Chapter 268 ROAD TO GOAT I
Damon looked at the Martial Art Pack Shop. The screen gave off a faint glow that lit up his face.
He smiled.
"Oh, this is good," he muttered, his fingers twitching with anticipation.
He saw a long list in front of him that showed a lot of different martial arts. It had every kind of discipline he could think of.
1. [Boxing]
2. [Kickboxing]
3. [Wrestling]
4. [Muay Thai]
5. [Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu]
...
...
The list kept going on and on, a never-ending list of options.
He quickly looked through it as his mind whipped around. Each martial art sparkled in the store and cost 1,000 System Coins.
They weren't cheap, but Damon knew they were worth it because of what they had to offer.
"Alright," he said, sitting up straighter. "Let's see how this works."
Without hesitation, Damon tapped on Wrestling.
The price appeared in bold: 1,000 System Coins.
[Confirm Purchase? Y/N]
He grinned, his thumb already moving to the confirmation.
"Let's do this."
With a light press, the interface blinked, and a new notification appeared:
[Purchase Successful! Wrestling Acquired.]
Damon felt something strange, like a light warmth going through his body.
He could feel something settling deep inside him. It wasn't overwhelming, but he could tell it was there.
Once he closed his eyes, he thought of techniques all at once when he opened them again.
He knew what takedowns, sprawls, changes, and pins were all about like he had been doing them for years.
And not just basic moves but complex ones as well.
"Whoa," he whispered, running a hand through his hair.
With this and his existing Jiu-Jitsu skills, Damon realized his ground game had just leveled up.
A smirk crept onto his face.
"This is going to be fun."
As the warmth from the wrestling pack settled into his mind, Damon realized something was different.
It wasn't like when the system had initially loaded his base martial arts.
Back then, the techniques felt rigid, as though they were simply implanted in his head, waiting for him to slowly master them through repetition.
This time, it was different.
He felt an innate connection to the wrestling techniques, as though the knowledge wasn't just sitting in his brain but flowing naturally into his movements.
It was as if he'd gained not only the knowledge but also an accelerated understanding of how to use it.
"Interesting," Damon muttered, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully.
He glanced back at the interface, expecting the shop screen to still be open. Instead, it had shifted to a new tab.
At the top, it read
[Masteries.]
Damon's eyebrows lifted in surprise. He hadn't seen this feature before, but it immediately caught his attention.
The screen displayed all his martial arts, each listed with a star system beneath them.
Previously, his mastery levels were rated by a ratio, something 10/10, which was good as well.
Now, it was clear. Each martial art was represented by five stars.
He tapped on Muay Thai, and his chest swelled with pride.
⭐⭐⭐⭐★(½)
The fifth star was only half-filled, the rest gleaming gold.
"So close to mastering it," he said with a satisfied grin. "That's what I like to see."
Next, he checked his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
⭐⭐⭐☆☆
Three stars. Respectable, but clearly room for growth.
His eyes moved down to Wrestling, the newest addition.
⭐½☆☆☆
Damon chuckled at the sight. It made sense, he'd had a rudimentary understanding of takedown defenses before, which had barely qualified as a foundation.
The half-star seemed to acknowledge the new knowledge he'd gained from the purchase.
"This system doesn't miss a thing," he muttered, shaking his head in amusement.
Finally, his attention landed on Boxing.
⭐⭐⭐☆☆
Boxing, one of the fundamentals any MMA fighter knew, and most of the moves in boxing were present in Muay Thai, so when he improved in Muay Thai it also reflected on Boxing.
But it seems if he wanted to go for more he would need to learn Boxing for real. Stay tuned for updates on empire
"This is good," Damon said, leaning back in his chair and rubbing his chin. "Now I know exactly where I stand."
Damon froze, his eyes locked on the screen as the notification glowed in front of him. A single phrase echoed in his mind.
[GOAT QUEST ISSUED]
"What the hell is this?" It made him curious as he muttered.
He automatically moved his fingers and pressed the glowing alert.
The screen changed into a sleek black-and-gold interface. It gave off an air of importance.
It had aura.
A notification popped up.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
[GOAT STATUS]
Damon's brow furrowed as he began reading, the words sinking in with every line.
[The goal of the system was for you to become the GOAT of MMA.]
[With that, there are things one must do to be considered the greatest of all time, not only among the average but also among those already considered GOAT, and still surpass them.]
[Some of the tasks have already been achieved. Others remain. Breaking records. Setting them. Creating them.]
[That is what a GOAT is. Someone with a spectacular legacy, someone who has dominated others, and someone who redefined what greatness means.]
[Welcome to ROAD TO GOAT.]
Damon leaned back in his chair and stared in shock at the screen. His heart rate went up and down as he was excited.
He said with a smirk on the corner of his mouth, "A challenge, huh?"
This was about cementing his place in history, standing above legends, and becoming something more than just another fighter.
The GOAT.
Breaking records. Setting them. Creating them. The words repeated in his head like a mantra.
Damon leaned forward, his fingers gripping the edges of the table. "Alright, system," he muttered, his smirk turning into a confident grin. "Let's see what you've got."
Damon's finger hovered over the screen before he tapped on the glowing GOAT STATUS icon.
The interface shifted, revealing a comprehensive breakdown of his journey so far:
