda could be seen going to head to head with Elisa. Elisa wasn’t making use of her powers, and as for Melinda, she simply didn’t hold anything back.

“Pteew!” Suddenly, Melinda spat a mouthful amount of blood from her mouth, as the moment Elisa saw an opening in her body, she didn’t think twice, and immediately struck that area.

Wiping the blood which was oozing out of her mouth, a smile appeared on Melinda’s face. “I’m going to get you next time!” Melinda exclaimed, then dashing towards Elisa.

“Becky now!!!”

The instant Melinda’s loud voice rang out, a huge dragon appeared in the alley. The dragon’s eyes were, however, fixed on Elisa, and after a second, it opened its mouth and seemed to be about to spew out flames, when Elisa disappeared.

BANG!

In less than a second after that sound rang out, and the dragon vanished. “Y-You...” Melinda, who was close to the dragon, stuttered. She then pointed her hand at Elisa, who was holding onto the now unconscious Becky.

Elisa flashed a smile at Melinda, before saying, “Did you think I wouldn’t realize it? You are going to have to do better than that if the both of you want to defeat me.” Elisa said.

While Elisa’s powers made her a force not to be reckoned with, that was merely a tip of what Elisa was capable of. Elisa’s true beauty came in her proficiency in hand-to-hand combat. Her combination of strikes and counters in a physical confrontation at close range was top-notch.

It earned her the nickname the unarmed combatant queen in the academy.

“With moves like that, I don’t think anyone would want to fight over a man with you.” Suddenly, Alice appeared.

Alice had a smile on her face, and her hands were folded across her chest, as she spoke.

A stern look, however, appeared on Elisa’s face when she heard Alice. Elisa turned towards Melinda only to see her also smiling. “Sigh... Are we here to talk about Raphael or to train!” Elisa exclaimed.

“Raphael?” Alice paused, “How do you know it is Raphael, I was talking about.”

“Hahahahahahaha!!!”

Devon, who was watching the girls from afar, placed his hand on his chin. He wasn’t able to hear their words very clearly, but he heard Raphael being mentioned, as Alice had raised her voice.

“Lucky Raphael. It hasn’t even been a month, and he has all the girls talking about him...” Devon then raised his head to the sky, “God am I yam, why don’t you make this also happen to me.”

“Even if it’s one, I really don’t mind!” Devon said.

A few seconds after Devon spoke, and a dark spiraling portal appeared beside him. “Did I just hear God? I thought you don’t believe in God?” It was Aiden.

Aiden had heard Devon’s voice from where he was, and the words Devon spoke were so startling that Aiden had to leave what he was doing, and appear beside him.

“I still don’t believe in God!” Devon responded.

“Then what were y-you...” Before Aiden could get the rest of the words out of his mouth, Devon walked past him. Aiden chose not to chase after Devon because when it came to something like this, Devon was usually cold.

With his hands placed behind his back once again, Devon continued to stare at his other classmates. Sean, who was running around the field, throwing lightning at the two twins, and Xavier, who covered himself in his own flames.

While Jackson was engaging in a battle with Mason.

The students continued to train in the alley for a very long time, and they only took breaks after every two hours. Some even went three hours without going for a break, but when small stars with twinkling lights began to appear, the students began moving out of the alley.

.....

A few hours later, and each student from the year-1 elite division received a message from their wristwatch.

“It’s time to go!” Raphael cracked his knuckles, as he left the construction table. Staring at the clothes which were placed on the bed, a smile couldn’t help but appear on Raphael’s face.

On the bed was a black trench coat with gold buttons, a black plain top, black pants, a pair of black gloves, and black shoes.

Raphael glanced at Gus, who was on its perch, and then threw the owl the cape, he had just finished working on. “I can’t think of a reason why you would want a cape!” Raphael said as Gus caught the cape.

“Raphael, hurry up! Everyone is waiting for you.”
