Chapter 190: Spontaneous Combustion. 2012 CE

As Helios pulled Gwen and Peter away from the glowing man and saw that the other kids were running away from them, he quickly constructed a thick golden barrier separating him and the man. The man looked desperate and kept banging the barrier.

“HELP ME!!” he shouted, sobbing uncontrollably.

Helios didn’t care about the man’s plea however, he kept dragging Gwen and Peter away from him, his shield still protecting them. Helios kept screaming to his other schoolmates, who were staring at the shield in front of Helios, with their faces expressing disbelief.

But the glowing man didn’t stop begging, he sprinted towards the shield, and punched it as if it was the last thing he'd do.

“PLEASE!!! I- I HAVE A WIFE AND A CHILD!” screamed the man, his body glowing brighter by the minute.

Helios however, didn’t comply. He pushed him away from the others using his shield, towards the entrance door.

“What’s going on!?” A teacher suddenly appeared, and once he saw the glowing man, his eyes widened. But before he could say anything else, the glowing man screamed once again.

“NO!!!—”

*BOOOM!*

The man exploded to pieces, the building shook, and the hall was quickly filled with smoke and dust. Everyone was coughing up, but thankfully, everyone’s fine, as they were protected by Helios’s shield.

Helios coughed up for a bit as he checked on his two friends.

“You two alright?” he said, trying to get rid of the dust that dirtied his clothes.

“W-What just happened?” Peter stuttered, trying to calm himself. It was probably his first time seeing someone die in front of his eyes.

Helios ignored the guy, and walked up to Gwen who was pale as hell. He patted her shoulder to clean up the dust and cleaned her hair. “Gwen?”

“H-Huh?” she snapped back to reality, and stared at Helios’s blue eyes. “Y-Yeah… just… that was sudden…”

Helios just hummed at her words, but before he could say anything else, a bunch of footsteps suddenly entered the broken school hall, and shouts started to echo throughout the place.

“Put your hands in the air!” A bunch of men with masks with guns quickly flooded the hall, pointing their toys at the students, who were scared shitless.

Helios frowned at the sight, thankfully, his shield’s still up, and they cannot touch the ones behind it,

One man in that group walked towards the shield. “What’s this?” he said. He took off his gloves, and his palms glowed orange. He tried to heat up the shield, but it was no use.

“Who’re you?” asked Helios, ignoring the shouts of his teachers from behind.

“You’re that richman’s son?” he said casually, putting on his gloves again. “All rich men have their gimmick now…”

Helios raised his eyebrow. “What do you want from me?”

“Come with us,” said the man plainly. “Our boss has some business with your dad.”

“What if I said no?” Helios answered back casually.

The man was silent for a second, but Helios felt that he was smirking beneath that mask. The man raised his hand, signalling something to his underling. Soon, a bunch of men brought the students that were outside, with guns pointed at their heads, making Helios frowned.

The teachers behind Helios gasped at the sight, and some students cried for their friends at the other side of the barrier. Gwen clenched Helios’s shirt tightly, and Peter clenched his fist hard.

“I’m sure we can convince you somehow.” said the man calmly, a touch of madness in his voice.

“Bastards…” Helios spat.

“You’re going to do something about it right?” Peter whispered angrily.

Helios was silent. He was thinking about how to get out of this situation. He could easily fight them all, but he’s not confident enough to protect all of the students and teachers in this room. Who knows if they already planted a bomb all around the school if he didn’t accept.

He looked around, seeing the fear in the students’ and teachers’ faces, and clenched his fist.

“Clock’s ticking boy,” said the man. “We ain’t got all day.”

Helios again didn’t answer. Is this a test? Is his father testing him again? But it feels that it’s not a test, the explosion was awfully dangerous, if his sister is around here somewhere, it wouldn’t be like that at all.

But when he thought about it, it doesn’t matter if it’s a test or not, if it is, he’s safe, and his schoolmates will be safe, and if it’s not a test, if he follow these idiots, everyone will be safe… of course, he couldn’t trust the words of the terrorists…

“I will follow you if you don’t touch the other students,” said Helios calmly.

“What are you doing?” Gwen quickly asked nervously, clenching Helios’s shirt ever tightly.

Helios just held her hand, and slowly released her grasp from his shirt, before smiling at her, making her frown anxiously.

“Now, now… I can’t do that.” said the man, making Helios alarmed, he definitely thinks that this isn’t a test. “The boss didn’t tell us you’ve got this weird power… I need some sort of… assurance… that you won’t attack my men…”

“I won’t attack your men, I swear,” said Helios casually.

“Your words aren’t enough.” the man quickly said coldly. “One of these two should be enough.”

Helios frowned deeply at the words. “No.”
