Chapter 182 Lunar Wraith
182 Lunar Wraith
When Xu Feng saw that Carmen seemed to have been enlightened, he was relieved slightly as he planned on leaving.
However, life always takes an unexpected turn when you least expect them to come. "So now you just gave me both your game username and real name. That's not how it works." Xu Feng smiled bitterly.
Suddenly, he paused for a moment and turned to Carmen. "What did you say your in-game username was, Carmen?" "But you just said that's not how it works," Carmen responded, feeling confused by the player in front of her. Was he trying to help her or trick her?
It was hard for her to determine the situation, given that she felt no malicious intent from him. Otherwise, she wouldn't have even bothered interacting with him any longer. "You already said it once to me, so it's too late for that anyway." Xu Feng hurriedly brushed the matter off and asked her to repeat her username again.
"A-Alright then." Carmen muttered softly before repeating her username, "It's Lunar Wraith." THUD!
Xu Feng remained still, almost as if he was paralyzed from a thunderstrike or something similar. 'Lunar Wraith— that demoness summoner expert that struck fear in multiple Super Guilds. She's that Lunar Wraith?' Xu Feng exclaimed inwardly in shock.
It was the first time he had been so thoroughly shocked and stunned. What made it more astonishing was the fact that he met Lunar Wraith in Riverwood Town. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
According to an interview that she had done in his past timeline, she started off in another place far from his region. Yet here she was in the flesh, in front of him, but not as the demoness that frightened everyone, but as a timid woman who got scared easily.
This kind of contrast was too huge.
'Right, the interview did mention Lunar Wraith's real name as Carmen, but who would care about that when she was talking about how she fought many experts in detail?' "Is there something wrong with my username?" Carmen asked nervously, her hands fidgeting a bit. "Oh no, there's nothing wrong." Xu Feng chuckled softly and waved his hands, "I'm Lin Feng, and most of my friends just call me Feng."
"So Lin Feng?"
"Just Feng is enough." "F-Feng…" Carmen nodded her head.
"Anyway, let's head upstairs to continue our talk, Carmen." Xu Feng suggested. "In the meantime, we can add each other as friends and see if I can help you with your matters. Not to brag, but I'm quite the expert." Although he didn't want to sound desperate, it was difficult to conceal his excitement.
Just the mere possibility of roping in a bona fide expert into his side was exhilarating, to say the least.
Who doesn't want an expert in their guild?
Only an idiot or a big buffoon would kick out a future expert that could overturn the sky and sea for them! Poor Carmen didn't suspect anything and agreed after a few seconds. As they ascended the stairs and took their seat at a table, Xu Feng asked softly, "Is there any food you like to eat? I doubt you have any proper rest since you were busy trying to hire a mercenary." Carmen, however, shook her head in response. Xu Feng raised an eyebrow in surprise. He then questioned, "You're not hungry?"
"I-It's not that… I just don't have enough money to buy the food." Carmen smiled embarrassingly, clearly remembering the earlier scolding she got from the mercenary. Since she had just started the Divine World, the only money she had was the initial 10 copper coins. She didn't even know how to earn money, given most of the NPC she interacted with refused or didn't have any quests for her to do. As for hunting monsters in the wild, she had an even worse fate. She was inexperienced and was not used to the monster being very clever and aggressive when provoked. In the end, she died 3 times trying to kill a lower monster before giving up.
"I'm a summoner but I don't know how to use the skills properly. Originally, I got some invitations to teams and guilds, but most of them weren't filled with good intentions so I rejected a lot. As for the few that I didn't… they kicked me out after learning of my terrible game sense and coordination." Carmen softly explained her predicament, not knowing why she even did it in the first place. Normally, she was conserved and somewhat wary, especially those she could sense had bad intentions toward her.
One could call it a woman's intuition or sixth sense. "It's indeed difficult to find a suitable team or guild here." Xu Feng smiled amicably and continued, "Either way, I'm the one who said to come here, so it's a given that it would be my treat. Feel free to order whichever food is to your liking." Instead of feeling excited, Carmen held a wary expression. "Why are you treating me so nice when we just met?" She asked suspiciously. "Let's just say you reminded me of a little sister I once had in the orphanage." Xu Feng responded, flat out lying with a straight face. Little sister?
Oh please, when he was at the orphanage, he was a loner with no one to interact with. Hell, he had to work everything for himself to get to where he was. "You won't ask me to repay you back?" Carmen asked warily, but her drool already betrayed her true thought. "Do you want me to draft a contract?" Xu Feng teased and was ready to draft one for her. "N-No need," Carmen hurriedly shook her head and proceeded to choose the food that she wanted to eat. Unsurprisingly, she chose some dessert and light meal on the menu, costing no less than 7 copper coins. This kind of price was naturally nothing to Xu Feng, but for someone with only a total savings of 10 copper coins, it was a lot.
'Oh dearest Carmen, how could I make you repay me for the meal. You are my greatest treasure currently.' Xu Feng smiled and proceeded to order the food on their behalf.
