Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 22: 14 "The Gift of Vurowus" (Thanks to the Alliance Hierarch, The Agent of Chaos)

"Young man, you've run out of Resurrection Coins~"

On the battlefield, Belfeng held a golden hammer in one hand, looking down at her opponent who had been struck to the ground.

The young man with a duckbill cap covered his slightly hurting arm, moving his hands and feet before slowly standing up.

"I admit defeat." As soon as the words left his mouth, the realistic-looking scenery within the arena dissipated, and the weapons in both their hands lost their luster, with the energy-formed blades and hammer heads vanishing into nothingness, leaving only the handles.

"Ah Kai is still one step behind. In the process of clashing blades with Bebe, he started off stable, but as the number of exchanges increased, gaps began to appear."

"He's probably not proficient yet. He has only been practicing with a broadsword for half a year; he's quite the little prodigy at this rate."

"Ah, I wanted to see the bunny get beaten, really wanted to see the bunny crying 'yiyi' after getting hit."

"You pervert, better stay away from me."

...

Amid various discussions, Belfeng gathered her belongings and then walked over to Hexia.

"I've finished today's tasks. If you all want to continue playing, find someone to battle with yourselves, I'm going to rest~"

"Bunny is still so casual about it (lazy); she doesn't even want to earn a bit more money."

"That's why they say she's 'slothful'."

Many customers in the arena had grown accustomed to this and, after getting their fill of the excitement, each sat down to start their own games, with some groups even sitting together to start a role-playing game.

A sand table that seemed real appeared on the tabletop, along with various castles and creatures that emerged from it. The characters fashioned by the players descended into it, embarking on various amazing battles and adventures.

"How about it, is it fun?" Belfeng pulled Hexia along to sit down in a corner facing away from the crowd.

"Senior Belfeng is very impressive."

Hexia genuinely admired her; this bunny-eared girl was not only lively, skilled in handling different types of customers but also maintained a high standard in numerous games, sports, and battles, something not just anyone could achieve.

In this day and age, to be a gaming expert was even harder than becoming a top professional in some fields. Because the industry is so specialized, some high-level professions might not be that competitive, but gaming was different. Because it's open to everyone, with a vast base, numerous geniuses emerge, and standing out among thousands is no easy feat.

"Ahaha, although they're all compliments, coming from 'Dantalion,' they feel especially pleasant." The black bunny ears on her head gently wiggled, seemingly reflecting her exceptionally good mood.

Looking at those movable ears, Hexia couldn't help her curiosity any longer.

"Senior Belfeng, are those bunny ears on your head real?"

"They are real, yeah." The other person tilted her head.

"But, I saw the edge of a headband and thought they might be artificial."

"Oh this, indeed there's a headband, to keep uniform with everyone else in the shop." She wagged her ears again.

"There are not many from the Orc Race in the Four-leaf Crystal Star Domain, so it's quite normal to be mistaken for a human in disguise."

After exchanging a few more words, Belfeng asked, "How do you feel about today? You've pretty much made a round of the shop, so you must have a pretty good understanding by now, right?"

"Yes, I've met quite a few people and have really broadened my horizons." Hexia felt that she had encountered more today than in the entire past year.

"You'll get used to it after a while."

Belfeng comforted her. In fact, she didn't use to take care of people like this, but Hexia did look really pitiable. After all, a girl like Hexia, who was obedient, well-behaved, pretty, and cute was indeed extremely rare.

Today's girls either mess around seeking thrills or are immersed in competitive consumption and manipulative intrigues. Although Belfeng was a girl herself, often she didn't want to hang out with other girls of her age; it was too exhausting. She preferred to play games with the guys for relaxation.

After chatting about the shop situation, although Hexia had a preliminary understanding of her colleagues' work, she still felt worried about what she should do.

"It seems everyone has their own way and style, but I'm not sure what I should do."

"Ah, very clever, 'Dantalion,' to have realized this so early on."

"As for your style, actually, I've already figured it out," Belfeng patted her chest confidently.

"It would be too much to ask you to chat about life with customers at your age. You don't need to learn the style of 'Andusia' sister. Just be yourself, and do whatever makes you comfortable at work."

"Of course, you will need some time to adapt and explore in the beginning."

"Tomorrow I'll take you to meet the rest of our companions. The first week is mainly about getting familiar with everything."

