My OP Minion System in the Apocalypse

Chapter 303 Dark Future

I dragged myself out of the warm bed and stumbled over to the mirror. My reflection looked back at me with dark, sunken eyes that betrayed the fact that I hadn't slept in days. The sweat on my forehead made my hair stick to my face, and I felt like I had just emerged from a damp prison cell after being forced to work without rest.

The dream, which wasn't even a true nightmare, had left me shaken and scared. It had been just a glimpse of the horror that awaited us if we were not prepared.

Leaving my room, I walked down the hallway and made my way to the bathroom. The sound of running water from the tap provided a soothing relief to my tense body. I filled the tub with cold water and slipped into it, letting out a deep sigh as I felt the water wash away the exhaustion and tension that had been building up in my body.

As I lay there, my thoughts turned to the safety of my city. We had barely survived the last zombie attack, and I knew we needed to prepare better if we wanted to withstand another onslaught. The army that I had built up needed to be strengthened, and I made a mental note to recruit more soldiers to protect the citizens of the city.

After my bath, I dressed quickly and made my way to the training ground, my mind buzzing with ideas on how to improve our defense. The control menu was a sea of numbers, and my heart sank as I saw the number of minions that had been injured in the previous battle. It had been a costly victory, but we had to keep fighting to survive.

As I contemplated our situation, I remembered the residents who had been injured during the attack. They were not soldiers, but ordinary people who had been caught up in the chaos of war. I called the minion manager to inquire about their condition, and he told me that one of them had already turned into a zombie.

The news hit me hard, and I knew that we could not afford to let our guard down. The zombies were relentless, and they would not stop until they had destroyed everything in their path. We had to fight back, and we had to do it with all our strength and determination.

With renewed vigor, I set out to strengthen our defenses and protect our city from the undead horde. We may have suffered losses, but we would not give up without a fight.

"So, do people know about these injured individuals?"

"No, my lord, no one knows about them yet."

"Okay, keep them locked up and report to me in the evening. I will tell you what to do by then."

The minion nodded and returned to his position. I opened the advanced control menu to check the number of minions I had and how many more I would need to protect my city from enemies like these.

As I surveyed my army of 14,000 warriors, I knew that I could only take 10,000 with me to the impending battle. With a heavy heart, I made the difficult decision to leave 5,000 warriors behind to protect my city.

To make up for this shortfall, I instructed my minions to recruit 1,200 new minions to bolster our defenses. I felt a sense of relief knowing that my city would be protected, but my mind was still focused on the battle ahead.

As I assessed the makeup of my army, I realized that I had enough archers and didn't need to recruit any more. However, I knew that I would need more brute force minions, especially those at stage 2. I had 2,000 of these powerful minions at my disposal, but I would only take 1,500 of them with me.

To supplement my army further, I decided to bring along a large number of technique variants, the minions who had not been injured in previous battles. These minions would be invaluable in protecting my city while I was away. I ordered my minions to train 100 of these technique variants to ensure that my city would be fully protected.

To prepare for the battle, I ordered 500 of my brute force minions to undergo stage 2 training, while another 500 warriors were assigned to technique variant training. I knew that I needed to balance my army and make sure that each group was adequately represented.

As the training progressed, I realized that I still needed more brute force minions, so I instructed 600 warrior minions to undergo brute force training. It was a risk to divert so many warriors from their original purpose, but I felt it was necessary to ensure that my army was as strong as possible.

As I watched my minions go through their paces, I felt a sense of pride in their dedication and discipline. With the final training complete, my army had grown to 15,000 strong, and I knew that I was ready to face whatever lay ahead.

Although I felt a twinge of guilt about leaving some of my warriors behind, I knew that it was necessary to protect my city. To ensure that my city would be safe in my absence, I tasked my minion manager with creating new minions if needed and asked a stage 2 intelligence variant to assess which minions were required.

As I prepared to leave, I decided to leave a stage 2 intelligence variant in charge of my army. It was a difficult decision, but I knew that it was the right one. Chloe would be hurt by my decision, but I felt that it was necessary to protect our city and win the battle ahead.
