Chapter 76: Asgardians, 965 CE
Chapter 76: Asgardians, 965 CE
[Gilgamesh’s POV]
As I was rushing through the horde of Frost Giants and kept punching them as they came near me, I felt something that I thought I would never feel.
I feel free.
Thousands of years of suppression, where I have this power to dominate others but was not allowed to use it on others, does something to you I guess. I kept grinning to myself as I crushed some giants’ heads, breaking their backs, and smashing their chests.
All my life, my purpose was just protecting. I was the protector of the group, I was the one who protected the humans when deviants attacked, I was the one who protected the humans when they retreated, I am a defender. But I feel… different right now.
I stood as my body was covered in the giants’ blood. I looked around, and saw Pluto’s constructs killing tens of giants in one go. That guy was really something huh… while the rest of the Eternals were stagnant, he kept growing more and more powerful, as if he was trying to get somewhere…
I then finally noticed that I was surrounded.Frost Giants summoned ice from their hands, and they were trying to trap me in a block of ice, trying to incapacitate me.
I guess I was caught off guard a little bit… consumed in the pleasure of fighting. I took a deep breath as cosmic energy gathered on my feet. The Sound of the motor was screeching loudly, and I slammed my feet to the ice below me, cracking it.
The ice then collapses, making all the frost giants around me drown in the water. Well, the problem is that I was drowning too…
As I sank to the body of water below me, I saw a blinding flash of light from the surface of the water. I then felt something was pulling me to the surface, and I saw an old man, with golden armour and a spear, offering me his arm, so that I could go above the ice.
I of course took his hand, and got out of the water.
“You okay there friend?” questioned the old man.
“I’ve been better.” I shrugged.
The old man laughed and patted my back. “You did a good job here.” he said as he saw the frost giants’ corpses floating on the water.
“Eh, it was nothing.” I murmured. “I was caught off guard I guess, never really fought in this big of a battle before.”
“Well, you’re lucky you’re not used to bloodbath.” said the old man sadly. “Anyway, your friends in the village were attacked, you should help them.”
“Sersi and Druig?” I questioned, remembering that they were there. “Are they okay?”
“They’re fine now.” nodded the old man. “Well, I need to move to the front line now friend, may we meet again after the battle.”
The old man then ran towards the front line, where the leader of frost giants was spotted.
What a strange old man…

[Pluto’s POV]
As I kept killing the frost giants, I kept absorbing them as well. My mind was filled with the voices of the frost giants, but I tried to ignore them on the battlefield. There were so many frost giants… it’s getting kind of boring killing them…
I then saw that the frost giants were retreating, running from Tonsberg to regroup on the other side of the body of water. I was confused. Why are they running?
Then, I remembered that Odin was supposed to appear here. And soon enough, I saw the bifrost bridge, transporting the fuck ton of Einherjars and I saw Odin himself, standing in front of his army.
I heard him shout a warcry, and his army followed him, slamming themselves to the retreating frost giants.
“Well, let’s meet the All-Father shall we?” I chuckled to myself, as I leaped towards the army of Einherjars.
I saw Odin fighting in the frontlines with his iconic spear. Beams of energy came out of his Gungnir, which is similar to mine. I smirked, and jumped to him. I saw a frost giant was approaching Odin, and tried to attack him from behind. I summoned an ice spear, and threw it to the frost giants, nailing him to the ice below.
“Nice weapon!” I commented while we were fighting side by side, using our spears.
“You have good taste in weapons too, my friend!” Odin grinned at me as he stabbed a frost giant in the stomach.
We then stood with our backs facing each other. We aimed our spears to the frost giants, and we shot our energy beams at them. As the energy kept going, we moved in circles, so in every direction, all of the frost giants were dead.
“Hahaha! I always wanted to do that with a partner!” Laughed Odin as he stopped shooting his laser beams from his Gungnir, and attacked a nearest Frost giant. “I am Odin Borson! What is your name, friend!?”
“Pluto Arishemson!” I smirked, joking about me being Arishem’s son… “You sure you can keep up, old man?! You look as if you had ordered yourself a grave just in case!”
