Chapter 28: Forever Alone
Chapter 28: Forever Alone
Thea was a bit surprised by its status, it was much higher level than herself and although it had lower defense, she wasn't sure how to fight against it with her low attack stat.
She was then interested in its skills, just as she was about to open the skill tabs, she saw the bear rushing towards her. Slightly intimidated by its size, she quickly jumped up to a nearby branch. The bear didn't need to long to think about what to do as it started climbing the tree.
It was a bit funny to watch as the bear with its 4 arms and 2 legs climbed the tree like a caterpillar. Thea simply jumped to another tree nearby and started thinking about how to deal with the bear. She jumped around for a bit, avoiding the now angry bear, before hypothesizing a strategy she wanted to try.
Thea jumped to another tree before she activated a skill she hadn't tried yet. As she activated [Death Aura (LVL.MAX)] a thick black aura surfaced from her body, she didn't feel anything but knew exactly what it did.
From a distance away Lily was watching, when she saw this aura, she felt a shiver in her spine. She had been the strongest in Duca for a long time and was unparalleled, always coming victorious out of many situations. This strength had given her a lot of confidence, this aura however, felt dangerous, her instinct were warning her about this, scaring her slightly.
Thea, oblivious was now playing with her aura, it was so thick if felt like she was playing with water she had full control over. When it covered her face she didn't feel like she was suffocating either, which was strange with how thick it was, it did remove her vision so she didn't like it that much.
The bear had stopped chasing her meanwhile, scared just like Lily, but much, much more it started to run.
Thea noticed this and realized it was scared of what she was playing with. Having just recently blocked her own vision with the black goop, she thought she could use it for the same function on the bear.
Thea sent her large, body sized blob of goop flying towards the bear, the bear, feeling the incoming death, started yelping, panicking, deathly afraid it ran full speed away. But it was no use, Thea was a little slower, her blob however was faster and it engulfed the bears head. The bear having its vision removed ran into a tree and slumped down.
Thea caught up and got her tentacles ready to pierce its eyes, standing in front of the bear now, she deactivated the blob revealing death underneath. The bears face, skin and tissue had started to melt away, leaving only a thick dripping goop of flesh and bones behind.
Absolutely appalled by the sight, Thea looked away, before she felt her hearty breakfast come up again.
While Thea was throwing up by a nearby tree, two hands parted the hanging hair from her face, still having her map open she wasn't surprised as she knew her mother had come to help her.
"It wasn't what you expected right?" Lily said caringly.
Having no more breakfast to get rid of, Thea weakly stood up straight and activated her cleaning aura on herself.
"I thought it would just remove it's sight, when it was on me, I didn't even feel anything!" Thea almost screamed, slightly afraid of her own skill.
Lily seeing how Thea reacted hugged her before saying
"Well dear that was really reckless of you, to try it on yourself." She said worryingly before she continued, "All skills can be used against their own user, I don't know how you turn it on or off but usually a skill like that destroys the being that has it. That is why I was unprepared and froze instead of telling you not to use it. I'm guessing you can use it because your infinite defense negates its effects." Lily said but didn't sound too sure.
Thea hearing this paled realizing if she hadn't maxed the skill and if she didn't have infinite defense, her life could have been ruined. If it wasn't max, she would need to be forever alone in the situation she could even be born without her mother dying. If her defense wasn't max even if she did max the skill, she herself would die.
"Can this skill hurt you?" Thea asked worryingly at her mother.
Her mother didn't answer but shortly later nodded.
Thea blessing her 1 luck stat and started uncontrollably crying as a mixture of relief and fear overwhelmed her. If the system hadn't locked her skill, she would never have had the life she lived up till now.
Out of control of her emotions, Thea passed out crying. Her mother still slightly shook by the recent happenings, carried Thea back home leaving the bear corpse in the woods. When she got home, she put Thea in their bed and went back to the couch, and started thinking about everything she observed, so she could give some feedback to Thea tomorrow.
