Chapter 64 Secret
Hunter sighed as he replied, "That's something terrible, but there's no history of true warriors being afraid of death."
"Indeed!" Arthur nodded in agreement. "Therefore, if you don't agree, I will only force you. Not that you matter to me, but I do need some people and I don't want to go around a second time just looking for a group of people!"
BANG!
Arthur kicked Hunter's head right after he spoke. The man was thrown, falling into the rubble.
He was surprised and asked, "what are you doing?"
It was surprising that he could still speak easily and seemed fine getting back on his feet.
"As I said, I will force you," replied Arthur.
"First..." Arthur pointed his hand at him. A root emerged from the hand, moving towards the Hunter and wrapping itself around his body.
Then, he pulled it until Hunter was also pulled.
"You?" The man opened his mouth tremblingly.
Rose thinking Arthur was going to do some kind of torture she frantically said, "wait, stop that!"
Of course, her words didn't affect Arthur, she was still pulling at the root that bound Hunter's body.
In the end, Rose turned her gaze to her brother. "Hunter, don't do nonsense, you better keep your promise."
Hunter was clearly starting to have doubts but at the same time, he was also curious as to how Arthur would handle it, this kept him from responding immediately.
"Wait!" Amanda suddenly changed her expression, she looked up at the northern sky. Suddenly, she saw two large birds moving towards where they were
"Archer, Aleria," she said quietly. She didn't expect them to fly all the way here.
Hearing her words, Rose and the others followed her gaze and immediately became doubtful as the pair of harpies drew closer and closer to them.
While they were wondering what was going on, Arthur threw each end of the root at each of the harpies. Both of them lengthened as he threw them.
The two harpies then picked them up before flying higher once more.
Hunter instantly deduced what he wanted Arthur, he hastily said "no, cut it out, I will fulfill my promise!"
If it was just torture, Hunter thought he could still survive for a while even from a magus. However, being forcefully carried away by a pair of birds, he wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry.
For sure he knew that he would lose all his dignity.
Things would be even more dangerous if someone was watching. Then, there might be rumors that he was a destroyer of the environment and the animals punished him personally.
He still didn't have a conclusion whether Arthur was someone different or just a bad boy, but even if it was the latter, he knew that he was hard to deal with since he could do whatever he wanted while he couldn't do anything due to the difference in their strength.
However, he quickly became confused because even though he had given up, the two birds still carried him away.
He couldn't say much more yet and they sped up their speed, covering the distance in just a few moments.
"Wait, why didn't you let him go?" Rose asked Arthur.
"One can pass death, but not punishment," replied Arthur.
The two harpies didn't fly north, they went east where there was a forest, not too big but not so small, one would think ten times before entering.
What will he experience there? Arthur himself wouldn't know, that would be up to the two harpies.
___
Beneath the Goat Village was a very large basement, filled with many rooms and paths.
In a certain room with dim light, someone was sitting behind a desk.
He was a rather old man, but had fair skin. His body was rather thin, but anyone who looked at him would immediately get the impression that he was quite agile, perhaps very agile in his youth.
In front of him, stood a man in a black suit and cold face.
"Have you got any information on who came to them?" asked the old man.
"Yes, a woman named Amanda, and a young man named Arthur. Unfortunately, we can't find out what really happened, the mercenaries don't allow anyone near. And some people seem to have seen two large harpies passing over the village. They seemed to be carrying someone tied up. No one can deduce who it is because those two harpies are very fast."
"Interesting, really a lot of things happened in such a short time." The old man held his chin.
"Well, then, send them an invite. Tell them we'll put on an interesting show."
"Yes sir!" The man nodded before walking away.
__
Even though the mercenary's house had collapsed, there was still a place remaining, the basement, which could be entered from several different points.
Rose takes Arthur and Amanda there while the others stand guard outside.
The place was quite surprising, filled with various kinds of weapons, and even had lots of bombs that could be detonated from afar.
For Arthur himself, that includes very dangerous.
"Please, sit!" Rose invited Arthur and Amanda to sit on the sofas that were available there. The woman showed a hint of hesitation as she looked at Arthur, perhaps at a loss as to what to call him from now on.
"What do you guys usually do in the Middle East?" Arthur asked after he sat down.
"We do security more often, whether it's goods or people," said Rose.
"That's not something interesting, I want to know something that should be a secret."
"Mm..." Rose hesitated a little hearing that.
"Hello, Rose, he is now your boss, don't play secret, all the secrets you know must be given to your boss," said Amanda.
"It's quite hard to say," Rose replied, she let out a soft sigh.
"Is that some kind of maintaining a war?" asked Arthur.
This is something quite common. In the magic world, he had a friend who in his youth fought against demons but when he caught the demon king, he chose to let him go again because his advisor said that the nobles would no longer need him if the demon king died. In other words, he and his demon slayer squad would be idle.
"That's obvious," Amanda agreed. "After all, they can only live in war, no one hates peace more than them, not to mention those arms dealers."
Rose didn't dispute that, she later replied, "a lot of dirty things were done to keep the war going, one of which of course was to make more people who like to make a mess. However, it really isn't just about business."
"Oh..." Arthur showed an interested expression. What else is something that makes people commit crimes without a grudge factor other than business.
"I'm sure you'd be surprised if you heard about it," Rose continued.
"Say it," Arthur replied.
This time, Rose took a deep breath, she replied, "There is a plan to empty the northern part of the Middle East from the humans."
"..."
