Chapter 2366: Plotting
Chapter 2366: Plotting
In one of the breaks, while Sam is off to pick on his next prey, one of the team members who joined along with Drik, left the formation.
After travelling for a certain distance and confirming that there is no one else following him, he took out a token to find Yagrit's position.
Yagrit who was vigilant to every movement around her, noticed his approach but only felt relieved when she actually saw him.
"What is the status there? What the heck is he doing?" she asked him eagerly. She has been waiting for him for a long time. He is one of the reasons that she was able to gather enough to courage to reject Sam's proposal.
Because she knew he will enter his team and get the required valuable information.
"Sam is claiming that he figured out the exit strategy for this pocket dimension. He knows how to destroy the black skeletons and he has succeeded in destroying a lot. Once all the skeletons are destroyed, he believes that a gateway will open up to leave this place."
"Are you sure it is trustworthy? How can he be sure?" She asked.
The young man shrugged and said.
"Young mistress, even I believe that his theory holds some salt. Its just basic pocket dimension common sense. For most of the pocket dimensions, the default condition is to clear the obstacles or enemies inside.
If you think back, that is the most common type of pocket dimension across all the regions of the academy realm.
You go in, kill everything and you are out. This makes sense. We just didn't consider this from the start because we were unable to kill these things."
"So, I will be out of here after he kills all these creatures?"
"Technically, you should be."
"So, that is why that bastard is hunting down all the people that didn't sign the contract with him. He has killed more than twenty people already."
The young man frowned and said.
"Then it would only be a matter of time before he comes at you."
"I know. That is why I need your help. We need to stop Sam before he comes after my throat." "It is easier said than done."
"Why? I read the contract. It clearly stated that you guys cannot kill him or harm him after you leave this pocket dimension. Nothing has been mentioned about killing him within.
All we need to do is convince some other people in the team and attack Sam at the right time. He will be done for.
I am sure, everyone else will agree. After all, the contract is way too much of a price weighing on them. If not for the fact their lives are on the line, no one would be willing to pay such price."
"Once again, it is easier said than done.
Until now, except for Sam, no one knows how to destroy a black skeleton. Even though we destroyed more than couple of dozen of them, none of us managed to figure out what the trick
is.
He always landed the final blow or directed Rashma to land it.
Every time, it was random and he always focused on a particular location with a concentrated attack. He even specifically said that we should not attack a black skeleton in its final stages as soon as he alerts us.
I am sure everyone in that formation is trying to figure out why Sam's method is working and how to replicate it. But I am also sure no one managed to figure it out."
Yagrit pursed her lips.
She is unable to swallow this exasperation. At first, she never really cared for Sam or all the hatred that he attracted to himself. She just accounted it all for some larger political play. But now she understood why he is so hateful.
Usually, if someone is in Sam's position, they would know when to step back.
They would never dare to ask such a price like Sam did. Because they cannot be sure if they would ever be in a position to take instead of the position to give in the future. They will also use this chance to make other owe favor instead of material gains.
But he is complete opposite.
He even dared to leave out any clause that offers him protection inside the pocket dimension. It is as if he is sure that no one would dare to attack him here. He is only flaunting his situational invincibility.
That is the most hateful person if she ever met one.
"Then how do you propose, we move forward from here?"
"I have some suggestions. One is that we figure out how the black skeletons can be destroyed. We will let Sam deal with as many as possible all the while looking for his weak moment.
Once we figure it out, we can kill him and proceed with the rest of the plan like this.
The second option is that I will broker a deal with him. I know that you cannot afford to give out your share and resources. But I don't have any qualms like that. I don't own any property. If I accept the pledge of servitude, then everything that should have belonged to me will be belong to my master. So, technically he won't get anything.
I can just talk to him about the deal now. I will say I will offer the remaining two-thirds to him in exchange for your life.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Once we are out of this place, I will immediately take the pledge.
He will definitely be fooled."
Yagrit looked at the young man in disbelief. The pledge of servitude is not a small thing. It is a practice among the households that are believed to be the direct descendants of gods. Households like the Telchines.
It is also a different type of soul contract. Once taken, they will not be able to do anything against their master's wishes. Even when they are cultivating, a part of the results will be transferred to their master.
If the master is not near, the energy will accumulate within the body waiting to be transferred. If the accumulated energy increases to a certain threshold, then the servant will die of energy explosion.
They cannot access that energy to expel it. At least, not most of them. Only a select few ever managed to achieve that feat.
This guy just decided to sign off his life for her sake. For a moment, all the tension was gone and a faint blush appeared on her face.
Of course, she brushed it off and soon the cold thinking her father instilled in her has made its
way out.
