Chapter 115: Fame
Chapter 115: Fame
'Well, it can't be helped' Lucien muttered in his mind.
As convenient as it is to pin the blame on instructor Emma and other members of his team, Lucien couldn't deny the fact that they probably had no choice. In an empire this big with so many noble families trying to bring him down, he could imagine what kind of pressure these people were placed under before they spilled the beans. His only issue with them was that they never once tried to visit and explain while he was locked up. He assumed they saw him as a dead man and that's why they never bothered showing up but even then, Lucien believed a dying fourteen-year-old deserved better at the very least.
While engrossed in his thoughts, Lucien walked above the crowd and didn't even bother to give a glance. He was lead to the highest floor of the castle where he was taken to a mighty silver door. Upon opening it, Lucien was stunned by what he saw. It was a large living room, richly decorated to his taste!
On the floor was a while comfy rug that made the feet of people tingle! There were a few sofas and other essential furniture placed neatly in the living room. Going into the various doors, Lucien found a bedroom, a bathroom, a forge master room, and a cultivation chamber filled with different attires that suit his taste. He couldn't help but wonder if these are the benefits he gains as a direct noble and not a member of a noble family.
Without hesitation, Lucien stepped locked the door, and relaxed. In his room was a window that gave him a great view of the academy. Seeing so many teleportation platforms, littered everywhere, Lucien couldn't help but wonder how disastrous things would be if the empire gets invaded by a spatial mage capable of sealing off all spatial abilities in the kingdom. Although there is no known enemy capable of this in the continent, Lucien still couldn't help but put it into consideration. He knew the empire was relying on these formations a little too much and he didn't like it, that's why the only teleportation formation in his territory is the one leading in and outside the territory. Within his castle, there is no such formation that people can use.
"Maybe I am just overthinking this" Lucien muttered calmly while pushing his hair back and taking off his mask.
Many may wonder why he has returned to this place and the reason is simply for the knowledge. Rakuzen in his past life was only a spirituality cultivator, while it knew a lot about the body and magic cultivation, it was lacking the basics. Lucien couldn't completely rely on it to grow. Also, he had to reduce his dependency on the system. The current Lucien trusts no one and although Rakuzen could be considered his partner, he still had to put his guard up in case of unexpected 'complications'
Lucien spent the entire day indoors. Unlike the others that had to go to the cafeteria to get food, Lucien's food was delivered to him. He was aware of the presence of the Crux monitoring his every move and although he could suppress it with the strength of the system, he chose not to do so. He has already angered the nobles in so many ways, he had to avoid antagonizing them when possible.
Lucien woke up the next morning and went about his normal routine. He pulled out a mid-grade mana crystal and began absorbing its contents while remaining in a cross-legged position. He could use the cultivation chamber to rapidly boost his cultivation speed but Lucien knew this was that these places needed a lot of resources and he didn't bring much with him so he didn't want to waste it. When the time comes he will return to his territory.
After cultivating for an hour or so, Lucien realized he sweated profusely but this time, he saw some blackish substance oozing out of his body. It carried a bad stench causing Lucien to wrinkle his nose and frown in response. He was not too far from the warrior realm so his body had already begun getting rid of the impurities, this is a good sign but to Lucien, it was not enough. He had hoped to directly breakthrough into the peak of the human realm.
[You are getting too impatient! You will hurt yourself if you continue this way!] Rakzuen warned but Lucien paid no attention to his words.
"I killed a squad from the Libet empire and planned to keep it a secret but Emma and the others ratted me out There must be spies in this empire and I believe the Libet empire stayed silent for so long because they wished to see how the emperor would handle things This time, not only was I pardoned but also given a noble girl, a territory, and special privileges! How long do you think it will take before the Libet empire starts demanding for my head? I need to get stronger fast" Lucien said as his eyes flashed murderous lights.
Thinking about this, Rakuzen was stunned. He never thought Lucien would think so far carry such thoughts with him. He had even forgotten about the matter and never expected that things would develop this far. Lucien was right, his position as a Baron gave him the reverse effects. His life is no longer protected by the empire since they all assume he should be able to handle himself. So in moments like this, he only had himself to depend on.
[When the time comes I will fight for you] Rakuzen said in a bid to calm Lucien down but he got an unexpected response.
"Don't do that From now on I have to depend on myself if you keep stepping in I have no room to grow Your assistance is not needed" Lucien answered coldly before he went to take a shower.
He wore a silver mage sleeveless robe but this time he put away the mask. Gazing at his charming face in the mirror in his room, Lucien couldn't help but smile.
"I am back" He muttered.
