Chapter 35
Chapter 35: Preparation
A few hours had passed since the student council handed the year one elite division their first mission. And with only three days remaining before they moved out, the students were getting themselves prepared.
Each one of them had sent over the description of their costumes to the administration block, and after a long group chat message, they all decided to meet in the classroom.
Raphael stood with his hands placed inside his pocket staring at the tables, likewise the other students in the classroom.
After the session, everyone had changed their clothes, some were putting on the academy uniform, while a few of them were putting on casual clothes. Raphael, Aiden, and Bane were among the students donned in casual outfits, while Devon stuck with the academy uniform.
“It is simple.”
“I say we go for the head of the Bass family first, Clayton Bass. We sneak into the mansion, get rid of Clayton, the strongest metahuman in the mansion, and the rest would follow as well.” Ethan said, pointing his hand at the paper on the table.
On the table was a blueprint paper of a house plan. The student’s eyes were all glued to the paper, however, when they all heard Levi’s word, a majority of them shook their heads.
.....
“That’s ridiculous! According to the information which was provided, Clayton is a B-rank metahuman, and his power rank is said to be between 40,000 to 45,000.”
“Supposedly, if we can go head-to-head with Clayton, are we confident of being able to take him out without creating any noise. I highly doubt that is possible! There are also other members and guards in the mansion, and if they are to get a wind of It, it would become really dire for us.”
Alice said, staring at the students in the classroom. They had all discussed how to handle the Bass mansion in the group chat, and when a reasonable plan couldn’t be formulated, they decided to come to settle it in the classroom.
“Alice is right!” Becky stated. “The Bass family outways us in numbers, getting into that sort of battle with them is something we should avoid.”
The students nodded their heads when they heard Becky, as it was indeed true, that getting into a confrontation with the Bass family in that manner would do more harm than good.
“Devon, what do you suggest? You are the one with enhanced intelligence after all!!” Levi said in a spiteful voice.
After Levi spoke, everyone had eyes on Devon, who lowered his head right away. Aiden, who was standing beside Devon, chuckled, he then handed Devon, the glass cup he was holding onto.
A different kind of glow appeared on Devon’s face when he saw the glass cup and without wasting any time, he took the cup and gulped the content in it straight down.
Devon’s eyes twitched for a moment, he glared at the blueprint paper on the paper, before then saying, “The Bass mansion is 8,000 square meters, there are two master suites, six bedrooms, two study rooms, and a couple of other rooms.”
“In total, there are twenty-five rooms in the mansion.”
After taking the glass of wine, Devon seemed to have become a different person entirely, and as he spoke, he pointed his hand at the blueprint paper. “Over a hundred guards are stationed outside of the mansion, while inside the mansion, the numbers even doubled.”
“There are also a couple of cameras, drones, inferred sensors, and motion detectors which are inserted both in and outside of the mansion. The Bass family burned a lot of resources into making sure their house security was top-notch.” Devon exclaimed.
“If we want to ensure a complete takedown of the Bass family in the time we are provided with, I have narrowed the option down into two. We can either divide and conquer, or we assemble them together and conquer.”
Raphael raised an eyebrow as he saw how the usually quiet Devon was in control of the room. The most astounding aspect of it was that as Devon spoke, the students were all quiet, and paid complete attention to what he was saying to them.
“Don’t be shocked!” Aiden muttered, seeing the dazed look which Raphael had on his face. “One of the reasons why the academy can ignore all Devon’s flaws is because of how intelligent Devon is.”
Raphael folded his hand across his chest, as he stared at his roommate. “Even though he is the weakest among all of us, he is still well-respected by the students because of his intellect,” Aiden said.
“Did you add something extra into the drink he took?” Raphael asked.
Aiden shook his head when he heard Raphael, “You know how he can’t talk to attractive women and women who smell nice, well, if he is under the influence of liquor, the story changes.” Aiden replied.
“That’s why I brought this,” Aiden showed Raphael the bottle which was behind him, and then flashed a smile. “I know you must be thinking that why doesn’t he just keep a bottle beside him all the time, but there’s a downside to that, and trust me, you do not want to see it.”
Bane, who was playing with the insect in his hand, nodded his head consecutively when Aiden spoke. “Do you remember what he did to that year-2 student?” Bane giggled.
Aiden busted into laughter. However, his lips were soon sealed when he and Bane received a deathly glare from the other students.
“I really did underestimate you” Raphael mumbled in a low voice.
“What did you say?” Aiden inquired when he saw Raphael’s lips moving. Raphael, however, shook his head, then stared at Devon with his hand placed on his chin.
Devon stood in front of the table, with the blueprint paper facing him, “We are twenty-one, I say we group ourselves into three for this mission, that would make seven groups in total.”
“Is that alright?!” Devon said.
The students shrugged their shoulders, showing that they had no problem whatsoever with it, and Devon continued. “Two groups will handle the outside affairs, while the remaining five will deal with the inside of the mansion.
“The two groups who will be handling the outside affair should be people who can cover the long-distance attacks. Among the six people in the group, I expect at least four, should be able to deal with long-distance attacks.” Devon said decisively.
The students were staring at one another after hearing Devon, but a majority of them had eyes on Dwayne.
“I will join one of the two groups that will handle the long-distance attack,” Dwayne declared.
Devon and a couple of other students nodded their heads when Dwayne spoke. And after a few minutes, the six students who were going to be dealing with the long-range attack were formed.
“Al-Alright then... Hic!” Devon hiccuped loudly, he then flashed a smile, seeing how they stared at him. “The remaining five groups will be focusing on different parts of the room, two groups will focus on the left side, another two should handle the right and the one left will take care of the middle.”
“Remember, we are not to go after Clayton until we have cut all his wings off. The battle will be different from the one against the golem, don’t get me wrong, but I believe a man who can head a family like the Bass is not to be underestimated.”
“But, one thing is certain. The Bass family will not know what hit them and by the time they even realize... Hic! We would have destroyed them all.”
“Hic!”
Devon’s body shook, “Now who wants me on his or her team?!” With a huge smile on his face, Devon inquired.
And it didn’t come as much shock when he was shunned by the students. While Devon was incredibly smart, they weren’t going to play poker or chess inside the Bass mansion, it was going to be bloody, and having a teammate like Devon in there was going to be a liability.
“No one!...” Devon yelled, he then walked around his classmates, giving them the finger, “You know what, fuck you!!!... And you too...” Devon staggered as he moved, but he still ensured that he cursed everyone before he stumbled to the ground.
“Y-You...”
Suddenly, one of the females in the classroom began to tremble violently. Her body was shivering, and so was her hand, “Martha, what is wrong?!!” Melinda exclaimed, holding Martha’s body tightly.
Everyone’s eyes including Raphael immediately went towards the girl who was in Melinda’s hand with a rather confused look on their faces.
Martha’s body continued to jerk uncontrollably as though electric jolts were passing through her mind and body. However, after a few minutes, the trembling stopped, and she returned to her usual state.
As Martha then opened her eyes, the words that left her mouth brought a grim look to appear on the faces of the people in the classroom.
“One of us will die in the Bass mansion!!!!!”