“You dare!? Mock me?! The all-father?!” Laughed Odin. “You Eternals are older than me! I should be the one who calls you old man!”
I laughed, it seems like he knows his stuff. “I’m not older than you old man, Ajak though, might be.”
“How old are you then, friend?!” he said, stabbing a frost giant in the neck.
“Now?! Around 6000 years old!” I answered.
“By Bor! you’re almost the same age as me!” laughed Odin.
As we killed the last of the retreating frost giants, we saw that the other asgardians have done their part as well. I then saw Ikaris flying towards us, before landing, superhero style.
“Aren’t we going to chase them?” Ikaris asked me, before looking at Odin.
“Don’t worry friend, they will go nowhere.” shrugged Odin. “They had dared to invade midgard, they will pay the price either way.”
Ikaris looked at me again. “Who’s this?”
“Odin Borson.” I simply answered.
“What is your name, friend?” questioned Odin to Ikaris.
“Ikaris.” said Ikaris simply.
“Father’s name?” questioned Odin jokingly.
Ikaris was confused, and looked at me. “I just say Arishemson.” I shrugged.
“Then so am I… I guess…” Ikaris said awkwardly.
Odin then laughed at Ikaris’s awkwardness. “I was jesting friend, come, let us take a rest, I wanted to discuss something with your leader.”
“Then you have to talk to Ajak for that.”
Odin nodded. “Then lead me to her.”
—
We are now walking towards Ajak, who was healing Kingo and Makkari, as they were a bit injured.
“Man, we never really fight an entire army like this huh…” Kingo commented as he was being healed.
“Actually, you have.” I commented suddenly, announcing our presence. “My army.”
Kingo scoffed. “That one doesn’t count, you weren’t really trying to hurt us.”
“Tell that to Makkari and Ikaris kingo.” I chuckled, which made Makkaris shake her head in amusement.
Ajak turned to us, and saw Odin beside me. “Thank you, Odin, for helping us defend against the frost giants.”
“It is my realm to protect,” said Odin casually.
“Earth is just a backwater planet, what’s there to protect.” I murmured.
“Earth is still my territory, friend, I will protect it.” chuckled Odin as he patted me. I looked at his face, and saw that he still has two eyes… huh, did I change that?
“Anyway.” coughed Odin. “Ajak, as the Eternals of earth, I would like to invite you all to the subjugation of the frost giants in their world.”
Ajak shook her head. “I am sorry Odin, we cannot do that, Arishem has given us a task in this place.”
Odin sighed. “If we fail, the earth will be the target once again.”
“And you, the all-father of the Asgardians, isn’t confident with your ability to subjugate frost giants?” questioned Ajak amusingly.
Odin laughed. “Of course I’m confident.”
“Then forgive me Odin, but we cannot leave earth until Arishem said so,” said Ajak apologetically.
Odin nodded in disappointment. “That is a pity,” he said. “But, once we Asgardians came back from the war, we will hold a banquet on earth as our thank you that you helped us push back the frost giants. Is that okay? ”
Ajak smiled wryly, he looked at the other eternals, and asked. “What do you guys think?”
“I wanted to try Asgardian Alcohol.” said Gil, walking to us, covered in blood.
“Bloody hell Gil, what happened to you?!” I questioned in surprise.
“Just killed too many frost giants.” he said as he sat on the ground, groaning in pain a little bit. “Too much fun, I think…”
Odin laughed. “You want alcohol? I could teach you my secret brew later, I would be drunk all night drinking my brew.”
Gil chuckled. “Looking forward to it, old man.”
Odin then turns to Ajak, and gets serious. “Then I will return after the war, we Asgardians will not forget what you have done for us.”
“Honestly, we did nothing.” smiled Ajak. “It is our job to protect humans.”
Odin just smiled mysteriously at Ajak, and said. “If you’d like to think so… anyway, may we meet again.”
He walked back to his army, who was waiting for him near us. He then raised his spear, and shouted. “Heimdall! Open the bifrost!”
A rainbow beam suddenly appeared from the sky, swallowing the entire army, and made a mark on the ice.
Well, I look forward to the banquet… I guess…