"Thank you, Sister Belfeng." Although the other person didn't look much older than herself, Hexia was still very grateful.

For someone as introverted and a bit timid as her, a person as generous, outgoing, and warmhearted as Belfeng was as dazzling as the sun in winter.

"Mhm, I'll look out for you from now on, 'Dantalion'~"

Time flew by without notice, and soon it was time to clock out.

At dusk, the artificial sky on the ceiling also displayed the fading glow of the sunset, staining the entire floor's glass crystal with a layer of faint gold, exceptionally beautiful.

"It's past five o'clock," Belfeng said, sitting at a bar counter with Hexia, where a similarly dressed maid wore a uniform adorned with silvery silk flowers around the collar and cuffs, adding her own personal touch.

"Sister 'Vurowus,' do you have anything to eat for me?" The rabbit-eared maid swung her legs while sitting on a high bar stool, with her hands propping up her chin, looking at the smiling maid inside the counter.

"Nope, 'Belfeng,' you're a rabbit; you can't eat meat. I'm preparing this portion for 'Dantalion.'" Inside the counter, she grilled beef, and the sizzling sound accompanied by the aroma of rosemary wafted into the air, quite tempting.

'Vurowus' (Forneus): The thirtieth Demon God of King Solomon's seventy-two pillar demons, commanding twenty-nine legions, he appears as a large, silver-colored sea creature. Skilled in speech and able to teach people the art of debate, he also has the power to make adversaries into friends.

"Who says rabbits can't eat meat? I want to eat something made by 'Vurowus's' own hands too." She lowered her arm and then propped her head on her folded arms, gazing at the serene maid cooking.

"I've had a tough day, Belfeng. You could order something from the staff restaurant upstairs. They have special meals there." The maid with silvery trim continued flipping the steak with a spatula.

"'Dantalion' is here for the first time today, which is rare, so I'm making it myself just for her. You keep out of it. Besides, it's not like you haven't eaten here before; why are you so greedy today?"

"Because I'm hungry. I spent a lot of time today showing 'Dantalion' around, so I'm tired."

"There, you don't need to act pitiful. I know all about Belfeng's stamina. Even if you keep going for another whole day, you won't get tired." Unfortunately, the maid across the counter wasn't taken in by the rabbit-eared girl's coquettish behavior.

"Well, it's grilled to perfection. A sprinkle of spices and paired with fluffy, sweet-smelling cold smoked rice cake, and it's all done." After saying that, she arranged the food on a plate and brought it to the counter to hand over to the patiently waiting Hexia.

T4 level Purple Herb Steak Combo (Rare): Made with ingredients containing partial transcendental effects, including Purple Herb, molten beef, and cold smoked rice which can quickly restore physical strength and replenish Magic Power; long-term consumption can enhance physical fitness.

"Thank you, Sister 'Vurowus.'

Hexia took the combo meal somewhat flustered, knowing that at high-end restaurants outside, a T4 level meal with transcendental effects could cost between 600 and 2000, not to mention that this one was made from choice ingredients and handcrafted with care, so its price would likely be even higher.

Just this one meal was equivalent to her half a month's salary.

Seeing Hexia eat gingerly, and even a bit uneasily, Belfeng poured her a glass of fruit juice.

"Don't be nervous, 'Vurowus' took care of the cost of the ingredients for your meal. You don't have to worry about the company finding out and punishing you. As for the cost 'Vurowus' deducted, she can earn it back by making one or two extra meals for customers in a day. It doesn't take too much time."

"Ha, 'Belfeng' makes it sound so easy." The maid inside the counter expressed that the rabbit's statement was a bit exaggerated.

"But go ahead and eat at ease, little 'Dantalion.' Indeed, it's just a matter of spending a bit more time, don't be too nervous."

The maids working at 'Dream of Glazed Glass' were used to earning and spending big, and for Hexia, who had always lived a simple life, such a scene was still too overwhelming.

"Thank you, Sister 'Vurowus.'

Since her father's departure, Hexia had lived a hard life alone and had never been cared for and loved by her seniors like today. She had thought that her first job would surely be very tough, maybe even falling into many pitfalls before struggling to find her footing.

Fate is so wonderful. After more than ten years of an ordinary life full of ups and downs, it had finally brought her a bright turn in the dark tunnel.
