Chapter 29: On Equal Terms
**********
"Ahmmm... Sir Eclipse, just what in the world are we doing in here?"
She mumbled at the young man's side while not looking away from the person in front of them, in case something unfortunate happened.
Rheina didn't know if she would just slit her throat and let her body just rot in hell or something and if someone asked about her opinion then, she much prefer to have died on a mission at least it's her honor to die while fulfilling the mission that she assigned for herself.
However, she wouldn't accept if she would die like this.
'I don't know what this young man's thinking but since I have given my complete trust and cooperation with him, I supposed that I should just wait for what he was planning then.'
......
.........
............
"Phew! I almost got caught by one of the knights who were stationed in this place and thankfully, no one managed to spot me or even followed me here. Also, why the heck are we even in a place like this?!"
An anonymous letter was presented on her table inside her room as she got back from her room after she finished her duties. At first, she became wary because if the letter came from her organization, the communication style wouldn't be written in a single letter.
Despite her wariness, she took the letter and took a good look at it. She saw the initial "E" on the lower right corner of the letter and that she concluded it came from none other than the Third Young Master.
The letter contained the information about where they were going to meet and after that, she prepared herself as she made sure that no one would notice her gone since she already had done her job for today.
"This is the only place that most people wouldn't dare to venture because of how hunted this place looks like. Of course, there were still knights that are stationed here for guarding but only a few though so no need to worry about it."
Rheina: "..."
'You sure know your stuff, ha?'
"We should get going before anyone could notice us."
Rheina; "Wait a minute. Where are we going anyway? You didn't tell me anything about the plan?"
The young master halted on his steps and looked at her with his most deadpan expression; "No need to worry about it. You'll know if we got there so be ready."
Before she could protest, the young master continued to walk away, and she almost groaned in annoyance because of the young man's reckless behavior but she didn't have a choice but to comply as she followed him and both of them disappeared within those premises.
................
"Where are we exactly? This place feels like some sort of ancestral tomb to me because of all these cobwebs all over the place!"
Rheina didn't know the place they were, but she could tell they were still within the Chevalier territory, technically within the main household but from the looks of it, the path they were going seemed like a hidden manor or something.
"Are you sure about the path we are walking into?! Because for me, as an experienced assassin myself, I had a bad feeling about this place and besides, the whole place creeps me out!"
She might be an assassin and never feared anything in her life but one thing she feared the most and those are entities like ghosts and the undead!
Though she will never admit to everyone that she feared those creatures and she didn't want her reputation as the Lotus Killer would have this kind of dark history to be known by everyone!
'I'd rather die than let everyone know about this!'
Eclipse, on the other hand, sighed as he looked behind his back with a deadpan expression; "What's with you today? Don't tell me, you're on your girl's month? Sorry to say this but I don't have any ladies' kit with me if that's what you're going to ask me later on."
Upon hearing the third young master's blunt statement, Rheina snapped from her thoughts and felt her face heat up in embarrassment as her trembling hands pointed at the young man's shameless words.
"Y-you―!"
However, before she could refute back, Eclipse snorted back as he raised an eyebrow at her; "What do you mean, "you"? All the women that I have met before would have a similar attitude to yours so it's natural for me to conclude that you're on your period months. Why are you being so shy about it?"
'This is why I hate dealing with these kinds of women whenever they were on their unreasonable period problems! They think of themselves too highly for their own gain!'
Well, technically speaking, Eclipse had met countless women in his life as a world-hopper and had faced these kinds of problems over and over again.
He wasn't that ignorant about women and their common stuff like periods, wrinkles, and others that would be considered as women's stuff so figuring out about the assassin's unusual behavior isn't a trivial matter for him.
However, from the perspective of a woman, talking about their usual stuff or something is a great offense for them, especially if they were talking about this to a man such as Eclipse himself.
Also, dealing with their unreasonable tantrums were the ones he hated the most because those women felt entitled to themselves and that someone would take care of them whenever they had their bad days or something.
'It's better to be blunt than to be flustered like how he did back then.'
Just remembering those days as a novice world-hopper and how he sometimes would fall victim to those kinds of schemes back then, he detested those kinds of women.
Of course, there were some he considered tolerable to be acquainted with at least and less annoying though but often during his world-hopping journey, he was always met with either the vicious or the two-faced women type in all his journey.
"You have no tact when talking to a woman, aren't you?!"
Eclipse snapped from his thoughts when he heard the woman's outburst because of his statement earlier and he could tell where this conversation leads into.
'Argh! Really? Do I have to deal with these trivial things now?! I have more important matters to settle with than to argue with some petty conversation of women stuff!'
Eclipse glared back at her; "Now what? Are we going to argue about this trivial matter? You and I have more pressing matters that need to be done first and if you think this conversation is much more important than your little sibling's life then, be my guest."
After that, he didn't wait for her reply as he walked towards the place where he remembered according to the information provided for him, not from his system archive but from a reliable source from this world.
'It's a good thing that there is something that I had bargained with before [that person] shared its intel.'
Since both Eclipse and [that person] came on equal terms with each other, it's only natural for the world-hopper to claim his rewards though.
"Let's get going then."
